Just once I would like to see one of the people filming at a mall who becomes the target of a security guard stand his ground and say, "go ahead and call the cops...this is a public venue and there are cameras everywhere filming everyone in this mall without asking their permission....why can't I film too?" I think it would also be an interesting court case if it went that far that someone was charged with a crime for filming in a mall now that everybody is carrying a smart phone that is capable of filming.

Yup, would be an interesting case and I have a feeling the judge would dismiss said case if it ever got far as you said. I hope the security guard gets a lump of coal in their stocking from Santa this year LOL😂.

I remember going to this mall when we went to go see the airshow nearby. The airshow sucked so we went here. I loved this mall. Always wanted to go back. I remember the radio station having a studio inside. I thought that was fun. you could go shopping and just request music (supposedly). When leaving there I got a call on my phone saying that my Aunt was put on hospice. It was kinda a rollercoaster that day, and I'll always remember it.

My hometown mall! So many memories hanging out there on the weekends as a teen. Many friends worked at different stores. Favorite stores were Casual Corner, Spencer Gifts, 5-7-9, County Seat, JCPenney, and Claire’s. I bought my first formal dress from Dillard’s. The smell of fresh-baked chip cookies was always in the air near JCPenney because the Original Cookie Co. was next door. My younger cousin worked as a security guard there later. Good times! Thanks for the walk-through. So surreal…

so many wonderful memories at this mall. My grandparents taking me to see santa every year, my mother would take me to KB toys and buy me those classic 90s toys. Back to school shopping at JC pennies and Sears. By my teenage years it was the hangout spot with hot topic, American eagle and spencer's gifts. The food court was PACKED in the late 90s and early 00s with so many choices and free samples, sometimes there was a big merry-go-round they would put out with crowds of kids waiting. My sister got her first job at the Journeys show store there. Midway mall was a huge part of my early years. That's life, rivers change course and lakes dry up. Thanks for the walkthrough video and tour, if they announce a final date before closing to the public, I will walk the halls one final time.

The roofing leaks are often caused by clogged or busted condensation lines coming from one of the malls AC unit, this can often times happen on hot summer days when its not raining. Most malls built during this era use a gravity fed rooftop system to cool/heat the spaces, the issue with this is when the condensation lines have a fault, the water pools up inside the AC unit and if it gets high enough, it will leak down the return shaft into the spaces. I work at a mall as one of the maintenance techs so if you have any questions on how they work i can answer them to the best of my ability.

I remember that woman from a couple years back. She harassed me as well, and basically prevented me from leaving, and forced me to follow her. She then told me I was “banned from the mall.” Which of course I didn’t give a shit about and still returned ever since. But honestly, the mall is a very strange place, and I’m shocked. It’s still open. Its days are really numbered.

That security woman was ridiculous. An absolute disgrace to mall guards. She can ask you to stop filming and tell you to leave but she cannot make you delete the footage or pics. Malls unfortunately are not public spaces and the rules can be enforced at the discretion of the guards. Sad and angering.😢

Remember people photography is NOT a crime! Know your law and your rights!
@charlestonpinballarcade
@charlestonpinballarcade 3 ай бұрын
SP… no disrespect to you in any manner… but you keep saying this and you are not factoring in the circumstances concerning malls being private property. Malls are NOT public property. The property owner and security sets their own rules that can be enforced at their own discretion. Here is an example… if security calls the police on the camera person, the police will tell the camera person they have been asked to leave by security and they can be or will be trespassed. Security always should be respectful and not be nasty to anyone, but they can selectively enforce their rules at anytime, even if they are not posted. Now once the picture is taken… the picture is the property of the camera person and security cannot and should not force that person to delete the photo, as that would be breaking the law.
@KissMyFlapjack
@KissMyFlapjack 3 ай бұрын
Absolutely Incorrect. A mall or store, while open to the public, is owned by a company and considered private property. As in, they can set whatever rules they want. If they prohibit photography or filming, that is within their right to do so and enforce such regulations. This security guard went overboard, but prohibiting photos and video being taken at its base is completely within the property's rights.

WTF is her problem?!? Elyria is my home town. The mall is currently owned by the Lorain County port authority. It’s a public place. A friend works at a store there and they are hiring for holiday help. So they’ll obviously be open through the end of the year.
