You are an honest contractor....almost an oxymoron these days. From watching this video i am going up in my attic and checking my GFI to see if that is why my radon mit fan is "broken" .Im probably not that lucky but worth a try. Thanks for your help!!!!

Thank you so much for your videos. 😀 My fan got louder and louder over 2 weeks and now it just stopped. At first I didn’t even know what it was. I am concerned about radon in the house and not sure how fast levels get high in the house! I have no idea who to contact and have heard some people are not certified and charge too much. Can you guide me on who to contact? I wish you lived here!!! 😢 I am in North Carolina. Thanks!!

would heated floors in the basement cause a stack effect? our heated floor rooms have far higher radon levels than the others
@AmericanRadonMitigation Жыл бұрын
That's a good question! Does your entire basement have heated floors?
@03056932 Жыл бұрын
@@AmericanRadonMitigation just half of it and those rooms are about 2.5x higher. may I also ask if a professionally speed controller should be able to over volt a radon fan? Ive recently moved in and turned it up on the dial because levels are rising and the fan got hot and has just died!
@AmericanRadonMitigation Жыл бұрын
@03056932 Interesting. Try turning the heat off in those rooms to see if it makes a difference. Or, if you have more than one radon monitor, turn the heat off in one room and compare the results. I've never used a speed controller, just EC fans with a potentiometer, which allows you to adjust the fan's speed. You can find these at radonpds.com/product-category/radon-fans/radon-fans-high-volume/ Use promo code Jesse if you'd like to save a bit.

Do you know the brand of that sump pit cover with window?
@AmericanRadonMitigation Жыл бұрын
I do not. However, I would not recommend getting one. They are pretty flimsy and do not create an airtight seal. I do see the Jackel brand periodically. amzn.to/40FytHu

Where do I begin? Had system installed 14 years ago & it still runs but have done nothing to it. I checked radon level a few years back & it was in acceptable range.
@AmericanRadonMitigation2 жыл бұрын
Ginni, you should test your radon level every two years. We like the EcoQube as a way to track your long-term radon levels and receive up-to-date data. You can check the EcoQube out by visiting americanradonmitigation.com/product/ecoqube/

How does a fireplace lit in the basement affect radon gas Will it draw out the gas
@AmericanRadonMitigation2 жыл бұрын
I would imagine that it could increase the stack effect, thus increasing your radon levels. It would be a good experiment to try if you had an EcoQube or similar way to measure radon levels.

yeah, insolate all those pipes as cold air will cause condensation and then mold...

My GFI tripped, reset, unplugged the radon system and it immediately trips. tried plugging it into another GFI outlet with extension cord and it immediately trips. Have it plugged into a non GFI and it is running now...could it be a fan issue or what is causing the trips
@AmericanRadonMitigation3 жыл бұрын
Good question. I'd ask an electrician. I'd be interested to hear what caused it when you find out.
@AmericanRadonMitigation3 жыл бұрын
Were you able to figure the issue?
@croutonMangle2 жыл бұрын
Had the same issue though intermittently, and radon folks switched it to another breaker. Unfortunately, then the fan just ran intermittently. Radon folks are still trying to figure it out though i'm wondering if there was water damage initially and it needs to be replaced. If you figured out your issue, would love to know.

I imagine it would increase the stack effect, thereby increasing the radon levels in your home. It would be a good experiment for you to run if you have a radon monitor like the EcoQube.
