Dude when I played Dead Space 2, it felt chilly being in USG Ishimura yet again, knowing what happened originally in the first game and all the history that Isaac had with it. It felt scarier than usual even if it had been partially decontaminated and I really liked that the devs managed to create that feeling of uneasiness (by using the traumatising events on Ishimura) for the players.
@TreesOnTheMoon2 жыл бұрын
I actually liked that Isaac didnt talk in Dead Space 1 and was worried when they announced that he would talk. I always thought they portrayed his emotional state really well during gameplay without needing him to talk, like with the heavier breathing and grunts and stuff. But now I'm not worried anymore as it seems they're playing into that concept even more with his dialouge.

Seeing as they're going for a lot more personalization with the rigs this time around.. I think it would be neat if maybe somewhere down the pipeline they could introduce a standalone 2 player co-op dungeon mode as a DLC or something My basic idea, you go through rooms of increasingly higher difficulty, a test of survival and quick thinking with variable puzzles and situations to get through, not to mention different loot and suit cosmetics.. maybe there can be bosses. I understand if people would be against this, but it would only be a standalone mode separate from the story.. where maybe the only thing shared would be suit cosmetics. I know people hated and Co-op aspect of Dead Space 3, but my best friend and I are huge fans of Dead Space and the prospect of a co-op survival game in the series always peaked our interest since it's rich in lore and beautiful art with grotesque monsters you have to fight in different and unique ways, complimenting Isaac's background as an engineer. Not supporting EA in this. They're remaking Schofields brainchild without allowing him onboard, specifically to draw attention away from his new project The Callisto Protocol. EA hasn't given a shit about Dead Space for 9 years. Now Glen Schofield is making another survival horror game as he envisions it. Something they wouldn't let him do, because they didn't think it had lasting power in the market. All of a sudden, they give a shit about Dead Space's roots again. Incredible. This is something they ignored in both of the follow up games, as they led the game series to its early grave. Now they're back for their piece of the pie again.

DS3 was a good game in its own right. It just wasn't a good *Dead Space* game. If it had released as some other title in some other fictional universe, I believe it would have been received much better. If they continue the Dead Space story at some point, I only hope it returns to the original true "horror with guns" format that made DS1 and DS2 so awesome.

I had no idea they where remaking this. I heard of the legendary Dead Space and wanted to play it as a horror fan but it was too old to be on ps4. What a pleasant surprise.

I would love to see a side by side of the terrors of the Callisto protocol and the dead space remake as the team that is making the Callisto protocol made dead space- I feel like that would be amazing
@imcnblu2 жыл бұрын
It's not really the same team that made Dead Space. It's a mostly new studio that's headed up by the creator/director of the original Dead Space. To the best of my knowledge, there are only a few people on the team from Visceral Games. (formerly known as EA Redwood Shores when they were making the OG Dead Space)

I’m excited to see the Flamethrower now, Considering how the game has this Doom Eternal enemy destruction stuff, so I’m so excited to see the Flamethrower melt the necros, they never really physically reacted to the flames upon their death, so I if the skin can be melted off or cooked, I’m hyped

One thing im noticing is that you run a lot faster compared to the first game which i'm not sure i like. Or at least the animation is quicker.

Ehh, mods could fix it

All of the problems that i have with the remake(such as too much lighting which takes away from the scariness, the stiff animations of the nexromorphs and that their movement is less snappy, the gun shooting too fast) can be fixed easily by tweaking values.
@goofygoober4202 жыл бұрын
I hope they get the lighting looking really good. The only problem I had with the original was I had to turn brightness up to max so see were I was going but it took away from the spooky-ness

6:43 if you look at the dead officers outfit, it resembles a very close look to 'Mass Effect's' Captain Anderson's officer uniform from the 2007 game.

The silent protagonist is actually done with a lot of art and care, and there is a reason why he is silent in the first game. The first game is based on how you react to the scenarios. Not how Isaac reacts to scenarios. Isaac Clark is supposed to be a shell, where you the player, is the main character.

I am sure some people would complain about the Pulse rifle's secondary being changed to a proxy mine but to me its a change I don't mind as I roughly used every weapon a handful of times both primary and second but the Pulse rifle is the sole exception, I used its primary and only used its Secondary out of pure curiosity. But one thing I do hope to occur in the remake is something that appeared in dead space 2, that is extremely dark rooms, where all you get is the glow of your suit. The addition of optional side quests is nice as I hope its a bit more to it like able to get a schematic early, get a handful of power nodes, but one thing I would like are multiple passages to the main objective, like in the original there is one route but what if there are a few extra that lead to said passage? Just a thought.

Glad to hear there's new stuff, new routes, and updated logs, I was worried this was going to be only updated visuals and nothing else from the trailers we've seen. Now I have a reason to go through the Ishimura again (shivers...) for the 15th time... I do hope it has DLSS though, so I can play it in all its glory in 4K above 60FPS...

From the videos I have watched involving the devs, I *really* don't think that there is a world where they could fuck this up. The original game was not a labor of love, it was a labor of pure hatred... for you. The developers are in extremely rare company.

The only disappointing thing for me watching this review is seeing that they decided to go with the thruster based movement in zero G from 2 and 3 instead of keeping the wall-jumping from the original. I always missed the wall jumping in the subsequent games and I guess I'll continue to miss it. But that being my only negative is a huge accomplishment. I'm psyched to see this remake come out!
