It's funny because even tho the game is 15 years old I still know it like the back of my hand. I've played it so many times over the years. So this game will not surprise me but that doesn't matter because Dead space is endlessly repayable and this will be very fresh with the changes and better graphics/performance

You can backtrack in the original to pick up items you couldn’t reach without upgrades to your suit or because you didn’t have the audio/text log that gave you the access code. But it was very linear. Nice to hear they enhanced it to be more enticing.

I recall playing the OG and being like oh shit. The intro sequence always stuck with me, the UI on Iassic was just so cool to me. The end mission just killed it for me but 2 also was incredible EVEN the iPhone port was awesome for what it was. I’m excited to play this and also this is one of the first remakes I feel like holy shit I’m getting old. We’re remaking 360/3 era titles for now. I hope it’s a nice terrifying nostalgic yet remix that everyone can dig

Dead Space 2 never had more action than Dead Space 1. The reason some people like the first game more is the atmosphere and the setting. Both games actually played very similar.

100 percent. Dead space is better than Callisto by a lot and its up there with RE in terms of the best survival horror of all time. This remake looks great and runs great and is the best version of the game

seems like Motive have made a great remake. for me, the biggest change for the better is the overhaul of the audio, and enhancing the lighting & shadows and volumetrics, all adding to the atmosphere of being trapped on the derelict station. i hope EA gives them a chance to remake the sequels, at least DS2 like this as well.

I'm assuming this is a PC gameplay? I want to see if I should get this on Xbox or PlayStation I'm leaning more towards Xbox but if anyone can confirm how the PlayStation controller is with this game I'd appreciate it! I want to know if it takes advantage of haptic feedback, uses the speaker at all for like conversations or audio logs and the biggest deciding factor I would say is the triggers a bit is used like eternal where they 7 L2 and R2 feel like two buttons!

I am torn if the game is that good I think it deserves a 5. Go back to RE2 and ask yourself what did that game need? It needed to be remade from the ground up. Everything about it needed to be redone to bring it into modern gaming. Do the exact same thing for the original Dead Space. Ask yourself what does it need to be brought up to modern gaming standards? Honest answer is a fresh coat of paint. How many games can we say are 15 years old and all they need is a fresh coat of paint to make them playable to make them great by today’s standards. If that is the case, I strongly want to push this game we made a 5. Simply because they did exactly what they had to do to make this game phenomenal it’s so good that we are questioning whether it was always like this. It’s what we remember back then and if what we remember back, then was a masterpiece Weldon. I think that should be a masterpiece.

GREG! Love you guys and love the shows, but I'm worried about review integrity lately. I can't help but feel that having Glen Schofield in and around the shows during the Callisto Protocol review cycle influenced you and can't help but think that review is now influencing this one. I adore your teams reviews and often you are my go to for honest reviews. But I honestly felt misled by you guys with Callisto, that game was seriously mediocre. Now you guys are saying this game is on the same level? Just rings hollow. I'm still a huge fan and will always tune in, just hope that this isn't a sign of outside influences clouding judgement.

@@celentis the high scores & overwhelming praise online for Callisto surprised me, as someone who refunded their Series X copy after a few hours. for all they hype it received from devs & press, i expected a lot more. looked & sounded pretty, but fell short in so many areas, unfortunately. i think all the "from the Dead Space creator!" marketing hurt it more than it helped, tbh.

I am not trying to troll here, but have a legitimate question. What is the difference between promoting Season which Blessing reviewed in this episode and Hogwort's Legacy which you debated covering in a games daily yesterday. The Creative Director and his romantic partner, the CEO of the Season dev team were accused of fostering a very toxic and sexist work environment. The Creative Director was accused of inappropriately groping several women at a company event without their permission. He still works there. Blessing is aware of it as he has mentioned it before. However, he says nothing about it in this review. Purchases of Season will financially benefit these people accused of horrific things, which are much more directly harmful than twitter posts. So why is Hogwarts such a lightning rod where Kinda Funny discusses how awful JKR is (not disagreeing) for 10 minutes or more every time the game comes up? They rarely mention or talk about the awful things done by people connected to any of the dozens and potential hundreds of other games they discuss. They mention it once on Games Daily when it comes up in the news. But with one game it gets continuously mentioned. Why this one game? Why not even mention the issues with Season? I don't care if you talk about these things or not. I just think there should be some consistency, and I don't understand why only one or two games seem to get singled out by game industry coverage.

Fair question. The answer is “outrage trend.” Most of us have no clue where are money is going, Or are fine supporting sweat shops in China as long as we don’t have to acknowledge it too much. But JK is a hot topic right now so all of the sudden everyone’s morals play a factor in their purchasing decisions.

It’s a fair point. Not least the head at Season benefits more directly from the game than JKR. Whereas whether Hogwarts Legacy is a success or not ultimately makes little difference to JKR.

First time playing Dead Space and I am enjoying it. I do think it’s 4/5 and so was Callisto Protocol. However, I would say Callisto was a bit more enjoyable for me, for a couple of reasons. Both are awesome tho, and I want to play more games like these!

Greg I love ya but the characters in Callisto Protocol were not memorable whatsoever, sure they had great motion capture and they looked fantastic but those characters were all bland as hell. I can't think of a single memorable thing any of those characters did throughout that entire story. I think Tim makes a great point that while Isaac himself isn't the most memorable character, his suit, the ship, the world, serve as far more memorable characters and iconic designs that have made the game stand the test of time. The entirety of Callisto Protocol feels so forgettable and generic compared to Dead Space.

I'll probably play this at some point because I never played Dead Space but its kinda annoying that we're in 2023 and still getting remakes of games from the 360/ps3 generation. such a risk averse play from EA. they cant get anything new right so they just go back to the well with dead space. the journal stuff from seasons sounds interesting, would be cool to see devs like Naughty Dog incorporate a more interactive journal in their future titles

I say if you console gamer wait for a sale because PC gamers will get Dead Space for $60 while Playstation and Xbox player will have to pay $70. Developers stop treating console players as buffers for PC stealing or going to different sites for even cheaper than $60. Equal pricing on Console and PC like Forspoken.

Let me tell you guys what this review is and why you can’t trust it. 1- people who are giving their thoughts on this game and have played 30 minutes of it are for some reason on this review panel. 3- Instead of giving an honest review the juked to make sure they don’t hurt the feelings of Glen Schofield and his crap ass game that is Calisto Protocol when Glen has clearly been on record stating that he didn’t see the reason for a dead space remake ( What do you say now Glen with your game that released half done) 4- every other reviewer has praised this game as on the same level as RE2 remake which was a game of the year contender. 5- I’m playing Dead Space remake right now about 3 hours in and it is phenomenal. 6- This is exactly why you can’t trust reviewers and why they say what they say. They want to make sure they don’t burn their bridges with striking distance and make it “ fair “. Meanwhile they give this masterpiece the same score as Calisto !!! Come on Kinda Funny…your better than this. Keep in mind I’m a patreon member and subscriber with notifications on. I watch all their content and streams and this just makes me sad. I used to trust these guys reviews, not anymore. Greg is all about money and relationships now he is not about honesty and integrity which is why I began following him to begin with. Upsetting to say the least.
