This was to be expected of course, and they still gave objective and unbiased views on it. Like on any other project; why I rock with y’all.
@upfulsoul8266 жыл бұрын
No music reviewer can give an objective or unbiased review. All reviewers have musical tastes and have opinions (and expectations) of artists before they listen to their projects. They will tend to be more lenient with artists they like. All they can do is describe how they felt about a project and give their opinions on it.
@XxTheIKINGxX6 жыл бұрын
Upful Soul yeah, sure, shit is subjective but you can't use that to sweep away all criticism or praise for a work. like there exist standards for works of art - theres a reason the dark knight or a clockwork orange are considered masterpieces and something like batman vs superman is considered bad. if these commentators had something to actually rebuttal any of the reviewers points towards KOD then fair game but all i see is whiny ass bitching and nuthugging and neither of those are constructive.
@upfulsoul8266 жыл бұрын
XxTheIKINGxX I like BvS as a movie. I actually paid to see it in the cinema and it was a late showing too. It's not a bad movie at all and will be a cult classic. The Dark Knight is one of my fave superhero movies and Clockwork Orange is a great movie too (Stanley Kubrick is a brilliant director). However, what are the standards for works of art? All we can do is identify the complexity of a piece of art and we find critics interesting because they usually have some knowledge of the history of art in question or can tell you an artist's influences. However, a so called masterpiece may not resonate with you the listener/viewer and that's all that matters. We listen to critics to gain insight about a project not for objective or unbiased reviews. That's why, it's better to listen to more than one review about a project.
@XxTheIKINGxX6 жыл бұрын
Upful Soul well allow me to clarify then. lets take grand theft auto 5. lets say we are having a discussion on its world design and how it fits with the story. we see a watered down, "satirized" view of los angelas depicted alongside 3 straight-thinking and developed protagonists. we can have a dialogue here. i can bring forth a point on how much of the game's satire lacks focus and and how the caricatures of the world are jarring when painted alongside franklin, who seems to be the only sane or normal individual despite being a terrible criminal. you can then rebuttal, for instance, that this disonnance is apart of the game's commentary or maybe that im wrong when i say the satire lacks focus and devolves into a parody instead. see this is a dialogue. we are coming to understand that there are things that create cohesion in a work and we are trying to work out potential flaws. when we say its all subjective we decide not to put any credence on these flaws, we dont have any effective dialogue when it comes to discussing the worth of something. this is my point. when people say, in response to myke or ken, "hey, this album is DEEP and you guys dont get it" without responding directly to their criticisms and explaining why they may be wrong it becomes pointless babble. just buzzwords that fail to contribute to the conversation.
@chrismalinowski6546 жыл бұрын
XxTheIKINGxX myke was constructive tho. Ken was just being very condescending throughout the video but myke gave Cole credit for talking about important topics and said he was a good rapper but that his production and delivery was boring to him, as it always has been for him. Feefo liked the album but he didn't really add much reason for it which was disappointing but still. Definitely far from their best review, but I think the backlash is a little too much. People shouldn't get so caught up in others opinions. We don't have to agree on everything.

@flirtatiousturtle1636 жыл бұрын
Most reasonable people would consider them nowhere near comparable to J. Cole. Artists like 2 Chainz and Migos are solid for the sound and fan bases they're trying to reach. J. Cole is an above average rapper who comes off a little boring.

King Arthur 2 Chainz and Takeoff and offset from Migos can really rap when they really want to if you guys don’t like they sound that’s a different conversation. People always hate on someone’s opinion. They’re so bothered by how you felt. It shouldn’t affect them.

I loved your J cole review and I am a J cole fan. I appreciated everyone's input. If I had known that you guys were going read all the mean comments I would have left one. I had friend that went to St John's with Mr Cole and she said when there was open mic nights etc, ppl would laugh at him and his "woke" raps. But please keep doing stuff like these. Myke, I don't know why you get so much hate, I love you and your opinions.

...been around from the start fellas and the growth is uber dope so keep it up...I am a Cole fan and I have to say that this album fill the generation gap, by appealing in bite size pieces to the overall spectrum of hip hop...give it several listens and it may grow on you...now about reading comments after a “bad” review is cool as we can get a peep at what people are feeling and then add some dialogue around that is dope
