Drake, fresh off his beef with Pusha T, returns with a double album. 'Scorpion' is his fifth studio album and was released on June 29, 2018. It's a double album that's 25 tracks total. I’ve just accepted Drake is gonna give you what’s “good enough”. He’s not gonna push the boundaries, he’s not gonna give you anything creative or innovative. He’s a smart guy that’s gonna stay in his lane and that’s it. And that’s fine, I actually liked the album (side A) I’m not jumping up and down about it but I thought it was decent. Game the thing is Drake still had that this time. God's Plan and Nice For What are actually bigger chart wise than the majority of Drake's hits in his earlier era. And on top of that Drake had Look Alive and Yes Indeed, which are decent hits, coming into this album rollout. Ken is more out of touch with fans/popularity than about actual music quality-which is way better than being the other way around tbh. Agree that once they started talking about the album he calmed down and starting saying more sensible statements.

This album did not meet the expectations of the brand we call DRAKE. Drake is given this classic album privilege, which isn’t deserving. We camp out for the album, wait in line for the album, search for greatness in the devoid album, and clap if there are two tracks on a double album. I think the question is why, more than how mediocre this album is. Lil Wayne who had a classic mixtape was not afforded this privilege, and he is suppose to be the president of their camp. My theory is that Drake is an example of an artist occupying the space of the commercial machine champ, and not necessarily the ppls champ. And since the majority of ppl take their cues from this machine, instead of being honest we hence have the Drake affect. With that in mind he will always sell, not because of his lyrical prowess, but because of the puppet masters(the industry) controlling the strings of the masses.

This is easily Drake’s worst album. Views was bad but it still had a couple of good songs and more life is an ok listen but Scorpion was just trash. Scorpion was boring in every sense. Beats were lackluster, nothing memorable. Lyrics were corny, lame and just basic. Some flows just don’t work for him, he sounded awkward and umcomfortable.
