Hey, Apollo! Thank you for this video! I was the commander of the white-brown-green army, the one with no nickname showing ^^ A couple of interesting notes about the fight: 1) There was no cavalry backline charge, our artillery got wiped out by the Red's counter-battery fire. His Armstrong guns literally deleted our canons in a couple of shots. You won't believe how f-ing enraged we were. 2) Bow ashigaru do indeed have longer range of shot than FOtS line infantry, that's why we were so desperate to close in. 3) The black force routed right after we killed their general, as he tried to escape the hopeless fight on the left slope, my cavalry charge was just accidentally timed right when it happened. Had his commander survived, his army would still hold us off for more time in this chaotic melee and would give the reds an opportunity to bomb us back into feudal times from his dominant height. 4) I got more kills because I mostly killed black's very numerous ashigaru as they started to break, my ally did an arguably more important job containing the firepower of the red army and taking the brunt of the casualties, allowing my swords and spears to take their time and work. He did great coordinating our both joint strikes. Mad props to my ally and our opponents, literally every commander did really good in my opinion. I watched the replay several times to analyze it and I can definitely say we were balancing between victory and defeat up until the very end, by far the toughest battle I've had

Shogun 2 is still one of the most beautiful and well done games. The fact it stands the test of time this long speaks highly about how well it was made.

They should bring back Avatar Conquest in newer Total Wars. In fact they should make a 30 Years War game

Avatar Conquest would work quite well in an Early Modern war game, because the unit dynamics are very similar to those in Shogun 2, with Yaris (pikes), harquebus (muskets) and cavalry, which would help make it quite competitive; Another point is that the customization of the avatars would also fit well with the varied European fashion of the 16th and 17th centuries.

Do an Open field battle with Russia and America. ~10,000 troops each, 1,000 elite troops each. 10-15 artillery mixed. 1,000-500 cavalry mixed.
