Probably because slashers weren't as profitable and mainstream like they became after Halloween/Friday the 13th. It was a niche and thus got more passionate and engaged creators.

I love how interconnected so much of the horror genre is. From small references and callbacks to large scale homages/shared DNA with cast and crew, it’s like the entire genre is somehow one big, gory family. Hearing about how many projects have pretty substantial things in common make rewatching them that much better. Come for the gore, stay for the worldbuilding: that’s Horror.

[Insert creative username here] No All NHL teams have an emergency goalie ready to go just in case both of their goalies get injured, which rarely happens. This goalie is usually a person who doesn’t play anywhere near an NHL level. The Carolina Hurricanes were facing the Toronto Maple Leafs and both of the Hurricanes goalies got injured. The emergency goalie was a zamboni driver for the Maple Leafs minor league team and the Maple Leafs couldn’t beat him. Now it’s a joke in the hockey community that the Leafs lost to a zamboni driver that works for them.

For YEARS I thought I imagined this movie. I thought it was just a nightmare I had until recently I rediscovered it through videos like this on KZbin. I could have swore I saw this movie as a kid on my old crummy Emerson Black & White TV (all my folks would let me have) in my room by myself. I think it legitimately scared me, it absolutely desensitized me, only The Entity was more terrifying because I believed it was actually a true story (not a movie a kid should watch either). To know this was syndicated and that my memory is likely accurate is crazy validation. For years I didn't even know the name of the movie but I could NEVER forget the plaster scene. I think I wet myself at the time. A child with even half a brain would have just turned it off but I was glued to the screen like a little masochist. My parents were huge horror fans and I'm grateful that they introduced me to the genre, took the time to explain how movies were productions and what I was seeing were special effects, but every so often I'd go behind their backs and catch something I shouldn't. Play with fire, you can get burned.

I can’t get over how underrated this movies score is. This should be considered an underrated gem, that took influence from the Texas Chain Saw Massacre. The soundtrack by the composer is unforgettable, it gets stuck in my head, and it sounds like it should be recognized as a iconic film score. And just the eerie and creepiness of the mannequins in this movie. Chuck conners as Mr. Slausen sells the movie for me.
