I’m a 60 y.o. woman and never paid any attention to Marvel/DC until Ironman and whatever the first XMen film was, since I had a teenage son, I threw myself into the films. Or pretended interest to keep him talking! But Deadpool was a mind bending watch. Half horrified (superheroes don’t behave like that?!) and laughing really hard ( loved him breaking that 4th wall). Ryan Reynolds’s worked hard for maybe a decade to get this film made, put up his own money, started his own promotional campaign to get a studio to get on board…..genius move.

I've never laughed so hard during a movie as this one,had a ball watching it. This type of super-hero film isn't for everyone,but,I LOVED it totally.The Deadpool movies separate themselves from other super-hero movies with it's sometime crude humor,over the top action pieces,the fourth-wall breaks are hilarious,the banter is also witty and funny,etc,etc,..
@nazimelmardi
@nazimelmardi 2 ай бұрын
@@user-be7tc2bd6e the 4th wall is his super power kinda. It’s a skill. He can use it in the comics too to walk from one pic to another. But at the same time: half of the humor is based on your cinematic experience and other (so called) social media knowledge. He refers a lot to music, movies, etc. you can see even in this reaction that they are blind to his humor a lot. They didn’t watch movies, didn’t listen music outside a certain type, etc… like “Ripley from Alien 3?” It’s on point targeted evil humor and one of the very obvious ones but you have to watch Alien for it. 👀 So this movie can’t go down as Life of Brian. That is working still after decades, no matter the year. This? Who will watch every reference movie after 20 years?

To add in more Marvel comics background, most of the X-Men, like Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, are "mutants", which in Marvel comics means they were born with their powers. Their have mutated genes that just naturally causes powers at puberty or when they go through a personal trauma. (By the way, Negasonic had completely different powers in the comics and was only in a couple issues, I think.) Deadpool is what is called a "mutate", meaning he got his powers later through accident or experimentation. Similar to Spider-Man (bitten by radioactive spider) or Captain America (experimented on by the military). That's why the "mutates" usually have more interesting origin stories.

The silver metal guy in the movie is Colossus, real name Piotr "Peter" Nikolayevich Rasputin. Although totally human in appearance normally, Colossus is able to transform himself into metallic form. He is arguably the strongest member of the X-Men. The teenager in the yellow spandex is Negasonic Teenage Warhead, real name Ellie Phimister. She is named after the song "Negasonic Teenage Warhead" by Monster Magnet. She has numerous powers in the comics but her ability to generate explosions from her body is the only one featured in "Deadpool". At 65 years old 👴, I'm almost ashamed to admit to knowing all that (no I'm not 🤪).

What Asia's talking about in the newspaper when she was a kid is what was commonly known as "Magic Eye". It was everywhere for a few years. I had a least a half dozen books along with various posters, postcards etc. I didn't know they printed them in newspapers though. Basically it was a computer generated pattern that if viewed properly (I just crossed my eyes) a 3-d model of some sort would "appear". If y'all ever watch Mallrats Asia's gonna be like "That's the thing I was talkin' about when we did Deadpool!"
@johncspine2787
@johncspine2787 2 ай бұрын
It’s easier to help ppl that can’t see the magic eye stuff to tell them to focus on something behind, or further that the image and let the image in your foreground slide together, like when you bring your two pointer fingers towards each other and make a “floating sausage”…like, watch tv, keep your focus on the tv, put your first fingers towards each other in front of your face, bring them together but keep your focus on the tv image..you’ll see the tips of your fingers make a solid image floating in between..

@@therobotafroshow3289 Firstly, your statement is wrong. Just because it wasn’t integral to her in the early 80’s doesn’t mean that it hasn’t been an integral part of her character since. Secondly, you do realise that Deadpool didn’t start breaking the fourth wall either when he was created? First appeared in 1990. First fourth wall break in 1999 in Deadpool 28 - and that was a pretty minor one. So 8.5 years between his creation and first fourth wall break compared to 9 years for She-Hulk.

The one thing the movie didn't do a great job of; explaining why Pool looks the way he does. His mutation... his healing-factor... it turbo-charges his metabolism. Imagine your body working to heal itself after you get a bad cut, but it just works at 1,000,000% efficiency with this specific mutation (and further allows him to regrow entire limbs). When the mutation kicks-in, his cancer - which we have already seen has spread throughout multiple organs in his body - also turbo-charges... and the visual transformation is that of tumors and skin cancer growing all over his body at 1,000,000% the speed they would in a normal person. His mutation allows him to heal any injury, and while not rendering him entirely immortal it does lengthen his life-span to that of centuries... what his mutation does NOT do is cure his cancer... quite the opposite, in fact. It is the reason given in the comics for why he is a) able to withstand all mental attacks (he instantly heals any damage to his brain and can basically resist all mind-control, and most mind-reading) and b) insane (because his brain is riddled with tumors).

Deadpool's skin isn't burned. Remember, he heals. His skin looks like that because his healing factor heals ALL of his cells, including the tumors from his cancer, but it pushes those away from the healthy cells of his body, until there's nowhere else for them to go. Deadpool's skin is tumors. You can see that sometimes his makeup will change, that's because of the tumors shifting around :P When he says "maximum effort", he means it. You know how our brain has a safety switch that keeps us from injuring ourselves through exertion? He can turn that off and perform some truly superhuman stunts that definitely cause muscle tears and bone fractures and such, like punching someone so hard that you break your fist and your wrist, but he knows he can heal it almost instantly, so it's worth it. His REAL superpower is his knowledge that he's a fictional character and his ability to break the 4th wall. He's read the comics of his enemies before so he can find out how he beats them, and then does THAT :P The big metal guy is Colossus, one of the X-Men, whose mutation is that he can convert his skin into organic steel, and he is the most straight-laced goody two shoes of the whole bunch. Seriously, he's like a D&D Paladin, Lawful Good and NO FUN ALLOWED :P Ajax was a Classical Greek hero, the King of Salamis, and said to be stronger than all of Greece. Ajax the dish soap is "stronger than all grease". I think Francis had the former in mind when he named himself. Deadpool also has such a hard time finding him because he keeps asking his goons where Francis is, but they only know him as Ajax :P That final confrontation is (unofficially) on a derelict SHIELD helicarrier like the one from Avengers. Fox wasn't part of Disney at the time so they couldn't make it obvious that's what it was. The end credit scene was an homage to Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which had Ferris doing the same thing in the same robe in the same hallway "It's over! Go home!"
