More then the jokes, this movie landed visual humor and timing really well in places. The car scene fight framed like a sex scene, the "Nicepool gets 10 000 bullets and then Wolverine walks past unharmed with the dog" scene, Nicepool revealing he has no regeneration and the long beat of silence, etc. Spent a lot less time with Ryan Reynolds telling us what the joke was than past Deadpool movies, which I appreciate.

I think what makes the cameos in this movie work a lot better than some other MCU projects, is that almost all of them are for characters that people don't actually... like that much. Tobey Maguire and Alfred Molina showing up in NWH is a big crowdpleaser moment where you're supposed to stand up and clap at how cool it is, but in what other movie would Chris Evans' Human Torch from the not very good Fantastic 4 movies show up and be treated with anything resembling the same kind of love? It helps to make them feel genuine, like an actual love-letter to an era of superhero movies that the creators and actors involved hold dear. They were included because someone making the film really wanted it, and not because the grainy phone recording of their appearance was gonna get a billion retweets.

Spoilers obviously... I remembered the puzzles sounds people made when Elektra showed up, and the oooh ok when Gambit showed up (I was the most excited out of my group cuz I loved him in the cartoons), but the pure joy and surprise when Wesley snipes walked in was palpable.

Out of honest curiosity, why did so many fancast ask for people like Evans Human Torch, Snipes Blade and Garners Elektra back then? And why did so many of the introductions leave the time for people to clap, and why did many people do so as far as I can tell from my own experiences and from storys on social media? I think no one was super in love with Jaime Foxx' Electro, but with him and the other Spider-Man characters they did at least something meaningful in NWH and tried to tell the end of the story a lot of those characters never got. Scenes like Garfield-Peter catching MJ had some meaning for his story, Blade just walking around felt so meaningless und empty and 'here, you got Snipes back like the lists on Reddit asked of us, now give us one deadpollinion dollars'

Love letter to what? Unfinished projects? Non-X-Men characters? Non-Fox characters? This just felt like a typical MCU film with some Deadpool flavor, retreading everything that's been done a million times before with nothing original to add. I fail to see how it can be a love letter to anything that it itself isn't, and it certainly isn't like a 2000s X-Men film. And they clearly didn't bring Hugh Jackman, Wesley Snipes, Henry Cavil, Dafne Keen, Tyler Mane, etc. to have a positive reaction from the audience... no, surely not!

The film is strictly about the relationship between Logan and Wade and how they become friends from people who hate each other, even though this is a different Logan, but the film perfectly sets up this duet, which we will most likely see again in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, where there will be a large number of cameos of old characters and these two will clearly play their role there in the future.

I was born in 1995. I grew up with so many of these films. I remember playing with all the Fantastic 4 toys from 2005 like the stretchy Reed Richards, playing all the video game adaptations on PS2 and Gamecube, enjoying every take on superheros both pre and during the MCU. So for me, seeing so many nods to the various films I watched growing up means so much to me. Like, I know what Wade means by all FIVE Punishers, seeing Blade again after so long, Jennifer Garner's Elektra, Maybe I just happened to be one of those guys who gets all the references, but it feels like this movie was a celebration of my childhood. And as someone who's 29 and about to enter his 30s, that hits me in a special way.

Yeah, i think the main thing that makes this movie work and actually kinda impactful for me is that it’s a deadpool movie. Deadpool as a character is actually kinda depressing and he deals with it via humor, so its impactful when that monologue just cuts through all the funny and feels like it actually hurts. Thor 4 didnt work because thor is an overall serious character with elements of humor, but instead it was just all funny and undercut the legit grief hes experienced and is still dealing with.

How long is this trend of expecting a comic book movie to have some oscar worthy storyline in it with deep emotional performances, and then being disappointed that it was a comic book movie going to go on for? Deadpool and Wolvering was everything it needed to be, the humor fit perfectly, the cameos made sense and were actually there for a reason (with one EXTREMELY well placed fakeout), and the whole thing in general was just a wonderful love letter to anyone who loves either of these characters. I think Marcus was a lil harsh on the visuals being uninspired. Although there are moments where they are in a desolate dragon ball wastelands, it is undeniable the amount of effort it took for some of the set designs. I appreciate the more practical and built backgrounds than just a slop of blue screens. I think the lighting was pretty phenomenal in certain scenes even when it wasn’t needed. I also enjoyed the montage of Deadpool trying to find wolverines in every universe. I appreciated the comic accurate logan height joke and the callback to Todd mcfarlanes iconic wolverine cover. There were so many easter eggs that longtime Marvel(not mcu) fans would really appreciate. Although I did myself expect there to be more elaborate scaled set peices. I also remembered that this was a movie and they only have so much of their budget. I think they made the most out of what they were given and we got the deadpool movie that I always envisioned for the character.

With the Deadpool movies, you really have to be there for the comedy instead of the story in order to enjoy them. Marcus must not find them all that funny, and that’s probably why he doesn’t like them as much.

As someone that hasn't heard of Cassandra Nova before, I liked it just fine. I think, as a basically MCU only marvel enjoyer I don't have a problem with her. I just thought, "ok, she wasn't in any previous movies, she is a character for the comic book fans to geek out over." And that is fine. I thought she did a pretty good job of being intimidating and strangely a little hot? The way her powers were shown was interesting and unsettling. I'm a sucker for wolverine, and because of that, I settled on 8/10. I like it more than the other two.

4:30 when i saw it today, there was basically NO ONE in the theatre since it was an early morning show. It was the first time in a long while seeing a Marvel movie in theatres without the cheering, clapping, and laughing constantly and it was great

I saw it friday morning in a packed screen and it was quite reserved there too, I've never experienced the wild audience but I am in the UK so 🤷🏻‍♂️ Infinity War, Endgame, No Way Home, none of em rose above audible gasps and controlled laughter that didn't drown out the sound of the movie

I’m normally not a fan of the type of “crude” and “meta” humor that Deadpool has, but specifically Deadpool movies make me laugh at those jokes! The timing for the majority of the jokes was just perfect. And 80% of the movie was so good that I was willing to forgive any of the Marvel tropes.

I feel like the writers at least understand Deadpool from the comics more than they did in the previous movies. The other movies always wrote Wade like he's above all the superhero stuff and only helps reluctantly when his better nature peaks through the cynicism. Whereas here his entire motivation is that his deep-seated sense of self loathing causes him to be self destructive and ruin what good he has in his life and he desperately wants to feel like he's worth something. That's a proper Deadpool to me. Unfortunately it gets drowned out in all the rest of the plot so they don't expand on it enough for my taste but I appreciate the fact that the story has that emotional core to it. Wolverine's story fell flat in comparison. That was the most generic tragic backstory they could've come up with especially on the heals of Logan. But like you said he's just intended to be a pastiche of all the previous iterations of Fox Wolverine so I can live with it.

Me and my partner loved this film, the jokes were on point. The fight scenes were amazing, the car fight scene made me laugh the whole time. I liked this movie because it points out from the beginning that oh Deadpool go ascend to where you belong in the magical mcu. While deadpool himself is like hey the mcu can be cool but you cant forget your origins. Ryan himself said he and the other actors appreciate their marvel movies even if they weren’t great since it was thier origin story. Marcus points this out way better then I could.
