Hey Deady Just wanna say thanks! I passed class 2 11 years ago but failed the class 1 Your HGV training playlist popped up on my KZbin a few months ago and made me think about going for the class 1 again after all these years… I passed on Thursday with 1 minor! Hi Deady, started my training today, mostly reversing but I did do 4 pass worthy reverse manoeuvres so very happy with that, Badg my instructor told me that no question was a stupid question. Totally agree with your first point, never go over your hours, the vehicle's gross or with a defective vehicle, I worked for emr at Chard in Somerset before my daughter was born and we never let a bulker go out overloaded, it's your licence so protect it, stay safe and have a good weekend

the reverse onto bay 47 @36 minutes, I cannot find a fault with at all, yes a little too shallow towards the end, but timing and positioning were spot on to recover it. the only thing I will say is a little too hard with the slam against the bay, nearly hard enough that the company is now in Southampton!! lol. great vlog Deedy, keep up the great work, love watching these at stupid a.m. still got 18'ish minutes left to watch, but am enjoying it.

I've run out of that depot at Normanton and was saying to myself 'you'll have a job getting out going that way" just as you said it . Great advice on the vlog. Two months into my Class 2 job was asked to take out a vehicle with an obvious defect . Said I would help transfer the load but won't take it on that vehicle. I know my former employer, a local authority, really had to clamp down on driver and vehicle infringements because they were in danger of losing their Operators Licence. They removed spare wheels from every vehicle across the board because you had social services bods losing wheels from their cars because they couldn`t change them safely. There was a minibus driver sacked because his minibus had four tyres that were showing the steel cords. The amount of faulty LA vehicles stopped by VOSA, as it was at the time, was so high VOSA was actively seeking them! Loss of the O Licence would have resulted in the LA not being able to operate anything over 3.5 tonnes and they would have needed to farm out services tp the private industry, no doubt at extra cost!

I’ve been driving 30 years and some days I hate the job. Because I’m getting old being thrown about in a seat for 12 hours is becoming a pain. At least with this driver shortage companies are at long last paying half decent money.
@marknucita82843 жыл бұрын
Great video, pointing out weight and the hours is very important I dont drive HGVs but dont agree with the Goverment saying we will sort out the shortage by letting drivers drive more hours. The person who made that statement should spend a week tramping, shadowing a driver doing 60 plus hours, see what its like. If people making rules have done the job you get better results. PS Back to weight, i think i am correct saying each ton over weight is a grand fine £1000, so its not worth an extra hous money.

If that makes sense 🥴
@TheColv3 жыл бұрын
Only have to start a 30 minute break before ‘6 hours working in one go’ is up - so 5 hours 59 minutes working time in one go without a break is legal p.s. If you’ve already had a 15 minute break - that sort of kind of resets the 6 hours working time so, as long as your driving time hasn’t reached 4&1/2 hours, you don’t have to have a 15 AND a 30 minute break within 6 hours - but you do need to have at least a total of 30 (started and finished breaks) within 9 hours - (or 45 minutes break for over 9 hours but by the time anyone gets to 9 hours working they’ll probably have done 4&1/2 hours driving anyway) But don’t forget that working time breaks rules and driving time breaks rules are different regardless of if you’ve worked 6 hours or 9 hours or just drove 4&1/2 hours straight I hope I haven’t confused you more 🤦♂️🙄

Even better than a satnav, buy a truck map. Maps don’t break or freeze. If any of you don’t own a sat nav (like me) and do use google maps (like me) make sure you compare your route to a truck map. Truckers Britain is what you need to buy. If the route takes you down low bridges. Use a map and google maps to plan around the bridge etc. Don’t be afraid to put your hazards on and pull on the side of the road if there’s an unknown diversion to check a map if your driving in a Decker Cus the twat in the car beeping behind you ain’t running 16ft tall. Piss poor planning leads to piss poor performance. Plan your route, check your height and have a safe journey. Ps. Don’t blindly follow a satnav unless you know it’s going to get you exactly to where you need to be. It’s hilarious when you see drivers in the car park of a dc because they blindly followed the satnav

Another good one Deady. Just wanted to ask a quick question. I’m wanting to take my C and C+E tests but every job I’m looking at is asking for at least a year’s experience. I don’t want to spend £2k plus and struggle to find work. Do many companies/agencies take on new drivers?
