Good video Mr.Dale. i trap a lot behind the usda department trappers here in North Carolina. And i deal with a lot of educated beavers. You have gave a lot of information on your channel. That has helped me with those wise beavers. Thanks.

I normally trap in the winter months but I’ve found since the $$ increase in beaver I have to look close to see if there are any VERTICAL beaver sticks in the dam either at the crossover of a kicked-in dam break also in the close runs. Most will have wire on them if you check real close! Really, anything vertical tells me that there’s been another trapper there probably in the fall. I scout in early-mid October but while doing so Im pay attention to detail so that when I come back 12/1 added features such as vertical sticks is a dead giveaway-away that other trappers have been there. Being observant is being forewarned!!

Pretty crazy how fast beaver will move around the country following the water level. We had 4-5” rain one weekend on my southern line and a couple weeks later I was setting up some new farms with sign everywhere but just got the few that stayed in the duck ponds. The rest followed the river as it dropped back down and were gone before I even got traps set. One trick I learned is to watch the fresh exposed mud line at the waterline for fresh sign on crossovers. If no fresh sign they’re probably gone already. Great tips Dale!
