This is why I feel its always really important to dive into other guitarists styles. You might find something that sounds simple to your ears can be a big challenge because the guitarists starts with upstrokes or picks every note without any legato. Little things like that can really push you out of your comfort zone if you have already developed your playing to do the opposite. Its really challenging to re-program your brain and fingers to do something that feels unnatural.

I used to for the longest time sit in front of a stereo and work out veil of maya Meshuggah after the burial and through the eyes of the dead by ear. Im not saying its better but it is definitely more satisfying not “cheating” but fuck me there were many times i wish i had them though closest id get if i was lucky was a play through from a bandmember or good cover on KZbin. Still not a big fan of computers in general so as cool as i think axfx is idk if ill ever get one because not only do i have to understand the axfx learning curve i have to learn the software on the computer too. As a guitar player with little patience, this is very inspiring to see such a skilled musician struggle to learn a song and keep going. I typically give up after 15 mins and just go through ultimate guitar trying to find different songs, learning little riffs here and there and rarely every sticking with a complete one. Last song I learned was Black Winter Day. The intro took forever to learn, but finally got it. The rest is pretty much just power chords. Tried to learn From Wisdom to Hate and got lost somewhere in the middle. I might revisit that one this weekend after watching your video.

51:50 reminds me the "Hysterical Laugh" of Walter Withe (S04E11) and is understandable... (By the way, good analogy between Necrophagist & Bloodborne)

@@DeanLamb I think you're a bit beyond Meshuggah, if I'm honest. I can comfortably play a lot of Meshuggah, but wouldn't stand a chance at Archspire/Necro (I've tried a few tabs). Still love to see it though... :)

I think most people who like the other music (e.g. necro) want to try and play that music simply cos it sounds cool and it feels awesome if you can play that. At least that's my mindset
