During his solo, Marco incorporates some signature elements and flourishes from (at least) four famous live solos from some of the best drummers in history: - Dave Weckl (see the legendary Colaiuta/Gadd/Weckl ensemble performance from the Buddy Rich memorial concert, AKA the best drum video on KZbin) - Virgil Donati (his both-ends-of-the-stick flourishes; one of Donati's Stockholm clinic videos shows that technique pretty nicely) - Mike Mangini (his "crab armed" crossover lateral fills and that seven note closing riff @41:26, both from the legendary live solo from an Extreme tour on the green Pearl kit with the remote hats) - Terry Bozzio (his double kick patterns from the _Baby Snakes_ era Zappa tour which Marco plays a modified form of @41:17 right before the solo's sign-off)

That was a pretty sweet night, the energy was so crazy cause people wanted to thrash like their lives depended on it but also wanted watch/absorb every note played. ive seen footage of other shows with that line up, but i always felt like that night was evil magic ,every member was on fire just vibing of each other and the crowd, i was so blown away by how well Marco took to the material ( i was already a huge fan of his solo and clinics, i remember losing my shit hearing he was gonna tour with them). Everybody there had been whipped into a frenzy with the bands before, I got there a bit late but i remember catching Decapitated, Cephalic Carnage and Cattle Decapitation. the whole event felt like a mini fest with all the bands setting up merch by the bar area..fuck man such a good show, beer was dirt cheap then too, fucking ripper man!!
