This was the song that knocked the Beatles out of the number one spot on the Billboard Charts. When that happened he sent telegraphs to Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley with three words..."I did it!".😉😁

In 1964 our dad brought stereo record player home along with 2 albums. One was George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue/An American in Paris, the other was Dean Martin's Greatest Hit's Volume 1. I fell in love with both of them & listened to them to the point where, when I was in high school, I could sing along with Dean and actually sound like him. A couple of decades later, I got tricked into singing this song (Karaoke) at a holiday party at the local FOP Lodge. They called my name to sing ... what could I do? After listening to the song for almost 30-years I knew the words by heart but I had never sang in public before; in 3rd grade my knees shook like castanets just reading a poem in front of the class. Sooo ... I got up there, took the mic, reached way down low and belted out like I was at The Hollywood Bowl ... and the crowd went nuts. Sure solved my fear of public speaking.😎🎙

I grew up with Dean Martin. Let's not forget there was no internet, minimal television. If you wanted entertainment you went out and took in a show. And this is what you got. An amazing singer and they do not make them like this anymore.

Ever notice apple juice and whiskey look the same in a glass? Dean did looonnnngggg time ago. he was a devote family man but he knew his audience and his craft. One of the all time great voices, never tire of hearing him sing

Right on. It was Sinatra who boozed it up onstage. I saw him in '93 & somewhere near the last 3rd of the show he held his glass up & said, " Someday I'll beat you Jack Daniels." He was still singing fine, but he was just a little unsteady in his feet but not bad for someone pushing 80.

All those years with Jerry Lewis rubbed off, I guess!! He is very funny. But that voice was special. The Rat Pack. Nothing like them since.

They must have been still feuding during this time, because when Jerry Lewis filmed The Nutty Professor, that obnoxious alter-ego character of Buddy Love was supposedly based on Dean Martin.
