While my friends were going nuts over the Beatles I was secretly swooning to Dean Martin on old 78's and vinyl. He had a beautiful voice.

Boomer here. When I was young I never missed Dean Martin, Perry Como, any of the other variety shows. Those were the best days of TV 📺 😍. Martin and Como were both Italian. If memory serves me, his real name was Dino Martino. All his songs were great.

This written in 1953 in Mexico as you can hear by the opening instruments. Dean, The King of Cool, recorded it in 1954, a song about a dancer totally infatuated with his partner. The beautiful guitars are 💎💎, the horns and Dean's vocals are so attractive. This has been covered by Bobby Rydell, Ben E King, Cliff Richards and Michael Buble. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Cynthia. Great memory. 👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦.

The king of cool is a title for him that I can agree with, but I believe it's shared with Miles Davis. Nevertheless, it was definitely a wonderful time period for music.

He also had a major hit with "That's Amore". It is on the sound track of the 1980's movie "Moonstruck", someone may have heard it.

As much as I love me some Frank, Dino was my favourite crooner, that voice made in heaven, singing those great old tunes that really do make you wanna sway. I was an 80's gal, so I didn't learn to really appreciate this music until I was a bit older. 'Return To Me' is my favourite Dino song, magic. Nice one Harri. ❤

Dean Martin was such a smooth crooner with a nice relaxing voice. He was nicknamed "The King of Cool". This is before auto tuning. Artists had to be really able to sing. And the lyrics were clean, romantic & really meant something. He has a huge library of great songs such as "You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You", "Ain't That A Kick In The Head?", "Memories Are Made Of This", "Volare" etc. Dean Martin was also part of the famous Rat Pack in the 60's along with Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. & others.

Dean has a great voice and he was a singer before he ever became famous in movies with Jerry Lewis. FYI, Harri, in 1964, Dean boasted to his teenage son that his new song "Everybody Loves Somebody" would knock The Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night" out of the top Billboard spot, and it did, shooting straight to #1. I even remember when it happened, seeing as Beatlemania was in full swing at the time, and I was (and still am) a huge Beatles fan. I was a bit upset, but Dean's song was so great that I quickly forgave him and was walking around at 7 yrs old, singing the main line, "🎵Everybody... loves somebody... sometime...🎵." Dean is smooth, man, smooth.

Dean Martin had a 63 year career. He appeared in at least 35 movies; most of which he sang in. His musical career was awesome, w/ #1 hits galore. He had a TV show on which he sang solo and with some of the greatest bands and individual artists of his day. There's a bunch of KZbin videos out there from The Dean Martin Show. Worth pursuing.

Had a little trouble with my parents...but who cares, i was cool. I'm the coolest guy in the Netherlands now, with a liver like a watermelon and black lungs, but who cares, i'm cool. Any consideration of the Crooner ought to include Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra's favourite singer. So many hits, a great interpreter of the American song book - Shadow of Your Smile, The Good Life, Fly Me to the Moon, I Wanna Be Around, Cold, Cold Heart, I Wanna Be Around and his signature I Left my Heart in San Francisco - to name but a few.

Saw a reactor put him and Frank Sinatra on a pitch machine to see how close they hot the notes. Frank was a perfectionist and worked hard to get every note right, Dean on the other hand sort of danced around the notez sometime hitting, sometimes just being a bit off, but with how be slid up and down so easily it didnt matter. Apparently it drove Sinatra crazy bc je thought Dean was just messing around and still killing it. In the end, both styles worked for the singers, both were great; but i could listen tk Dean ecery day no matter my mood, and always needed Frank on certain occasions.

I love Morgan Freeman and not for just his acting, when he was asked how do we fight and stop racisim he replied "if I stop calling you whitie I would hope you stop calling me black, we are all humans and it does not matter where on this globe you were born' we are all the same and the reason why I mention this is because I love all types of music and I love the early African American music, I fear we may never see music such as those days when tech was not even a word yet. peace borther and thank tou for loving all types of music. cheers!
