Any mom with honesty can relate to all of this. What matters is you both got in and did this cleanup, and you created a great room for a growing boy. Teachable moments for both of you, and I love how you two did this. Don’t focus on shortcomings, focus on what you have done. He will remember for a long time how he ended up with a cool room. My kids are now grown adults, it happened in the blink of an eye. The stories I could tell about the horrors that lurk in closets and under beds. It’s common, it is part of growing up, learning how to cope and clean and move forward. And we do it all our lives. Great job!

"Your self worth is not connected to the cleanliness of your home" or in this case, your room. Calvin is such a sweet kid. The fact that he was disappointed in himself and actually cared that it was such a mess speaks to his character and such maturity! I remember my room looking like this as a kid lol. Actually, I think mine was worse. You couldn't even open the door very well. I was grounded until I got it cleaned up (understandably so). I think it's awesome that you worked through that with him, and you taught him how to clean. I remember being told to clean, but as crazy as it sounds, that's not a skill you're born with. It's a learned skill. I've learned so much as an adult about how to actually clean that I never learned as a child. My parents would just tell me to clean, but never actually tell me HOW. I love this so much! You both did a fantastic job! I love his cool new tween room! Congratulations, Calvin! 💙
@feraltradwife11 ай бұрын
Thank you! I am going to remember that exact phrasing to tell him next time. I also realized I was never really taught how to clean, just that I needed to clean. And I would be overwhelmed and not be able to start. Plus I really wanted him to keep at it. He cleaned with me for a few hours and I was very proud of his ability to stick with it!!

This was such a great video. Your children are beautiful. The thing that really touched me was how your son was able to and felt free to express how he felt about the stuff that came out from under his bed. Many children would have shut down and not articulated how they were feeling and get discouraged. You handled that with such honesty and kindness. That girlfriend is world class parenting in action. You're a rockstar! Be proud!

Well it looks like the fact that you dedicate your life to the care and raising of your children just isn’t enough for the sad old internet biddies. You did awesome! I like listening to these videos while I am finishing up my spring cleaning and awaiting our 7th baby to decide to make his big entrance in to the world😅 we are a very minimalist family, and I remember when my kids rooms could get that way so fast! The more we got rid of the easier and easier it got for them to keep up. Now we usually do a whole house reset every night before bed and it takes us about about 30-40 minutes for us to all work together and get everything put away and wiped down and I run room to room behind the kids with either the vacuum or broom and do floors and check their work. Just keep up all the decluttering work and it pays off big time! And the quick tidy ups every night before bed has really helped the kids learn that a little work every night keeps it from becoming a big job❤ we are all a work in progress❤

7 babies?! That is such an incredible blessing! I’m so excited for you! I think our family is perfect and complete, but also I long for having more babies. I need to tackle the kids rooms (with them of course) this week for a nice spring cleaning.

❤ thank you for showing real life and not some fake stuff that makes me feel terrible about myself. I almost turned your video off because I was so triggered 😭 but now i am happy I watched more. I realized that I never was taught anything about cleaning or organizing and my beddroom always was a drama in our household. My parents fought constantly about how to discipline me and nothing got better. I was always shamed and felt like a bad kid and humane. I was the black sheep. It was just me ans and my 2 year younger brother. His room was perfect. I am 60 years old and have continued to beat myself up,shame myself and hate who I am all because I can't keep house properly. I can offord and desperately need cleaning help due to multiple disabilities. But I'm so ashamed I don't even want to ask for that person or people. And if and when I rarely finally ask for help after they leave I feel sick from shame and anxiety for who knows how long. So thank you as I type through ugly crying for letting me know it's not my fault. And it's not yours or your beautiful son's fault either. I wish my mom had that talk with me you had with your son. Maybe not the same as my mom kept the house beyond perfect. But at leat hadn't made me feel like a the dirt that was under my bed. Be gentle with yourself sweet soul. Continue to be gentle with your kids. And I will say prayers for you sweet momma. You helped me see that I may need to try and find someone who can teach me now. And maybe not. But at least I will try and be more gentle with myself. Not everything was my fault as a child. Even though I was made feel that way. ❤❤❤

When my eldest son moved out my youngest son wanted to move into his room. He did so as it was relatively clean and tidy but then we had to tackle his old room which had piles of clothes, rubbish, homework, hamster food, toys etc. It took 12 hours to get it to a state that it could be vacuumed and the room was only a box room as we say in the UK, so roughly 6ft by 8ft!!

Do you notice that when he (or you) drop something on the floor he doesn’t pick it back up. He dropped an uno card when he was standing by the bed collecting cards. He knew it was there because he stepped on it but scooted it away. They have gotten used to having so much on the floor that it doesn’t phase them. That is something that could change. Have them pick up what is on the floor and put it in it’s designated place. Just doing that would begin to help.

Ugh the the final "little bits of miscellaneous stuff" is by far the worst part of any sorting/cleaning project for me, mostly because I'm usually over it all and decision-fatigued by that point lol I think involving your son in the process is such a good thing. I had some of my things given away as a kid (to be fair, I had grown out of them and didn't use them anymore but still) and other things I felt pressured to give away myself and I'm still a little upset about it tbh so I really don't recommend throwing things away without his input like others have commented. Learning to make decisions about your belongings and organise because you like a tidy environment is a much more valuable lesson than fear. And I guess I just have different standards than the other commenters because I didn't think his room was THAT bad... sure, it's messy but he's a kid, he's learning (just like some of us adults 😅) Overall, I think you both did a great job, both in his room and posting that vulnerability on here for others in your situation to not feel so alone (it's me, hi 👋 haha) even though there are some strangely aggressive commenters who just HAVE so share their unsolicited for opinions (I recommend just blocking them tbh there's nothing constructive or genuine about what they have to say and I wouldn't be surprised if half the reason they comment is for a reaction) And his reaction at the end was so sweet! I think he's lucky to have a mum that loves him and that's willing to go to the effort of helping him tidy and decorate his room to suit him 💜💜

Thank you so much! I could never just throw away my kids belongings without their input. I can’t imagine the damage it could potentially do to their trust in me. I appreciate all your sweet words. Your child is old enough to do his room himself. Laundry, rubbish etc he should sort through daily and tidy his room. All your children are old enough.

lol he came out with a big pot, if he comes out with that your not watching him 😂🤦🏽♀️

@@anitarodriguez2797 oh yeah. I’m absolutely not watching him because he’s not 3. Also, that’s what my kids put by their bed when they feel sick and are worried that they won’t make it to the toilet. It’s what I grew up doing too. Please drop any other judgement on my other videos! The engagement sure helps! 🙌

Can't tell you how many times my kids rooms looked exactly like that! Now my kids have kids...and they outgrew it:) No shame and people who judge you or your family only do so due to their own insecurities and self loathing. So fuck them.

I know. It’s awful. But I struggled for like 20 hours to get this thing to upload. I’ll have to see if I can correct it through KZbin :)

By the way.. did you know those pictures aren't lined up and level? 🤔🧐
@feraltradwife11 ай бұрын
No they are. Watch the whole video again, start to finish. Make another KZbin account, like and subscribe from that new account. Then watch it all the way through again. Repeat until you see how exactly lined up those pictures really are. 😉
@@lauramitchell6725oh no..I didn't miss it 😂. I was just giving her crap and being sarcastic because that's what we do.

First, clean out dishes & whatnot. Second, trash. Third, clothes. Then, papers. Should be easier then. My brother's room was bad, but he had other problems going on. Baby's room shouldn't be like this (whether he's little or a tweenish young boy). Even when my very young, single mom w 3 kids under 5, lived in a basic apt in North Hollywood, 1970's, she never had a room looked like this. Our 20ish yr old mom would have been mortified to have anyone see a mess like this. Not teaching and helping him clean is bad. Having him leave it like that for sake of a video, is even worse. Alllll that dust isn't good for him to breathe.

There is nothing wrong with your son. It a the mother’s job to keep the home tidy, not the child. You clearly have not been in that room for weeks judging by the state of it. Blaming a child like this is all wrong.
@feraltradwife11 ай бұрын
Not blaming him at all. Not only is that room messy, but my whole house is often a complete train wreck. It’s something I’m working on and trying to install better habits in my children.
@genevievepetruzzelli44238 ай бұрын
For starters he’s 11 years old and absolutely can clean up after himself. Second of all did you not hear her talking to him and taking most of the blame? I think some things wrong with you.
@widowswatch661011 ай бұрын
This is not right . How can you let your sons room get like this. This is wrong. You definitely do not discipline your son. This is just not right mom. Kids should start to learn to pick up as a 2 year old. Wow I am shocked you would make this video so the people could see this. This certainly doesn’t make you look good or the kid.

I don’t make the videos to make myself look good. I can see you have big feelings! I hope you can feel better soon.
