Hi guys, as many of you know, I have been working on this video the last few days since Destery posted his 'My Thoughts' video. Obviously this situation is incredibly convoluted- as Destery himself designed it to be- so please bear with the length of this video. Please be kind to everyone involved; every new piece of information we learn from each other is incredibly draining and we are all just doing our bests to shed light on an important situation. That comment hit hard for me. I had a 31 year old boss at an old job that manipulated me and tried becoming “friendly” by telling me he just wanted to smoke and cuddle. I was in a really bad place mentally and let him take advantage of me. He got me drunk one night and I woke up in his bed with no memory of what happened. Honestly, they might still. Talking to someone online in their messages is a way to get close (or at least closer) to them. I remember being a young, honestly quite naive girl. I have abandonment issues from my childhood and I wanted to feel like someone cared. If an older guy sounded concerned and said he wanted to talk about something, even if it was his own inexcusable behavior, I can still see girls taking that as an invitation to get closer to him.

I find it very hard to believe that Destery's actions are completely inexcusable and for him to talk about "he's no longer this person anymore" really has nothing to do on what he actually did to his victims. This dude deserves be arrested and charged right now for what he did to groom minors and get away from all of this. It's just not fair. No child deserved to go through extremely horrific times like this especially to the ones you look up to and who you idolize to by finding out they're giving you a playbook of an evil monster. One of my friends has a super close child hood friend that made a Facebook post about destery grooming her and other folks. At the time I was like wait what? Destery??????????? I’m not sure if she tried to get her story out and it wasn’t heard, because for months I heard nobody mentioning anything about him being a groomer anywhere. Now being older and realizing his behavior was by no means appropriate for children (his main audience), It’s honestly sickening to know this is what he was doing off camera. All of this is so scary to me because I remember being THE BIGGEST fan of DesandNate as early as being a literal middle school CHILD. I was too shy to comment on videos as a KID. I didn't have Twitter or Instagram or anything to talk to him as a kid but I remember I had the biggest crush on him and the scary thing is I know as a hormonal younggggg teen I would have probably done anything for him if we ever talked. I remember watching Desterys videos and being able to relate to the times that he would vent because I was like "hey I had a bad relationship with my mom and had my heart broken too!". I've been following Destery for so long that it's so disappointing that so many older youtubers are being exposed. It honestly hurts. People I looked up to, followed, wished I could meet. this sounds so much like my ex (sans the minors part). we were in a ldr relationship for a year and a half, and the last 3 months of our relationship he was in a whole other relationship :). and the best part is that i was the secret one. none of his friends knew about me, they all knew about her. he would tell me she was his friend and then tell her the same thing about me, and all of this went on until he was sitting in my room crying about how he cheated on me a “couple times with some girl.” :) i ended up finding out the whole truth and now looking back and watching this video, i’m seeing all the manipulation and gaslighting i was put through. so in a way, this video kind of helped me finally see the full scope of my own shitty situation.
