OMG!! Girl. Just broke down in a hysteretic laughter because I also stupid. I wear noise cancelling headphones and I just woak up And my partner made the remark "what's up with your headphones?" and I was confused. I thought they were turned on and connected because I heard a small amount of sound. I thought somehow the volume on your vid was just so bad. I kept turning up my volume on my phone. OMG I just laughed so hard for like ten minutes. Hey Shannon, somebody asked me if the section about me was true so I gave it a listen. Only part that was off was why I cut things off with Billie..she texted me and threatened to ruin my life if I even hugged you for a music video.😅 So that rubbed me wrong and I split with her. You’re right though, there was money to be made from our situation. But I will say, from my one on one discussions with Bryan about that back in the day - he was pretty caught off guard by our relationship. So I don’t think that situation was intentional? Or at least, I don’t want to believe that. Anyways, I never really talked about my experiences in depth from that era, neither good or bad - i never really wanted to overshadow your stories during that time either. I was very upset with how you all were made to feel so I tried my best to defend you guys and make sure you werent being taken advantage of. Especially when the MDE 2.0 reboot came up..I was not letting that happen to you guys. I had already been in a similar situation long before I met you all, and I wasnt going to see it happen to my friends. Anyways, glad to see you’re doing well. I hope this wasnt weird. I loved MDE so much as a child but looking back as an adult it was so exploitative to you guys. Especially post-Austin, y’all & Damon all deserved so much better 🥺 Bryan noticed the talent in all of you and sucked it out of you guys because he didn’t have any himself. BryanStars was brought to life on screen through a combination of groundbreaking practical effects and CGI. Highlights include a full size animatronic which was used for close up shots requiring mininal movement. Another full size highly detailed puppet controlled by a team of seven people was utilized for moments that required faster, more complex movement. The wires from the puppet were then digitally removed in post production. "The effects are starting to show their age now, but I'm very proud of what we were able to achieve for the time." Johnnie Guilbert would remark in a retrospective interview. "The final video. Where we said goodbye. That was all done with the animatronic." "Alex and I were instructed to move and speak as little as possible otherwise it would be obvious to viewers that we weren't sitting next to a real human."

I always watched MDE when I was 12-13 and I would always watch everyone’s personal channels except Bryan. I could always tell that he wasn’t being real with his viewers. His vibe was never right. I never knew you made this. I remember feeling bad for both Johnnie and Kyle, cause Johnnie got the brunt of everything and was around Bryan the longest. i only just came across this video, i saw johnnys when it first came out. i was such a huge mde fan going through high school and especially a big fan of you and johnny because of both of your transparencies with your mental health, you both helped me figure out so much stuff in my life. I always had a feeling in the back of my head that there was something so off with bryan and when everything came out about him i wasn’t surprised at all tbh. it's really crazy because I remember meeting Bryanstars at warped tour in... 2014? 2015? and he was with Jordan, Johnnie, and Damon i believe at the date i was attending. i remember being so excited, but Bryan was actually incredibly rude and offputting towards my friend and I and he even snapped at Johnnie when Johnnie came over to talk to us. i was really surprised, and genuinely didnt know how to react to it because I had looked up to Bryan. after that, I never really knew how to feel about him. i didn't know whether it was just a bad day for him, or if that's who he really was. (johnnie, jordan, and damon were nothing but sweet to us however so shout out to them for being so kind to fans regardless of what may have been going on behind the scenes)

Looking back it's really interesting to think about my interaction with Bryan. I went to the Warped Tour in Shakopee (I think it was 2014 or 2015? Whenever Asking Alexandria had Dennis) and I skipped a few of the stage sets to get in line to meet Damon, Jordan, and Bryan (Johnnie wasn't there and I think tweeted out that he was sick). Order was Damon, Jordan, then Bryan. Damon was so sweet because I said something along the lines of "I'm gonna have a heart attack" or some weird fangirl shit and he was just like "Oh no don't do that, nice to meet you" type stuff, signed my little notepad, gave a hug(?). Jordan was nice, signed note pad, gave a hug(?). Then Bryan's turn, said hi, signed notepad, and I went to walk off and Bryan said something along the lines of "(don't forget) your hug!!" and he walked from behind the table, past the little tent pole thing, and hugged me. I believe this was when Bryan was in his "scene" era and although not nefarious on the surface, I think it kinda plays into how he wanted to be seen and treated like one of the MDE members despite being a manager.

I think it very much came from the reasons Shannon touched on. I mustve been like 13 to 15 when I was watching Brian almost religiously and to me the appeal came from him being just the most normal random dude. There was still a lot of petty hate towards 'emo' culture and bands and obviously in your teen years you often feel alone and misunderstood and theres a lot of stress in life in general. So seeing a normal guy, one of those people who'd usually make fun of you for liking those bands or at least call you weird, be (what seemed like at the time to me) genuinely invested in the subculture and music was kind of nice to see. It very much had a 'he gets it' appeal. plus back then non of these questions seemed corny or weird. it was probably partially the age and partially just the times. it was kind of a mindset of 'youtube is just people doing their own shit and not public television. so we can swear and lockeroom talk all we want and we're gonna embrace it to keep it real and not go corporate'. all in all there were a lot of factors that played into it but it just worked back then sadly

My god this takes me back. I was 14/15 back in the day, (22 now), and I remember when all of this went down. Every video, every tweet, every YouNow stream, every little incident involving everyone (even the ones not in MDE, but close to you guys involved regardless) that led up to it, everything. From you Shannon, to Catching Your Clouds, SayWeCanFly, Austin Jones, Christofer Drew, the tour, and even the drama with Our World Away, (which Ik doesn’t involve you, but I feel at some point that should be talked about because I know people forget about the second attempt at a collab channel, AKA, Our World Away). This video really took me down memory lane, and what’s crazy is it doesn’t even feel like that long ago.

I think as of this year I've been a fan of your's for 9 years? I remember when the MDE tour was announced and I wanted to go SO badly but I felt like my parents wouldn't have gone for it because we had a lot going on at the time and I was much younger. Im watching this a year later, but i grew up from like 12 to when the fall of mde 2.0 watxhing everyone, but bryan and i rhink alexs' videos separately. I met Bryan in 2013, i was 13-14, when the second tour came through my area (he was still friends with Kriss at this point, Kriss was his merch guy before Johnnie, he went by KrissTheBunny) and when I asked for a hug, he gave me one of those awkward side hugs, but he rubbed my back and felt my hair and said "OOH I love your hair, how long did it take you to curl it like this?" and I just stood there like "Um...thanks??? My hair's naturally curly...". I cringe to this day whenever anyone touches my hair without consent because wtf?? I asked for a hug, not him to play with my hair.

Love both you & Johnnie. Yeah I remember when I was a kid in middle school oddly enough was when I kind of got exposed to the Metal, Rock, Punk, Goth, Emo, Alternative, & Indie scene after listening Escape The Fate for the first time. And back then I was like a beginner emo and because of that I discovered BryanStars. And for me personally it was cathartic because I was actually being bullied at the time and listening to all those bands was something that I truly loved. Unfortunately, before I started high school my parents banned me from listening to bands like ETF and all that and I felt I was forced to like all the other kids. And when I was in 11th grade going to 12th was when I got back to it saying to myself fuck what the other kids listening to. I listen to what I want to listen to. And during that time I was like holy shit when I heard about MDE & the controversies that happened. I was shocked. But yeah we’ll always remember him for his interviews. But yeah like what Johnnie mentioned in his video I hope Bryan betters himself & I hope he gets better for not just his sake but for your sakes as well. And I’m just curious but I’m actually wondering what all the bands & musicians that BryanStars interviewed think of him now?

I saw all three videos of the rise and fall of bryanstars. I found him at 21 in 2012, and still don't care about the my digital escape drama and only knew johnnie guilbert in 2018. I wish he did more of the pop punk scene and hardcore scene and doing tour vlogs more like the wapred tour ones.
