This is a fine piece of work. Rebbie, you never gave up on yourself and you transmuted your suffering to bring art, healing and psychoeducation to others. This is true healing. I have had my own hero's journey through ED and so much more. I would love to connect with you and will send you an email if I can, I watched you all through graduate school for clinical social work. Thank you for your gift of vulnerability.

For me, the first thing that becomes so tangible when watching this is just how _powerful_ the disorder is. I think -- even for clinicians -- this can be easy to lose sight of sometimes. I've never quite understood until now just how much courage it takes to leave this powerful false friend -- i.e., the disorder -- behind. This must make the person suffering feel so utterly vulnerable and exposed. I am very grateful for the insights you share here. And, yes, you are clearly a person that can do very hard things. Opening oneself up like this is one of the toughest things imaginable. Thank you!

Cried too, but I know why... It's because Rebbie is so much like me. We share the same kind of pain.

Hearing so directly your experience and mapping it to what a loved one may be feeling is profoundly insightful to me. Thank you both for presenting this work and even more so for the deeply vulnerable act of sharing and then sitting for analysis.

Love the letter you've shared, so poetic but so painful and relateable. '..I am your home, your shelter, without me you are homeless, how are you going to survive'. AND 'I am your romance , your poet, your hunger, your art, without me you have no pain, no point of reference, no ego, no body, I am your sick fuck, so fuck you, you ain't never going to share your bed with anyone else.' That last line, is so suffocating, real and relateable. It's so strange yet insightful looking back at those letters and/or journal entries, insight into the ED. Thank you for sharing : )

How do you guys analyze binge eating disorder? Without purging . Obese usually. I was/am .There’s nothing about making ourselves attractive there or confident or finding a mate like this , it’s like hiding . I feel this is always overlooked and it would be helpful to understand the underlying dynamics. Tho I understand some of the general points.

9:55 Objectifying the eating disorder is very interesting. My step daughter has one and my wife has tried to convince me that it is a separate thing from his self. Having an eating disorder is being stuck in a negative self state, an introject/s that’s offering a bad deal. “a swindler” 16:30 But I wonder if we should really be as upset at our maladaptive behavior as we are. Considering where we were, lacking knowledge and awareness, it was adaptive, filling a need… i’m going to go eat a cookie. dis-inhibition f%cK
