Hint: "Fr. Michael has now come to the Synod-not because he thinks that Metr. Philip is a heretic, but because in not breaking of with Moscow over the issue of giving communion to Roman Catholics he enters also into crypto-Uniatism, as the Metropolia already has done far more decisively. “Global Orthodoxy” has not listened to the Synod’s pleas, and therefore those who wish to remain Orthodox have no choice but to leave “global Orthodoxy.” In the 15th century those who were not with St. Mark of Ephesus were not in the Church-and this situation is being approached today." -Fr. @@Death2Compromise I'm a catholic, can you explain to me which is the doctrine in orthodox church regarding the relation of church and state?
@justian17724 ай бұрын
@@javierduenasjimenez7930 It's traditionally what is termed "symphonia", the co-operation of Church and State within their own spheres of activity - preferably with the State being Orthodox. I know I'm not the person you asked, but that's the easy answer.
@javierduenasjimenez79304 ай бұрын
@@justian1772 I like your answer. That's pretty much what the catholic church tries to achieve with every nation. I asked it because from outside the OC it seems as if every orthodox state had a church for itself which worked for it. If tomorrow Spain conquered a portion of France's territory, the CC might change the dioceses' borders eventually but if let's say, Bilgaria annexed Dobruja from Romania, there would be an eclessial and political crisis regarding each one's jurisdiction. Is this correct? Why would this happen?
@justian17724 ай бұрын
@@javierduenasjimenez7930 Orthodoxy moves slowly. Like centuries. Nations get their own sub-Churches in Orthodoxy, usually under a Metropolitan, whose charge it is to care for that people in their language. As new nations form or old nations change The Church tries to adjust. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. See Ukraine and The United States for contemporary examples. Of course politics is inevitably involved in it all, which is unfortunate. Usually these nation Churches are partially or completely independent. Legally on equal standing with each other though respect of age (Constantinople) or political and financial power (Russia) plays into it. Messy.

@@Death2Compromise Just fyi, most Russians (at least today) don't connect "Victory Day" with communism at all, or at most tangentially. @haydeen65354 ай бұрын
@@Death2Compromise I find it hard to understand as an American, but its clear that Lenin, Stalin, and the events surrounding WW2 will never be forgotten in Russia. It is called The Great Patriotic War where 10s of millions of young brave Russian men died, fighting for their country. I of course wish that Russians would tear down any monument left to Lenin or the Communist past, but I am not one to judge, because I am not Russian. It is common sense that they would have parades celebrating the victory in WW2, it is one of the most important events in Russian history. And of course there are going to be Soviet themes, because the country was Soviet at that time. I would not necessarily condemn Orthodox people in the US, for celebrating any of our Patriotic Holidays or Founding Fathers, despite the fact that all of our Founding Fathers were Masonic. It is apart of the culture to celebrating important events in the past. I think it is pretty clear that the modern day Russian State is not Soviet at all, they are on the opposite side of the political spectrum. That doesnt mean they are going to give up the past, the victory over The Nazi's is a good thing which deserves to be celebrated, whether it was done by The Soviet Regime or not.
