When someone says they don't want to be a First Lady, it often means she doesn't want to live in a fishbowl/spotlight with the judgment, scrutiny, and isolation that comes with living a public life. It is usually in reference to marrying a Pastor, but it can also apply to being the wife of a President, Senator, Governor, etc. Some people just want to live a quiet, private, Godly life without having to deal with the peanut gallery.

Yes. This is my mom. She hates when I say First Lady. My dad is a Pastor. She still has a problem with it. She hates the judgment, and also the isolation. She has to be in my father's shadow and is always put last. Smh. She's real and down to earth. But she's also an amazing woman of God. She should own it and step in her purpose, but I understand why she rather do the least. Shes private and quiet also.. likes her peace. So she is completely out off her comfort zone. 😞

I honestly believe that neither Essence nor Laterras "missed out". If there wasn't that level of connection or alignment then there just wasn't. Ofcourse it's easy to think that because they are both amazing people who aren't just morally good but have actually chosen to pursue holiness that they'd align. However, if we fall into the trap of trying to manufacture connection or alignment if we don't genuinely feel it then that will most likely lead to heartbreak. So, I applaud them both for knowing what they want, where they stand and for keeping it respectful and real.

This is hands down my favorite episode. It broke down the difference between pursing and chasing which is necessary in these dating streets. It also convicted me. As a Christian woman, I was always taught that I was the prize. I never even considered the notion that a man could be a prize also. And when Dee-1 said men don't care about how much money a woman makes unless he's a bum, I almost spit out my water. Real Godly men who are genuinely into a woman are more concerned about a woman's character. I was under the impression that character and finances that match were equally important. So when in "hustle" mode I would stop dating altogether. This episode had some great nuggets on how to date more intentionally. Also how to love on and cover my brothers in Christ, even when I am not romantically interested in them. This was a FIRE episode!
@tamienelder16662 жыл бұрын

I've commented already but this is the type of man I would define as sexy. Someone who is for God and vulnerable. Transparent on what he's still working on about himself and knows what he want out of a woman, if he ever chooses to get married. This is nothing short of how refreshing this is to see someone who is this confident in themselves. Awesome episode again.

This was refreshing! Can I say this though, as a sepiosexual I know a lot of people expect that when a "good Godly man" pursues you, you are supposed to accept him. However like Dee 1 was jokingly saying that Essence missed out on Laterras and many people feel this way too; without seeing that although people may be both Christians, sepiosexuals, genuinely good people there's a lot more that is required to make a relationship work. As a woman, who will be married one day, I'm not looking for a specific person with certain accolades or fame or any of that. 1. Is he led by God? 2. Does his vision align with mine? 3. Am I willing to submit to who he is, not just as a business person, his character, am I ok with his personality, will I be ok with his failures, am I the type of woman who will be able to bring his (our) vision alive? Will I be willing to stay through sickness, poverty and loss. Is this the kind of person I would be ok to experience loss With? A lot more goes with choosing a partner and I hope we all go through this journey with our Spiritual ears and eyes wide open!

Ooo, this is good! I love the transparency in this podcast🔥🔥🔥.Thank God for these young men who are all about God's kingdom. It's also so sad when you see the good ones get hurt and wounded, on both sides. Praying for God's best Dee! He sees your faithfulness😊

Wow! This was one of your best episodes yet! This interview really showed his personality, his heart & the Jesus inside of him. His vulnerability, honesty & authenticity was everything. His answer at the end was definitely from the truths of his heart. && any women of God that will see this comment. We MUST cover the men of God! The head of the Kingdom households. It’s MANDATORY! Praise God for your obedience Laterras. I know this strengthened hope in many women. God bless 🙏🏽

Absolutely one of my favorite episodes! I have been following Dee-1 for a while now before Slingshot David and I appreciate and admire his journey. He is the first Christian Rappers I’ve seen that not only submitted his life to Christ , but also his body ! He is definitely dropping Gems! You can’t build on looks! You have to definitely look at and know who someone follows (God) to know how he leads ! 3’s Up

This was good because he spoke with such openness, honesty & vulnerability. If we are walking the walk we must also match our words. Integrity is everything. When he started addressing the men the wisdom began to flow. Yes, beauty fades but character remains. His rap was like spoken word poetry, dynamic & creative. The letter was poetic, flow. Enjoyed the podcast. 🙏

As much as his dating horror stories are funny I love how up front his exs were in telling him what he didn't want to hear but definitely needed to hear.

This was a phenomenal episode, and he is hilarious!!! I like the vibe with you interviewing men. The whole interview was impactful, but the missed calls part/finding balance was most crucial. I LOVED his Sister Circle interview a few years ago, but this one is probably my favorite. Thank you for having him on Laterras! Edit: I forgot to say THANK YOU Laterras for recognizing your son's hurt over the dating/ rejection experience. The Spirit of Rejection is VERY real and not talked about often enough. Thank you for discussing it. The Holy Spirit will help him 🙏🏽
