After playing lance I can't play any other weapon anymore. I don't need to dodge, rarely need to heal, just poke poke poke and stick to the monster like a piece of chewing gum. I feel like I am in a fight 100% of the time rather than spending 50% on dodging.The constant damage uptime just feels too addicting.

Another thing to note about SnS is the sheathing speed and not only that just use items while your weapon is up making you not only a good damage dealer, tanker, but a support. You get back into action quick.

I've played quite a few weapons, ~850 hours (two different accounts on console and PC,) but I'll rank the top 5 since I'm most comfortable with them: 1. Longsword. Same reason, it's anime as heck, especially the perfect iai counter out of sheathe LOL 2. Hammer. Bonk goes crazy, and the weapon being flexible gives you more bonk 3. Greatsword. The numbers and knocks just give you more SO much more dopamine 4. Dual Blades. I love the quick pace. Watching your DBs journey using raw damage made me pick this up recently. Didn't want to deal with elemental matchups, so I use R!Brachy DBs 5. Lance. Tbh, I've mostly used lance in groups and love the master mounter build (I get ~5 mounts per hunt.) SUPER fun playing mounts + clutch claw counter into wallbang builds with raw dmg. Just got a health augment on my R!Brachy lance, G!Rathian armor build and I'm gonna feel unstoppable. Can't wait for Fatty armor, though. Love your content man

my top 3 favourites are Sword and Shield, Insect Glaive, and Hunting Horn they are all #1 imo

Just started playing again. I would say 1 is greatsword. 2 is long sword. 3 is insect glaive. Just picked up charging blade giving that a spin.

I easily have (over the course of all MH games) 100 or so hours in each melee weapon except for long sword. they are all great and really makes you appreciate other weapons that your fellow hunters use

Greatsword is in my heart #1 forever but recently returned to longsword hands down #2 it’s so badass and fun #3 DB for now they’re easy and chill but a bit basic so could change as I learn more weapons

So is bow not good for a solo playthrough or it’s more about being use to it due to the double damage? Is now a good time to learn bow for wilds with four months in between even though bow is always deco heavy?

I beat fatalis with all the weapons and heavy bowgun is by far the hardest weapon i used against fatalis

Early master rank the great jagras SnS is pretty good for raw damage if you use elementless jewel. The pukei pukei SnS is pretty good too. Once you get to rathian that SnS is a good choice. Also the legendary bang is good for elementless. Once you reach the final boss of iceborne his SnS is really good. Once you get access to frostfang barrioth event quest, his SnS is really good for Ice damage. Good to use for Alatreon. The best raw damage SnS before fatalis is the raging brachydios SnS. Then once you get to Fatalis obviously the Fatalis SnS is the strongest SnS in the game.

What you could do is go back to high rank and get the Lunastra/Xeno Jiva SnS. I rode with that one in Master Rank until I got the Brachydios one.
