My ESFP sister, however, has and was in the school chess club. I don't know who needs to know that but I said it anyway it seems.

@@trebaneconapise7793 Me, an INFP joined chess class because I did not know how to play chess and thought that it'd be an easy A. Grade was determined by your rank in class so first is 100 and 2.d is 99 etc... what I thought would be basically another study hall for the end of the school day turned into a struggle between the 24 of us that signed up trying not to be last. There were 2 ESFP's that joined for the same reasons as me, though for one of them, learning the game was just a front so she could talk and play at the same time and do good enough to not drop into the C range. I respect her. The other never could pick up chess and was bad and eventually instead of goofing off , towards the end he tried to learn strategy and stuff. Still towards to bottom, he realized too late that he needed to try. Pain.

INTJ here...was playing strategy game with friends one time and tried to convince one of them to accept a trade agreement. His response was "Look me in the eyes...can I trust you?" And I looked him in the eyes and I said, "The moment your borders are undefended I'm going to break this treaty and attack, but that's half a game away and and might not even happen. Do you want the bonus resources until then or not?" He took the deal.

I am an INTP and my wife is an INTJ. We play a lot of strategy games. After we play any game enough times she knows exactly what I am going to do and uses that to out maneuver me regardless of if there even direct conflict associated with the game. I learn to play the game, but she learns to play against me.

Too many times have me (INTP) and my INTJ friend formed a temporary alliance against the other two players, knowing very well that either one of us two would win if everyone would play for themselves but that we would lose if the other two would take us one after the other. So it often came down to choosing the right time and correct alliance details to make out who of us would win in the end. Obviously, we would call each other's options out all the time so everyone could react to it, like "Remember INTJ still has three resource cards that could be used for another city, so don't make any trade that seems too be good for you to be also good for him. It _is_ good for him!" or "You better settle that way because otherwise INTJ is going there and taking another resource he is currently lacking, which would make him independent from trading with us." Just to be clear, we also often lost, but we were the most competitive and doing "untrusting alliances".

i agree with the isfj cool scene it's such a breath of fresh air... i find that isfjs are represented as the submissive and compromising one (hence "weakness") in this channel but if anything, I think isfjs are really strong. i cant bring myself to not Te tone myself in a conversation I am Ni or Fi passionate about but they nod or validate my ideas a lot even if they disagree or dont really care which I cant do. Hence, this is my favorite representation of isfjs, they genuinely scare me too with how nice they are.

ISFJs are behind-the-scenes stabilizers; their natural inclination is to equalize/stabilize everyone's emotional needs; this might come across as manipulating to you but it isn't; don't associate a negative connotation to this and in fact, if you think that their approach is somewhat sensible, accept it and take it on. Also, I think that it is better for everyone to learn how not to be manipulated and how to value others as individuals instead of remarking a subset of them as doormats and such.

Lol as an INFJ, I went on dates with an intp and we used to have such long conversation after which I had the impression the intp wasn't really listening to the things I was saying. After a lot of (very) long dates he suddenly drops a non sarcastic "oh you are such a wonderful person, so smart!", which really shocked me. I really admire there inteligence, but I confess sometimes it's a little hard to cope with the fact they have little skill in reading your emotional needs.

I find her way of thinking fantastic, out of this world, inspiring, sometimes terrifying and revolutionary, ... I love how she opens my mind to a lot of things (especially about people, values/ideals, alternative views on how to live our most fulfilling life...), without trying. We love psychoanalyzing everything, and talking about concepts (and so on). I don't know your INTP, but I believe it was a compliment.

ESTPs are such an underrated type, and can very often get on amazingly with INTPs due to the former wanting to bring the latter out of their shell and having a more palatable method for doing so than Feeler types (eg discussing philosophy/history/politics, and not being afraid of controversial takes. Shared Ti has a lot to do with it as well). They’re a pairing that should get more hype.

Yeah, I am an ESTP and my bff is an INTP. I like how she always makes sense and there are reasons behind what she does always. We talk about many things in the concrete and abstract world. As an ENFJ with an INTP best friend, I can safely say, my friend truly avoids all talks about his own emotions, I can see that he feels (sometimes) but suppresses them or don’t regard them as important. I am probably one of the few people who can make him talk about them, but only after some alcohol or an hour warm up in conversation in order for me to be able to dabble on the invisible line he has drawn around his feelings 😂 He also truly cares about his friendships but just not very good at showing this! I basically said yep and yep to ISTJ and ISFJ, but to ISTP I said " Now YOU try talking about conceptual things!!!" LOL My husband is an ISTP, so we joke about our differences a lot :) Also, As an INTP, I'm actually good at physical things, but I just don't particularly always like all of the ins and outs of the physical realm. And when it comes to trying something new, I usually do like to think about it for a long time first. Get it right in my head and strategize how I'm going to do it, so that helps me not fail too bad when I do actually go for it!

As an INFP I've actually gotten along well with INTPs. The same Ne means we often share the same interests...and often with people who actually share interests with me I morph into the extrovert role. XD Though it's actually not true about my values being unfounded. I've given a lot of thought and observation to those. Sorry it's Te logic though, meaning that observation tends to be a "does the idea actually work in practice" kind of thing. So Ti users should be warned that if I am not convinced that your theoretical logic actually reflects what happens if you try to execute it in real life, I will question it. XD (Though one time it got ugly with me and an ISTP because his logical framework had to do with morals and ethics and he was unable to provide evidence that the way it sounded on paper was actually going to happen in real life and that pissed him off to no end and pissed ME off because he had both my Fi and my Te mad at the same time!)

As ENTJ I can relate to this. INTPs are great ppl to talk to about ideas. But conversations need to be steered more than usual to stay in the "useful ideas" lane and go into wacky or boring off topics. So pharses, "Ok, but let's finish off first..." or "Yeah [whatever], perhaps, but going back to..." Luckily, they love the sound of their voice and usually don't mind returning back to the topic at hand.

It's not that we 'love the sound of our own voice' that's rude and condescending. No, we love vocalizing our random ideas with another source of ideas that we normally don't have access to and the thought of getting these random ideas systemized more than we could do on our own is just too tempting to pass up. You're feeding us what we love, and you're doing it with without telling us to 'oh god, please stop talking my head hurts' (this is what we've been told since childhood, we've internalized 'other people find us annoying' and that's why we don't talk a lot normally). When we find someone who we think doesn't find us annoying, we tend to latch on to that and blabber on a bit.

Personally, I had the "ENFJ" experience with "ESFJ" when I was little. The assertive over-stepping of declared boundaries creeped me so much and made me feel so powerless I panicked and retaliated in violence. Lord. As an ENFJ this description SO ACCURATELY summarizes the way I think my ISTP sister feels about me. She is made of nothing but boundaries (which I view as walls) and the only thing in the entire world I want is to be closer to her. It’s her way or the highway and it feels like she compromises very little, so sometimes I just ignore her boundaries bc again, she seems to exist of nothing BUT boundaries and it feels like it’s very one sided. I’m constantly concerned about what she needs and meeting her needs and not being “too much” for her. I rarely if ever see her put in any effort to accommodate my needs. So, after awhile, her boundaries start to almost lose credibility with me and sometimes I just disregard them and do what I need (like stay at her house too long to get some connection with her). It’s not ideal and I’d prefer not to do it but I also feel like I’m left with no choice sometimes 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm a (last year, late diagnosed) autistic INTP and the ISFJ part led me to a huge realization. So the thing with autism, specially late diagnosed autism, is that in order to be perceived as socially acceptable a lot of us subconsciously mask our autistic traits in public (to varying levels of success). When surrounded by not-so-close people, I used to come off as an ISFJ, which in turn means that for the longest time I'd been subconsciously forcing the SiFe to the surface and keeping the TiNe more subdued (outwardly, that is. My head never shuts up). Which also explains why the masking itself is always so draining, but also why I'm not so out of tune with my Fe as the average INTP. Sheer brute force and survivalism on that one. I do reckon my Si is the one that has saved me a lot throughout my life, though. And, well, ISFJs are indeed quite socially acceptable, while INTPs... (ever since my diagnosis I've been a lot less inclined to masking, so while unable to disengage with society I don't care as much about the way I'm perceived anymore).

Late diagnosed (technically undiagnosed) ENTP autistic, fairly low masking, annoyed my peers in school, swore off making friends preemptively around third grade, lived the rest of my childhood as an INTP. (Re)discovered I was not an introvert between high school and college, but still test as an introvert nearly two decades later because old habits die hard. I don't burn energy like high-masking autistics do because I don't mask my autism hard, but I don't recharge quickly, because I mask my extroversion. You "have" to mask one or the other because extroverted autism largely consists of sticking your foot in your mouth over and over again. Your conclusion that you're naturally an INTP matches up with conclusions I've made about a relationship that ended badly in which the other party was an ISFJ and (I now think) very likely autistic. She ended up dumping me as a social liability. I get it, but it had me very bitter before I figured out that she was autistic and how that played into everything, and while it's more understandable at this point, it feels like even more of a betrayal than it did. And with neither of us knowing we were autistic at the time, but me being aware that I was masking my extroversion, I was trying to advocate for myself with zero success because I didn't actually understand the dynamics of the situation, but thought I did (I thought the reason we were so much on the same wavelength was that she was masking extroversion, which I'm less sure of now). Watching the ISFJs in these videos goes back and forth between feeling sympathy for shared autistic struggles and wanting to give them a hug, and a deep grieving anger at their masking. Maybe that's a bit hypocritical given that INTP is itself a mask for me, but... yeah. A lot to unpack there.

I'm an ESFJ and I married an INTP. I learned right away that they have a different sense of time and space. 0:58 I noticed that if I pay attention to him and ask questions during his monologue that I will learn something. In return he will return my investment and listen to me monologue, gossip, and small talk for hours on end and even ask clarifying questions. If I give him enough alone time he will give me all kinds of clingy sweet cuddles and interactions. If I go on isolated hiking trips then he'll attend my social functions. My fiance is intp and I am infp and we enjoy our conversation a lot... Mostly. 😂 But I have to say being both Introverted results in having deep silence often and I start randomly saying stupid things to make him react. It's good that his laugh is so adorable. And as soon as he starts saying "I love you" multiple times instead of giving a genuine reactions to stuff I talk made me realize he doesn't know what to answer so he rescues himself in showing affection instead of risking making me being upset... Not that I complain he tells me that he loves me whenever he can and he shows his affection (though its rather clingy at times and might seem dominant but after 4 years I know it's just his way and he usually doesn't care for others so much I can live with it) it would be nice if he would give me a bit more insight in his thoughts. But rather than letting out what he is concerned about he gets so stressed that he rather explods and give me a summarized account of all the things he is worried about at once. What makes me feel rather overwhelmed. A luck I like listening. I say it's sometimes not easy and in some ways we r too similar in our problematic characteristics (for example hating being told what to do or hitting the vulnerable spots even if it is unintentionally when angered). It's a luck we both know what we want and we r not giving up easily as soon as we have a grip on it especially in regards of a relationship and we r both willing to learn and forgive. He is not talking his mind very freely often I guess due to his upbringing but if he does he always blows my mind and surprises me. In such moments I fall in love with him again because his view on various topics are so fascinating. Sadly he is not very much into philosophy or history, though we have disputes about theories and hypothetically possibilities and though we have different opinions and approaches its fascinating how our 4 years of relationships have shifted our views. Where I was once very forgiving I got more let's say resolut, while he started to soften up and excuses people's behavior. Very interesting. My observing of our relationship and my need for analyzing is fueled besides the fact that I dearly love him and be greatful every day that I have him by my side.

My Father in law is an ISTP. Long fun story short version: My wife (ESFJ) is from Spain and I met her at Colo St Uni. (I am from Colorado) We had (and continue to have) a hot and fast romance. So when she calls home (Alicante, Spain) and tells her parents that she's met her husband the first year of college and that she is planning to elope but he (me) would like to have a small Church wedding there's a lot of confusion over their "Ms. Responsibilty" daughter whose worst infraction in her entire life was to skip PE to going swimming. I am calmly interviewed over the phone but they still fly out to see what's up. She (ESFJ) spends the day with her mother (ESFP) and I (INTP) spend the day with her father (ISTP). When we reunite in the evening at my apartment I find the two giggling having made a total mess of my apartment with flower arrangements and a bottle of wine is almost gone. My (ESFJ) future wife winks slyly at me. He and I come in and excuse myself to the bathroom for a small respite from people. (ISTx) I've been having trouble figuring out if my father was ISTJ or INTP, because he seems too Ballanced at this current state of his life. Mom. (ISFJ) And my mom in an ISFJ who thinks she's an introvert, which made everyone think she was ESFJ. But she has 3 xxTP boys raised sheltered without being reliant on having others take care of her. Younger Brother. (ISTP) I've gone through the systems with my younger brother and pretty much agreed I was right with my initial thoughts and wrong about changes to them. Older Brother. (ESTP) And I've done extensive research to find correlations between my unwilling older brother and the 16 types to find out why he is the way he is. Generally, I run my thoughts through studying interactions between them and others I know their MBTI preference for certain. Based on what they connect with the most and dislike about each other, I can determine if either the MBTI type of sed person, or if I was wrong about knowing/understanding the other person's type for certain. I'm usually never wrong about my certainties. None that I could recall. But I also use temperaments and communication styles to understand the first 2 letters. And to finalize my notes, I run them through CS Joseph's videos and personal videos of the type in question to filter out any possible inconsistencies (Frank James is INFP and Dopamine is INFJ, so I don't use their channels. Most scripted and voice lined videos also exaggerate too much or are just straight up misleading, misinforming, and even wrong. Sometimes due to people's information coming from the writter being mistyped. They never fact check themselves). 🤔 I don't know your wife as well as you, but I think you might've mistyped your wife. I'd make more sense if she was actually ISFJ. They're one of the most difficult to tell apart. And it makes complete sense her mother would be ESFP. Keeping my scepticality consistent, if the ESFP seems to have even remotely the resemblance of a laughing or smiling problem, she's likely an ENFP and you'd actually be more likely to be an IxxJ type. But if she asks a lot of questions and explains how she recognizes what she understands, she's more likely to be an ESTP 🤔 Either way, it definitely makes sense for the father to be ISTP, but same types are also the hardest to type right, meaning he could just as easily be INTP if she's actually ESTP. Of any of this makes sense, you're probably INFP or INxJ and the father is likely ISTJ, which would still explain the corrections. But being INFJ wouldn't definitely explain the stuff you focus on in the comments. The INTP and INFJ are the most commonly mistyped between each other. So just in case, the difference is Dexter Morgan (INTP) VS Joe Goldberg (INFJ). INFJ's are known for never admitting when they're wrong and ruining their relationships because they aren't willing to accept being wrong. Which is actually just an xxxJ problem, even more than it is with EPs.

My wife's school has every teacher take the test in order to create understanding with communication styles. She invited me to test and bought a book about the personalities. The results are pretty consistent and even matches the enneagram. I honestly question the entire theory but self knowledge provides opportunity for growth. Last year for Thanksgiving we invited her parents to test and and they scored what we predicted based upon the book she had bought. I can see how Pilar (Wife) could be seen as an ISFJ but I also have witnessed how she runs a crowd. I could relate stories but one of the things she does is keep track of neighbors. We'll take a walk and meet a neighbor who is new to me but not to her. We'll make small talk and continue. As we continue to walk she'll chat in an almost gossipy way about the neighbor. She's known the couple for a week and she knows names, occupation, hobbies, church maybe even a health problem. Pilar also never stops cooking and tends to give food away. This was a flirt and problem early on. Pilar made cookies and dinner for me when we dated. I bickered with her that she's wasting food and that I do not eat that much. I really hurt her feelings and since then I've let her cook as she wants. She also abides by curious traditions that she doesn't actually believe in but "we just do it that way." Her mother could be an ESFP or ENFP I honestly can't tell. Here's the thing with her mother is that she acts like an ENFP around me and an ESFP around her ESFJ daughter. She'll say to me, "I can't hold all those ideas, please only 1 or 2 at a time." (ENFP like) And then she'll say to her daughter suspiciously, "you shouldn't know so much about that person." (ESFP like). "When we reunite in the evening at my apartment I find the two giggling having made a total mess of my apartment with flower arrangements and a bottle of wine is almost gone." This indicates her mother. Her mother was ready for the wedding once she knew I was open to Catholicism and Pilar wasn't involved in a cult. "OMG! They're in love!!!" Pilar's mother tried to get my mother to loosen up to no avail. Pilar and I (really Pilar) planned the wedding. I am very serious about "their "Ms. Responsibilty" daughter" Pilar will have one glass of wine but her mother will have multiple. Pilar communicates with her eyes and gestures. Her gestures can be an exclamation or "I'm right." That wink she gave me was an indication, "it's in the bag, mom's convinced and I know you did well with Papi." Pilar's gestures are enormous and they relate feelings, opinions, instructions. She and I have multiple communications. we go back and forth with English and Spanish. I've learned her gestures but I'm very subdued. Touch is another tool we use and her sister has caught us speaking through touch. As far as my MBTI I can't get away from INTP. It always rings true and others see me as that. I do believe that I am growing (most of us do) and the other personality that I identify with is ENTP. I serious get exhausted with crowds and will retreat in my head. I am a Stoic (philosophy) and I do participate in self improvement.

I could never stand an ESFJ. I love having the chance to make people laugh doe to Fe inferior, but even having an INFJ opening me up, I usually always find myself unable to jump in and communicate with others as well as I wish I could. I feel too left out unless they care enough to engage with me first. As for ESFPs, we've always had difficulty understanding each other because it's Alpha quadrant vs Gama quadrant. Captains quadrant ve Pirate quadrant. They drain me fast enough to actually notice myself feeling drained. And ENFPs are harder to understand, despite having an easier time communicating. But they tend to come off as judgmental, so I just smile and wave. And I have to stay away because they are very touchy and touch is too sexual for me as an INTP. I personally don't use gestures to communicate. I just say what I mean and hope others don't add anything. I never trust "insinuations". And I'm still sceptical of "metaphors". That's too much S type for me. But I'd love to hear more about how you perceive it.

@@BartholomewHenryAllen I listen and she talks. I love her and her voice, thoughts and presence are captivating. It’s not the subject of convo it’s the rabbit trail and song of her thoughts. It’s like watching a river descend a mountain. I, on the other hand have a stiff formulaic approach with small talk. I sketch out a person and try to interject myself. I learned this when I was self employed. I know how to draw people out so they will talk. I actually don’t reveal much about myself. Pilar and I know each other and we let each other express ourselves. We’ll take turns with small talk and “deeper” talk. She may have a topic in mind that requires depth or I may find a connection that makes the convo go deeper. For instance a discussion about a dress can easily switch to historic motivations about fashion. There are also benefits that receive for focusing on her. Her love language is quality time and I am giving that to her. I am even mention ing other activities in an evening such as dancing, walking, eating, making out, meditation, reading. It’s balance in growth.

INFJs are actually amazing people to talk to. In fact if there's any type that's closer to our likeness in real life than ISFJs, it's them.. Also, xNFPs are amazing friends

Queasy, which is great creative spark on behalf of kristin, because entjs often make you feel that way (intentionally or unintentionally) like you're just a pawn in their game and it leaves you often with a queasy feeling if they go too far.

@@crazynconfident That's interesting! I can see those being scarey for sure! What do you think the ghost(s) might represent subconsciously? My recurrent nightmare is being chased through a busy city I don't know by a crime boss's henchmen. I'm forced to be more and more cruel to escape them until I wake up in a cold sweat after a horrible realisation I've become worse than the crime boss or any of his thugs! 😢

How can you become worse than someone trying to kill you???? Some situation in your life is going against your morals maybe, or maybe eat less snacks right before bed lol. Funny thing about INTP and INFP is depending on the two, It would be just like this video or the INTP and INFP will be the one making all the Dad jokes and silly puns. I have both types of friendships. -INFP
