I’m Tibetan and Buddhist, but once as a child at age 6, I snuck to the front of the audience watching Dalai Lama speech past bodyguards on his holiness 80th Birthday and he smiled and laughed and said hi to me. I was also blessed to be kissed on the cheek as a child by the President Lobsang Sangay. God bless all of you.

I like the fact he doesn't say there is a God or there is no God. No human mind, no matter how elightened, can possibly know without a shadow of doubt if there is a God or not. I like Buddhism for its honesty in saying " don't know"

I have lived a life of honesty and put the welfare of strangers ahead of my own self interest, and this has cost me to loose a multi-million dollar retirement that my dis-honest self-interest serving co-workers are now living. I was homeless for years, and am now dieing, but I have zero fear of death, because regardless of what people have thought of me and rediculed me as a worthless homeless bum I know that I have lived my life as a honest and compassionat person. His holiness has much wisdom.

What use was your "multi million dollar retirement"? Did you really need that much? Perhaps you were being greedy? And Sir, we are all dying. From the day we are born, we are growing older and dying. It sounds like you do have regret, otherwise you would not have mentioned your co workers in such a condescending negative light. It is not about putting others ahead of your own interest, it's about there being balance. It's as if you say these words in here trying to convince yourself more than anything. First comes self love, from there can you truly love others as you love yourself. From there can there be genuine giving. Otherwise it's just giving HOPING to receive one day and that is giving in a selfish manner, always expecting a return and that grows into bitterness. If you truly love yourself, that joy will spread to others. Enjoy life and then when you see someone who does not, you will naturally want to give them joy as well :) This is the unselfish way and truly when you think about it, it's so much more beautiful :D If there is a god, then that's what he wants for you brother/sister!

No dogma about what the correct view is. But instead regardless of your view, put emphasis on living the most compassionate life you can, so that no matter what happens after death, at least you can be at peace before it comes ❤️

Can I be honest with you? Its the greedy rulers who made religion seem like only way to salvation and declared thmselves as Gods. And when priests saw this as effective method to control brains, they followed it too for retaining power. We have an eternal soul inside which is forever existing. It just changes body and takes the next one. And the cost it has to bear for taking the next body is the deeds it did till now. If all the works it did are pious in nature, it will gain piousness. Thats doesn't mean serving in churches or temples. That means real ground work including serving in temples or churches. The thing is serving temple or church was made important in older times because those were a hub for knowledgable people, hungry beggers, the one wants compassion and the disciples. So you can serve them all. But slowly the humans got removed and luxury and statues remained. So to serve the nature is to serve the divinity.

One of the truly impressive things about His Holiness is that he has the ability to read his audience and then communicate important ideas in a way that they can understand. When he speaks to Western/non-Buddhist people, he doesn't quote from the Heart Sutra or go into more esoteric concepts they might not be familiar with. He keeps it as simple and easy to understand as possible. That is what makes a great teacher.

We are all one being separated by what we humans call death. Transformation, growth, decay. When he said that it affects the next life to live a meaningful life he did not mean as a reward or anything like that that would require a judge. He is explaining that improving the quality of life for the next generation is meaningful and you will directly benefit from doing so because you will live those lives. As they say. A good deed is it's own reward. Or as Isaac Newton said. Every action has an equal but opposite reaction.
