He took this *extremely* simple idea, taking one thing and putting it somewhere else, and then made people want to play it. Think about it, nobody likes a fetch quest in a game. But fetch quests ARE this game. He wrapped this fetch quest up in social motivation, interesting plot, and beautiful graphics, then gave it a bow and told you "Please, enjoy." We did, and we are, and we will. Kojima is showing us that he isn't done. He's only getting started.

Either you've played the game and it wasn't your cup of tea, or you're judging based off of a let's play you watched. From my experience as someone who finds the game to be right up my alley, every point made in this review is true, even the points where he sorta grandstands with it. Each step you take requires precision, especially when handling large amounts of cargo, and depending on how you attune to the environmental tells, you can have an easy or hard time traversing the landscape. At certain sections of the game, it can shock or surprise the unsuspecting porter hauling deliveries upwards of 100kg, or it can be a timekiller where you build indirect connections with the other players you'll never see, but you will know are right there with you. It can be a repetitive game, and there's a noticeable amount of contentiousness in the art of it, however I disagree with the statement that the gameplay is terrible. At worst, it can be tedious at times, and at best it is unbelievably immersive.

I think something you said here speaks to the nature of humanity. “They sacrificed their time so that I might have an easier journey than they did.” That’s what we do. We create, expand, advance. Often in the hopes that those that come after us will have an easier life than we did.
@romart035 жыл бұрын
No offence but if that’s your view on human nature idk what world you’re living in .. we’ve killed slaughtered drink smoke do drugs right in front of the next generation and they do it as well and the next will do it as well .. human nature isn’t anywhere near being good today they’re just selfish .. hell so many parents themselves bring strippers to their kids birthdays .. humans are more down graded than any other species .. we always have been and I’m sure we always will be .. what you said about good human nature might just apply to you or a few like you .. but definitely not ‘humans’ in general
@sorenkazaren46595 жыл бұрын
@Rom Art Yes. Humans can and DO end up doing lots of horrible things. But spoiler alert, you are here. You didn’t get here because all human beings suck and killed each other. You and I are here because some of them didn’t. Some of them, be it for self preservation or for the sake of those they care about managed to create a world where you could live. Yes bad people exist. So do good people. The world is not black and white. But the only way forward is together. Some things are instinct, the drive to reproduce. Inherent selfish behavior. But a fundamental part of being human is the ability to use reason, logic. To learn and adapt. Some of us overcome our baser instincts in an effort to grow.
@romart035 жыл бұрын
@@sorenkazaren4659 exactly, some of us do , most of us don't , as far as I can see each generation is worse than the last and it'll continue like this , and many of us are in the world right now not because there were majority people who wanted a better world but because they were simply lucky not to get killed .. today anybody who's alive is just lucky to be alive .. im sure you know how close we've been to WW3 now and I won't be surprised if it happens , are there good people in the world ? yes there are , but doesn't mean that if someones not a terrorist he or she is a good person , people (majority) are just stupid egoistic and selfish you can't correct anyone or they'll blame you for their mistakes , maybe the side of the world where you live is better, maybe you've been surrounded with better natured people but trust me when I say I want a better world too , but today no one even wants to be better (hardly anyone wants to) at the end humans used their gift of intelligence to pollute the world in every single aspect
@sorenkazaren46595 жыл бұрын
@Rom Art In many ways I thought the same thing as you. But I also think... there is still hope for this world and the people in it. You’re right that many people are mean or selfish. But we must also examine why people behave that way. If there is one thing I think made our world into what it is today, I believe that thing would be Fear. People are scared. Even scared of each other. I won’t pretend I have all the answers. But I think we can only heal the rift in the world with kindness and compassion. The only way we’re going to get more of that in the world is if we do it ourselves. And teach the next generations how to do it too. Instead we seem to be raising the children of the world to fear life itself.
@romart035 жыл бұрын
Soren Kazaren I agree with you .. I’m not saying there’s no hope .. no matter how things get there’s never no hope .. but one needs to consider the time as well .. and I can safely say that it’s going to take hell of a time before we reach even mildly the species we could’ve been .. also the fear is necessary cause it keeps us in check to not stray to a low life .. but as you said people use fear in the wrong way and many are those who fear nothing and that makes them even more insane because they go do whatever they want hurting others as well as themselves .. in the end there is hope but at least In our lifetime not much will change .. people have gotten used to living this way now .. it’s harsh but true .. decent people can only live in a cave today mostly it’s a crooked world .. for now at least

It's sed that where Journey does something aesthetic and artistic, ot receives praise but if AAA dev who has a history of action game does something completely unique, he gets undeserved hatred for it The game is divisive sure, but these are things that actually move the industry forward

feel like the difference is in GoW and LoU the main focus was melee or gun combat...this one is legitimately delivering packages lol A more akin comparison would be RDR, where you can say its "Just riding horses"
@jamesbell11865 жыл бұрын
@Kronman590 Yeah I agree. Saying God of War is about just delivering ashes isn’t applicable to this game at all, as the ashes and their delivery have no impact on the gameplay and really not even the story (it’s more about Kratos and Atreus learning to love each other). This games entire gameplay loop seems to LITERALLY be about delivering packages.

this was such an incredible review!! i've watched reviews both from people who liked the game, and people who hated it, but even amongst the ones who liked it, none of them managed to capture the awe and appreciation that you did here. you've officially sold me on this game hahaha i find it so interesting that people seemd to hate the multiplayer experience - i played the remaster for journey, and it has a very similar mp dynamic (that im not sure was in the original one) that i absolutely LOVED. the only difference was that you could actually see the players, but the only ways to interact with them was to let out that wordless beep, or to stand near them and have your robes recharged (i think?? it's been a while). nonetheless, simply the knowledge that there was another person on the same map as you made me feel incredibly connected and empathetic. i'm glad to see kojima felt the same way, and i'll get to experience that again!

I really like that you have such a mature and open minded approach here. You can love the game for what it is rather than hate it for not being what it never intended to be. As we've gotten more footage and information on what this game is in recent weeks I've been thinking it's really interesting that the game may not have a strong focus on combat, especially in a medium so saturated with themes of war and killing. I think I might find it refreshing. It's really trying something new. Of course there's still a good bit of action to be seen, it's just not the main focus. That's not to say that I dislike violence in games to any extent, in fact I prefer very violent games with dark themes. But with an industry so full of the same core idea, it's nice to see a game put focus on something else while still maintaining what looks to be a relatively dark and very sci fi theme.

You given me faith. I started playing this game yesterday for a couple hours and I loved it. And then I saw reviews on people trashing on the game. I theb doubted this game,then I found your review and it just all came together. A video game that makes the journey of route A to route B memorable and beautiful. No other game has ever focused on that for me and that even amazes me more of kojimas mindset!
