I'm from the latter part of the old school of bodybuilding and weightlifting (80s and 90s). Can't say I remember there ever being a focus on glute training back then. Glutes just developed from squats, leg press, and pushing a sled on a football field. Can't say I ever thought about “developing” glutes; they literally just showed up from doing the work.

Yeah, no point in doing isolation work. Just compound lifts for you, right? No? You do curls and extensions? What the fuck?

Don't forget good old fashioned weighted 45 degree back extensions and full ROM dumb bell SLDL also do a hell of job for glute development.

Instathots need big glutes without big legs and big backs because it would make them look unattractive. For pure bodybuilding (male), big glutes ruin your X-frame. Judges want shredded glutes not big glutes. If your glutes are big your legs need to be way bigger. Glutes get big enough from squats and deadlifts. Same for adductors.

Hip thrusts are needed because there isn’t enough depth in the squat or the correct hip hinge….squat or hinge better.

I have had 3 bikini competitors come to my clinic with hip flexor related muscle pain that clearly in every instance came about over time from this weighted hip thrust exercise. It doesn't happen to everyone, but when it does it is quite recognizable.

Do hip-thrust for 6 months dedicatedly ND tell if ur glutes growth skyrocketed or not.. It all about the angle through which u target the muscle fibers..

It's quite a stretch to call bodybuilders athletes, they are just bigger than the bikini girls but both compete under the same basic premisses with different amounts of drugs and work behind them. There is no athletic preformance in the competition. In best case scenario there is an artistisk part to bodybuilding. That said all the respect to the hard work, technique focus and dicipline required fort both.

What is like saying that? I don't know what statement you're referring to. Bit off topic but referring to your factual statement about forearms, I don't believe in forearm ( or calf or ab for that matter) training until you have built a solid base of muscle. Those will all be hit with compound movements. Focus on consistency and progression. Worry about icing the cake after it's baked, not before. But yes, some will grow great calfs and forearms with only compounds , many won't. Totally genetic
