In 2022, Griffin really pushed hard for a ten-year cycle where they could kill the podcast if all five voted to do so. In 2024, not only did they all have such a good watch that they didn't even bother voting on whether to end it, Justin reaffirmed his commitment to continue the podcast forever, no matter what. Not today, death. Not today.

Technically, while this is the 10th podcast, next year is actually the 10th anniversary since you don't celebrate your 1st anniversary on the day you get married, so if the question comes up next time they'd still be on a 10 year cycle.
@sharkofjoyАй бұрын
Wedding anniversaries are not counted in the same way media and other anniversaries are because they measure a discrete time period of a year. Media etc anniversaries are counted from day of release. Sailor Moon's 25th anniversary celebrated 25 years since the first episode aired, Disney World celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2021, 50 years after it opened, etc. Sorry my friend! They have given up on the idea of the vote, meaning this podcast must continue forever with no exit ramp
@DeweyFinn21Ай бұрын
@@sharkofjoy All of your examples are following my counting order. Disney World opening in 1971. Celebrated 50th anniversary in 2021. Til Death Do Us Blart started in 2015. The 10 year anniversary is 2025. So by trying to prove me wrong you worked you way into strengthening my position.
@MosstradesАй бұрын
its not really counted as a yearly anniversary would, rather a celebration of how many times theyve watched the thing. if we make the ten year anniversary in 2025, it means that first watch isnt counted. and i dont wanna do that to these poor men.

Fellow listeners (and McMontelbatt boys, if you're paying attention to the comments here), I have a conundrum. My partner and I bonded in part over our shared love of McElroy creations. One of the ones we don't currently share is Blart, which I listen to faithfully and my partner so far has not. They're interested in listening, however, there is one thing holding them back. They want to watch the film Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 before listening to the podcast. I, however, have never watched Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 and never intend to do so, preferring my experience of this august podcast to remain an enigmatic projection of the McMontelbatt 5's perspectives. I respect my partner's preference to watch the movie first, and I don't foresee that being a source of conflict between us if they would just watch it already. However, given that it's a piece of shit flick, they've been reluctant to actually bite that bullet. I want to share this wonderful podcast with my partner. But without actually being able to sit down with them and sit through it myself, how can I encourage them to see this movie? And if I do, how can I live with myself afterward?
@sonny423Ай бұрын
this may be an unpopular opinion in the deathblart-watching world, but i think paul blart 1 is a genuinely funny and well-made comedy/action movie. it has the added benefit of being a rare thanksgiving/black friday movie, as opposed to a christmas movie, which gives it a special niche. my suggestion is you sit down next black friday and enjoy PBMC1 together, your partner can give in to the temptation to follow it up with the sequel (ive never seen it either and can't speak to the relative quality) while you hold out, then consume deathblart together
@MosstradesАй бұрын
sit them down to watch it, pull up the audio track they made (2020 i think?) and listen to it with them, but make them wear headphones (maybe on one ear only) and avert your eyes from the screen so youre just listening to the podcast

What if you sit behind the tv while your partner watches it with headphones on? That way you're there for moral support but you won't be actually watching or hearing the movie.
