The first time I listened to Epitaph I was just blown away. It was the perfect mix of heavy and disgusting sounding Morbid Angel riffing, mixed with influences of the progressive and more melodic era of Death, and played at hyperspeed with utterly insane precision and technique. The production was also amazing for that kind of music during that time. It really became the measuring stick for death metal, not only musically, but production-wise as well.

As far as 7:50 the first time I’ve ever heard a guitarist do these like slap/accented bends is Mark Tremonti on songs like Metalingus with Alter Bridge. The guy does a lot of harmonic whammy sounds and at least back in those days it would throw me off as something new sounding.

Deathcore people are pictured by "true metalheads" as kids who desperatly try to "be metal" but in fact they actually just don't care about being "true".
@wanderergrim Жыл бұрын
I listen to both deathcore and death metal. Although death metal overall can be faster and more complicated riffs etc; I'd still say deathcore is heavier. Not saying one is better than the other but perhaps one of the reasons deathcore can often sounds heavier due to the fact it's a mixture of death metal and hardcore, your often playing fewer different notes in one riff but you have make each note perhaps count more (I know I am saying "perhaps" a lot, it's just so people do not think I am saying all of one subgenre is a certain way). Also sometimes death metal can be more about the leads than the rhythm and the rhythm tends to be where the heavy is. I only said this because some people say otherwise and I just do not see it. Though I bet there is a death metal riff that is heavier than a decently heavy deathcore riff. Also do not think I am always about the heavy ( I listen to things like post-punk and other goth stuff) , there needs to be somewhat of a balance of course.
@ChainsawSlammer1.3.88 ай бұрын
Deathcore will be most of times heavier, because most of death metal what was done and what we listen is from 80-90s. About playing it depends on band, and don't forget subgenre brutal death metal and bands like Dying Fetus, Disgorge (usa and mexico), Devourment, Mortician. I remixed Mortician's hacked up for barbecue and it sounds almost that heavy as Lorna Shore's album "and return to the nothingness" or humanitys last breath sound. (I did it on phone, if I would have professional equipment, it would sound way different and in best way) And don't forget that Mortician's next 2 albums are way heavier, I'm so excited to remix them.
