Deathwish Enforcers - A Sunset Riding Love Letter

Sunset Riders is a game I have a lot of fond memories for, be it the Mega Drive or Super Nintendo ports. Deathwish Enforcers is a wonderful homage to that classic Konami shooter in terms of gameplay and mechanics, but it also parodies cult cinema of the 70s and 80s. So this should be right up my alley, right?

i think i'll give it a try...this game surely benefits from multiplayer support...my frinds and me were playing alot of these back then (co-ops like Metal Slug, Robo Army, Contra etc.), so this seems to be a must have 😅

Yeah A lot of people forget Konami made the Aliens Arcade game along with the Ninja Turtles games and Sunset Riders. I think their Aliens arcade game might be the first Konami arcade game I ever beat because I remember my favorite Pizza place having it when I was young and I know they had it before they got the first Ninja Turtles arcade game even though the Ninja Turtles game came out first.

It looks like something I would have loved back when people came over to my house regularly and I'll get it soon. That said one thing I always wished for if they did a modern or near modern setting Sunset Riders time game was a couple of characters with full auto weapons by default. Give them smaller bullets and maybe less damage with the auto fire upgrade boosting their rate of fire to turbo. As it is I suspect I'll be using nothing but the Shotgun wielders just like I do in Sunset Riders.

it was on sale for $9.99 and i had some drama with LIMITED RUN over it, they claimed there is a ps5 version, it was only after buying the game that i found out it was only ps4 and yet, they are selling it physical on ps5, how can that be ? maybe there will be a ps5 version down the line, yet, LIMITED RUN never made that knowledge public...so far. anw, about the game, it sure did it best to be another sunset rider, but nope, close but no cigars, as a long time fan of that game, i can tell you, this is as close as it gets, but it is not the same, from the slower walking, less fluidity, less responsive, even looking ''cheaper'' if u can really pay attention to the details, it is hard to beleive that a much older game can look much better than a circa 2023 homage. is it fun ? yes, it is , is it good, yes it is, is it the followup i felt it should be ? sadly, no. Dunno what to say, i think it is an easy 7/10 and in my opinion SUNSET is an easy 9/10 if we talk arcade and snes and a 6/10 if we talk genesis. this one is in the middle, good, but not as polished or as good, making it a damn fine game. if u wana talk polish, we should look at games like MOONRIDER and BLAZING CHROME, those games mimics older games like CONTRA HARD CORPS and SHINOBI/HAGANE and look even more stunning, i think THE ARCADE CREW does them, sadly those guys won't pull off this game since they focus on darker , more gritty games.

Your video didn't convince me to pick up the game... Because, like you, I only heard about it when they released the enhanced edition, but as soon as I saw it, I bought it. I mean, Sunset Riders is one my favorite arcade games of all time, how could I go wrong? And I didn't go wrong...

I'm with you there I was interested until I saw the beginning with the P*** King and that more or less killed it for me. I don't care that the Dirty Harry movies did have some of that stuff I fast forward past those parts and get to the story.

Its nice effort, but Sadly its nowhere as good as sunset riders, which is my fav run n gun shooter ever...it has too many cheap deaths, unbalanced levels, bosses, and no way to disable "nude" parts to play with kids.
