I just got back in the water and went out an grabbed a few spinning combos to get me wet again...after a few months I bought an abu garcia veritas PLX rod and revo s reel yo shake the dust of my skills......I haven't put it down yet, I love it. Medium power, fast action 7 foot rod does great at the creek and at the lake.

my go-to's are KastKing Crixus Armor X baitcasters paired with Duckett JW 7' MH. One w/ 40lb power pro braid and the other w/ 15lb red label fluoro. And a Pflueger President XT Paired w/ a 7'3" M Lews Carbon Fire w/ 15lb power pro braid w/ a 10lb fluoro leader. A backup left in the truck in case of top water bite. Same baitcaster combo, but with Trilene XL mono.

Love these kind of videos. I think you nailed the combos. I tell everyone basically the same. 1st combo should be a Medium spinning rod. It can do basically everything and easy for beginners. 2nd combo for sure a medium heavy baitcaster cause again it’s a great all around combo. 3-5 I would get a heavy baitcaster, a medium/cranking specific baitcaster, then a specialty for whatever you like most. For me it’s another spinning combo because I take a lot of beginners out and we can use a similar set up and they don’t have to have any gear of their own.

This is sooooo useful. As a passionate fisherman who has always been intimidated by the technicalities involved in purchasing rods and reels this is such a valuable resource in evaluating my current combos and figuring out what changes I need to make. *Hint* the big one is that I need to finally give in and figure out how to use a baitcaster
@olivertanner2523 жыл бұрын
Here's some tips from my personal experience. I mainly fish spinning gear, but I know how to work a baitcaster. I would get something that's not going to break the bank and upgrade once your confident. (I'm running an Abu Silver Max- get something like a black max that's what I was trying to do. If your fishing for bass start with basic monofilament.(adjust lines as necessary if your fishing for other species. Mono is good because it doesn't break the bank if you need to change out(10-12 lb). When you get a backlash don't get frazzled just pull out the line as much as you can and use your fingernails to poke through the overlapping lines. When I change lures, I always adjust the tension to just when my lure is starting to trickle out. There is a knob under the handle where you can tighten or loosen (I call it the tension knob) the drag adjustment is the gear looking thing just inside the handle. Adjust that like you would for spinning. The dial on the side that doesn't have a handle is your breaks (like breaking to stop a car) you can adjust that to slow your spool when you cast. I would turn it to either the middle or the highest. I typically run the middle. But high would be best for starters. Don't forget the rod,and that's up to you for what lures you prefer to fish. Hope some of the info was helpful . Tight Lines!

Thanks for giving those bank anglers some love, for bank fisherman sometimes it’s tough finding fishing spots you know that will catch fish. Definitely like these vids, they have helped me out what rod and reels to use for certain applications or certain setups. Keep doing these vids. For another vid, do like a spinner bait or swim jig rod and reel setup and how to use and so forth. Would be great to be educated in that field of fishin.

I really like the gear/tackle videos. I typically have 6 rods in my vehicle and take 3-4 with me depending on conditions. Its worked pretty well so far this year. I do like my St Croix Bass X. It’s been a workhorse for river smallies and it’s not too expensive.
@ROZDAB3 жыл бұрын
What size rod do you use for river smallies? I go to my local river and fish for em almost daily. My only gripe is the amount of time I hit trees or weeds or stuff trying to cast. I want to get a short rod so I can have better accuracy as I’m not casting far usually. Even with wading boots on I would like a shorter rod to get in those tight places and better accuracy.

Good video man paint job looks good on that swim bait you did. I like to use my Abu Garcia Black Max rod for a jerkbait rod. It was only a $50 combo I've bought four or five years ago. It's still running strong. What I like about the Black Max rod is jerkbait fishing from the bank, I am smacking a lot of stuff so if I'm going to whack my rod off of things I want it to be cheap. Good video Debo.

Once again a great video. After having been watching you for a while I've swapped out the mono on my spinning combo for 10 lbs Spiderwire braid with 10lbs P-line flouroclear leader and even switched from 15 lbs P-line CXX to 20 lbs flouroclear on my allround combo. Love the videos of you feeshing cuz I've learned alot just from listening and watching how you use the lure(rod movent, retrieve and so on), but the reviews and unboxing stuff is equally great. I had my eyes set on the Abu Zata til I watched your review and realizesd that it wasn't really worth the extra money. Also atarted using a bunch of new plastic(reaction innovation) that I'd probably never had tried otherwise. I was kinda stuck on my Yum Dingers. And i even got some Z-man and Wareagle finesse jigs and realized how much fun they are once ya know how to use them. So no matter what your videos are about, they are always fun and I learn something new everytime. And being a bank angler it is amazing to see that what is probably imho one of the best fishing channels is geared mostly towards us bank anglers.

Those first two combos are what I recommend to every single person who comes to me looking to get into bass fishing. I have invested tens of thousands of dollars in fishing gear of one sort or another, and probably 90% of the bass I've ever caught have been on one of those two, I find a 30lb braid on the baitcaster is slightly more universal, but it's really not a huge deal, for a bank guy just starting out, two rods, a small backpack, and turn off the KZbin and go fishing, once you get pissed off and can't figure out what your doing wrong, come find Debo and then go fishing, you'll thank yourself later for keeping the gear minimal and putting in the time learning the fish
