I am usually very reluctant to learn and record well-known pieces, but this piece has been ideal for my experiments with reverb, as there are plenty of professional recordings to use as a reference. Finally I decided to actually learn this piece properly for the first time to see what it's all about, and I have to say it's composed really well on top of being pleasant to listen to. There's many nuances to explore, and I think you need a good deal of imagination to pull off a high-level performance.
Recorded on a Steinway D in my living room.

The quality is just another level from other pianists on KZbin. I won't say you're the best pianist I've listened to, because it will be lying. What I will say is that you're really good and the way you play is so uniquely comfortable, that I can (properly tell my thoughts on English😅) be sure I will remember it for a long time. I'm not ever even touching the level of skill you have, since I don't have enough time for learning properly. To be completely honest, I think you deserve more: not hundreds or thousands, but millions of people who watch your content - but I feel like it itself will make me a little lonely, not the dramatic kind of lonely, but this little memory of your childhood friend leaving you. You'll go to sleep, lay on the bed and think about it occasionally and sigh with a complicated feeling, probably everyone will understand. I love your music, the way you play - it hold a special place in my heart. I want you to keep uploading and learning more ways to improve. I see what I wrote shameful for me since I'm unusually open even tho I didn't really tell a lot. Did not have a chance to open my heart even this much for a while now.

Your voicing makes the final outcome sound like an orchestra, yet it is a piano. Sublime.👏👏👏

Such a delightful performance! A perfect blend of technique, dexterity and emotion. I'm so glad you did Debussy, music so beautiful it feels like water or the wind. Thank you!

Your interpretation really inspires me to replay it over again with another perspective... We have to stop and listen at the resonance and how it comes out... simply savour the piece...

Wonderfully played, that is just beautiful. I really like the detail in your recording, too, do you mind sharing a bit about your setup?

Thanks. The short version is I have cardioid mics pointing inside the piano at close range for detail, omnidirectional mics further back for some room ambience, and also a mic under the piano to saturate the overall sound. And there’s some subtle reverb added in post.

@@rach3master Thank you for the detail! I definitely noticed the reverb, and thought "that doesn't sound like a normal living room!" but I couldn't tell if it was added in post or part of a far mic'ing setup. You've done a banger of a job on all fronts (playing, video, audio), huge kudos to the entire production.

Lovely work! Any chance you’d do the passepied that follows this one? That’s one of my favorites. (Maybe I’ll learn it, but not for a few years probably.)

The sound you achieve in your recordings is unbelievable. Do you do a lot of editing after you're done recording or do the mics just capture it that well?

Thanks. The mics do a good job but there is a good amount of tinkering in post-production.

I'm sorry to write that for the first time I didn't feel the emotion on your performance. There are emotional detachments throughout the performance from begining to end. Some parts are great, but it felt as if they were not connected to each other. Normally I would say well done, but since I have always admired your previous performances, I didn't want to pass this time without expressing my thoughts.
