Hi from UK, I’ve been sewing for most of my life, I have a passion for Sewing Machines especially pre 60s Singers I’ve tried the Hand Cranks to the Singer 201k Electric and I still personally love my Hand Turn Singer 128k, I sew all sorts from clothes, Place mats, my latest a pill cover “which had quite some layers to sew through”, glad I only needed to make one, and my little hand turn never lets me down when it comes to thick layers, you can do it in a gentle controlled way and with the right needle she “Florence”, ( named after my Great Grandmother whom was a Tailors Machinist) will sew through most things beautiful. Your Chanel has been a great source of knowledge, when it comes to old Singers, a big thank you, it’s really been of great help, in saving /reviving a few old girls.

Practice. Practice. Practice. I have made some ugly messes, after a while the light comes on and it gets better. Keep going!

That's called bias binding or bias tape.I have a new Janome 725S (hate it!), a 1946 Singer 15-91 (really all the machine I'll ever need). I also have a Bailey long arm machine on a quilting frame. I mostly make quilts and little else sewing wise. Gave up mending years ago, lol!

I love the colour of this machine! Is there any way for me to figure out of my Necchi BU Nova works? It looks like some kind of piece was added to the front but I'm not sure where to start! I found it at a thrift store today and it *looks* like it's in wonderful condition.

I learned to sew on a Necchi just like this 50 years ago at age 13! It was a 1953, bought by my parents after they married! When I bought my own Singer in 1979, I had to learn how to use a foot pedal!

I can't believe how much I love the feature of automatic needle up (or down) on my new Singer Heavy Duty. You never know how much you will use a feature until you get to try it. I don't miss turning the handwheel one bit.

I like my Singer Fashion Mate for button holes, everything else on my Necchi Supernova. If I find a good and _complete_ Kenmore 158.1941, I'll probably add it for the free arm (if I have room). My daughter has a beautiful Singer 185. The styling is almost in the same class as the Necchi.

Since I bought my flatbed I really prefer to use that instead of my free arm. It's much more convenient to use, most of the time, because of the needle plate being on the same level as the table. It's also more convenient to set up, because all the sewing stuff (thread, needles, feet, scissors, etc) is in the drawers. When I use the free arm I have to lift it from the bottom of the closet and carry it to the kitchen table, then its extension table and the pedal, then I have to get the drawers from the flatbed's table. I only used the free arm recently when I wanted the three-step zigzag, and when I was working on a sleeve. I've been thinking of selling the free arm machine, but then if I regret it, finding another one that nice right here in town won't be so easy.

I am havn issues with my bobbin Winder on my necchi esperia staying engaged. The rubber wheel is in perfect shape and the tab for measuring thread fits against it when the bobbin is empty. Unit the whole unit will not stay engaged against the handwheel. It is the exact same as this nova. Do I have to remove the handwheel to have a look at the Winder? I cannot see where to adjust but a screw which is not easily accessible as the handwheel is in the way. Any suggestions?? Thank u souch. I cleaned n oiled this machine exactly as u prescribed n it runs like a dream. Dr. Lol Thank u

Thank you. I did NOT make it I assure you! It was one I purchased some years ago and knew that I would loose it if I did not attempt to cover it with the bias tape. (thanks to commenters, I now know what that trim is called !)

Love the video!! Would you happen to know, where I could find feed, for this machine?
@VintageSewingMachineGarage3 жыл бұрын
I believe you had a typo there but were meaning to ask about finding 'feet' for the machine? This Necchi model uses what are referred to as "High Shank Feet". These are very common on industrial lockstitch machines. While you can certainly search for vintage Necchi feet, newer versions (as long as they are high shank) should work fine. High Shank attachments other than feet will vary in compatibility, but High Shank feet should work fine.
