QOTD: ⚡ I'm ready for the "a rubber band can do this just as good" comment. Sooooo, why is this better than a rubber band??
@Richard_Barnes5 жыл бұрын
Nah, a rubber band doesn’t look as good 😂 I am a big fan of these. But for my recent leather purchases, this type is what I was and would be carrying if I didn’t have those 👍🏻👌🏻

Nobody is using a rubber band... I had a wallet once made completely out of duct tape. It was actually pretty well made 🤣.

Easier to remove the cards but that’s about it. I got a few comments during the several years I carried one of these, but I didn’t like how it really scratched up my cards. The plastic films were peeling off of many of them
@Richard_Barnes5 жыл бұрын
Nate Bortolini, valid point Nate. I concur. Mine did this as well. Actually, I just peeled one off this week and it looks better now than before. 😂

Also, If you get a hard metal it will scratch your phone bad when carried in the same pocket. The titanium money clip messed up my screen quite a bit so I had to stop using it

I purchased DM-1 and the XSTO after watching your reviews. These are my first metal wallets. I love them both. The XSTO you can only access from one side so I keep going to the DM-1 since I can arrange cards and access them from either side. I carry some cash folded in the center and it is not a problem. I cannot believe how much I like these wallets. I never imagined that my favorite wallet would turn out to be a horseshoe looking piece of Titanium . Thank You for the reviews.

I think the Stow wallet does the same thing, but way more functionally, having the ability to carry cash and business cards without paying extra. It does it all, and better for only $59 too. I actually fold my cash in thirds... I use it so infrequently that it doesn't waste much time, and it keeps my wallet thin. I have found that once it's folded, adding new bills is easy, as they succumb to the already folded bills. I think for someone who uses cash often, they would needs a wallet that has you only folding once. Great review mark!
@walletopia5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Erik, yes I would have to say the STOW still wins in a match up and I would have to agree on the cash. I carry a couple $20's and I them so infrequently I forget I have cash with me.

I've had a titanium one for 6 years (from their Kickstarter). Hand down my favorite wallet. Nothing else I've tried even comes close. The money clip can hold a lot of bills, 30+.

Great review! It's probably the most extreme minimalist wallet I've ever seen so far. When it comes to minimalist wallets, I've never been comfortable with cash being exposed in one form or another - that's just asking for trouble if you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
@obsidiansands3 жыл бұрын
@@brayan8346 depends on your location, there are cash-only places that can't do electronic cards. And if you don't know where, then you really haven't traveled off the beaten path. It literally pays to be prepared for anything.

@@brayan8346 unfortunately for you, cash will still be around for the foreseeable future - especially in some parts of the world where an ATM isn't around, or easily accessible. I use both to be sure, even in case of emergencies.

@@brayan8346 I agree that some items absolutely require using a card for the very protections you mentioned. But that doesn't mean all purchased require using a card. There are exceptions. At my age I no longer need to worry about my credit history and I certainly don't need warranty on the 12-pack I bought Friday night. If I drop a can on the floor and it bursts open then that's on me. You only need to use a card for everything if you want to. It's not imperative. Edit: It's also not worth arguing about. To each their own.

@@brayan8346 My point is about the card protecting me from lost beer. It's protections replaced my rental car windshield while on vacation and that's where it shines. I just don't need the benefits it offers on the little stuff. Good conversation. KZbin is lacking in that department.

I've been using the 12-card titanium version for a few years now and none of my credit cards have pealed. I don't carry cash, but I use the money clip to store receipts. It's not the best option because the money clip is tight. This is by far my favorite minimalist wallet. I have a Dango Dapper, the Travax Contour, the Pitka MagEZ, and others so I have a few wallets to compare it to. You’re right about it not being optimal for softer cards. I put the softer cards between 2 hard cards, and it seems to work well, but it is a hack. Fortunately for me, I don't have many soft cards.
@walletopia4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul! Your personal insights are excellent. I like the hack you mention for softer cards...you gotta do what you gotta do.

I got a money clip with my Bogui Clik wallet (more or less exactly the same, they just switched the design around), however, that got annoying and so I stopped using it in the UK. This is down to how large our notes are, even when folded. I agree about the cost of the DM1 though. It is very high for what it is.
@walletopia5 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The money clip idea was good, but notes still protruded and overwhelmed the style of the wallet. It really is a card-only wallet.

@@turner02 I would have to say yes. The definitions have evolved over the centuries from a bag that holds things to a "flat, folding holder for money and cards". In my opinion, folding into thirds does not take more time than folding over twice. Still two folds. Sure, it might take a few minutes of practice to do it just as quickly, but I disagree with the argument that it takes forever to do.

I hate these over minimalistic wallets like this but this one is so over priced and a complete and utter ripoff. There are so many other wallets that do that same thing as this wallet for much cheaper, aka the summit wallet and others. And for 70 t0 80 dollar for a slab of aluminum is just stealing peoples money. At least the money clip should come with “wallet” not make me pay even more for a wallet that already isnt worth it. If this came with the money clip and a tray for coins and the like i would still think its over priced but would still be better
