Because of how many more people moved into the area in the past 22 years, they’ll need to add twice as many lanes now

I’ve been a passenger on this stretch of road many times. Anyone think that the design on the concrete walls on the side of the road (as seen in the center photo at around the 0:58 mark) could possibly be a bit distracting for drivers??? I look at it every time I go there, and I certainly would be distracted by it if I drove.

Don’t believe it. I will be shocked if they actually open the west Seattle bridge.

I drive through this area daily to and from work. I'll reserve judgment as to it's effectiveness after completion. I'm not too convinced yet.

Why does it take sooooo long for the government to do anything? It took foreeeeever to do Mercer Street and they made it worse. Also, isn't that illegal for Amazon to have a cop stopping traffic to let their workers out when everyone else has to wait an hour to go one block?
@davezad2 жыл бұрын
All the construction was done by private companies. Why did it take so long? Construction isn't something that can be done instantaneously on a highway that runs 24/7 and can't ever be fully shut down.

I'm riding north on I-5 to just past Tacoma Dome. In front of Lewis/McCord rain storm just dumps on very slick roadway. By time I get to this Tacoma/I-5 construction an semi-truck passes me, but with no trailer, just truck cab. I'm in slower right lane on my Dyna Harley, going too Harley dealer too buy new tires. (So I'm thinking how bad my tires are, in this ice rink slick rainy I-5) when semi cab just left of me pulls ahead of bike, truck tires lose traction, entire truck spins on front wheels 90%, counter clockwise, still sliding north down I-5, so I'm now I'm looking straight at the chrome rear dually wheels, sliding sideways maybe 2ft infront of my front fender. Truck continues its sliding counter clockwise rotation, until truck is now 180% out, driver an truck looking an facibg South, while his truck spinning an still sliding North. The look he gave me was unforgettable. (Probably, look on my face was of disbelief too!) Truck now continues to slide sideways across third fast lane then crashed, facing backwards, against these concrete highway jersey barriers in this video title picture. In my Harley mirrors cars, trucks looked like a bumper car ride. I can't remember this construction not being here. I-5 has worn itself out to slick ice rink by time construction is finished?

That double right before Port of Tacoma Road confuses people. They'll come to a stop, sharp left to stay on the ramp, take a right on PTR, finally another right onto 99.
