The basis of Aurora's song is Kulning. An ancient Nordic female song to call livestock or grazing animals in large areas of countryside. It is a hypnotizing song with high tones and natural harmonics. The Swedish national anthem is an example of the style. I like jonna jinton's style in swedish national anthem or in her creation The Frozen Call is hypnotic: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iH_No4iwZtiarrMsi=ub39-bwKVSUQo78T

It is a simple song, but it gets as deep as a crying of a sad child can go.

The Nidarosdomen concert is one of the greatest concerts of Aurora (and one the most beautiful I ever saw by anyone). Lucky is usually another top recommandations from it, but as a jazz musician, you'll probably love her cover of Nat King Cole's Nature Boy. To be honest, you can pick any performance of this concert (or why not the all thing, with her interviews). Other great concerts from her: the Haik concert, of course (in the forest behind her parents house, magical, don't miss Infections of a different kind and The Seed), which is part of a broadcast program worth watching entierely; the KEXP concert, a very intimate one, though Björk was in the audience, with more rock and full of energy performances (All Is Soft Inside and Churchyard are a must); the Honda stage, with dark, rock or even metal performances (Under the Water, I Went Too Far); and a less known, Somewhere Else Festival (with no public, during lockdown, her performance of A Different Kind of Human is heartbreaking). And I would also very much like you to react to A Soul With No King, both the Vevo Live performance and the Remix ft. NATURE (with Brian Eno).

I've been watching you as a Ren reactor, but now I'm hyped to see that you're reacting to my OTHER favorite musician, Aurora. What I like about Ren is what I also love about her: she is exactly who she is, no masks, no facades, just her bared soul.

@@nikrul 👍 There's a Ren song in which he shouts out Aurora, but I forgot which one it is. They would make for an interesting collaboration, lol. (He could have been shouting out the aurora borealis (the "northern lights"), too, so I could be wrong about that...)

Great reaction! Aurora says this is a very important song to her. She was going through a tough stretch, where she was only seeing the bad in the world, and she wrote this song to get it out of her system. This performance is insanely gorgeous. Her stripped back acapella performance she did for Vevo was amazing too. She just hates wearing shoes. She tells a story of returning to school after a (summer?) break, and she got in trouble for showing up without shoes. The teacher thought she was being a rebel, but the fact is, she just forgot to put them on, because she spends so much time barefooted. She now travels with a large mat for the stage for her concerts, to give her some cushion, so she rarely performs with shoes anymore.

..she does what she feels for in that moment.. she is always present in here and now, that is actually very difficult and rear. She has also a expanded empathy, so she takes inn the emotions and energies around her ( she has said that. and thats why she nead to be alone in nature somethimes). Her lyrics is exelent .. poecy in its own .. her performance is art - her videos ( like the Seed, River, Apple tre, Winterbird, Queendom..mm) is amazing - and then she stands on a stage and channels music from another dimenthion .. to us. What a gift she is - a strong, wise female force, which is so needed her on Earth . Thank you for reactiong to Aurora - Best from Bergen, Norway

Great reaction and analysis😍 This is such a beautiful song and performance, it’s a song that means a lot to her❤️ This whole concert is amazingly beautiful😍 Fun fact: This whole song was played in the series “The 100”👍 She basically thinks life is better without shoes, and she often stands on her tipi toes while singing + nowadays she dances a lot🥰

Man you rock :D One of the many magical things with Aurora is how much she's able to reinvent herself and her songs. You can find so many different instrumentations and "wraping" of her songs when you look arround for live versions. She often talks about how she feels connected and how we should all feel more connected and she mentioned a couple of times how she feels more connected and free when barefoot. That asside I don't think she ever gave any other specific reason. You should try to react to "Jacob Collier & AURORA - A Rock Somewhere X The Seed" Next. First because it came out verry recently and a lot of people are going arroud searching for reaction for that one. Secondly because it's a collab between them and greenpeace to raise awareness against deep see mining a very worthy cause. Also the song and the setup are amazing and I don't think you ever reacted to Jacob Collier yet (he's like a junior version of Woodkid imo) Fair warning the very end of the song is probably one of the most soul wrenching moment in music history. Ren also just got a new song out (just yesterday). "Money Ties" doing reaction to just released songs from singers with such active comunities is definitly a good way to grow your channel.

This was a unique concert. How it all started I don't know, but Olavsfest (a festival in Trondheim) and NRK (the main Norwegian tv and radio broadcaster) invited Aurora to do a concert at Olavsfest, inside the Nidarosdomen. The church administration said no, because they wanted the concert to be more religious, especially a concert that would be Christmas entertainment on the biggest TV channel in Norway. Aurora’s team stayed out of the discussion, stating that the church had to decide what type of concerts they wanted. Olavsfest took the case to the parish council, they unanimously overturned the administration’s decision and allowed the concert. NRK / Olavsfest really brought in “the big guns” to make this concert. NRK themselves are FANTASTIC with video/sound and has a huge crew. Musically they brought in Trondheimsolistene (one of the world’s best chamber orchestras), Ruth Potter (harp) and Petra Bjørkhaug on the massive Steinmeyer pipe organ (finished build in 1930, rebuild in 2014, the organ has 9600 pipes, and weight 40.000 kg), and Oslo Fagottkor, a choir for gay men only. The arrangement was done by Knut Anders Vestad. My GUESS is that the orchestra rehearsed the songs, and then met with Aurora to fit them / fine tune them to Aurora’s “wishes”. The 1100 tickets sold out in a few minutes.

If you want subtitles for this concert, I know that this channel provides them in its videos: 20171102 - AURORA - Nidarosdomen - 09/12 Through the eyes of a child: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJzbhKGIi9R3hbM I never get tired of this whole concert, this true masterpiece in this venue full of history (you may have pronounced its name way better than I usually do myself). I guess she was wearing socks, as it was done in a cathedral in the cold of November. I don't think there's a specific story to explain why she's often barefoot, but in her KEXP 2018 concert in Reykjavik, in the middle of it, between two songs, she took off her shoes while saying "life is better without shoes". You should check out privately this other live version, a stripped one, as exemple of the way she can vary her interpretations of her songs: Aurora - Through The Eyes Of A Child (Live) - Stripped (Vevo UK LIFT): kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXfddquLg5aBbqs Anyway, thanks for your reaction to Aurora, the musical jewel who illuminated perfectly this venerable place.🙂👍

I don't think there is a specific story of why Aurora often performs barefoot, as with Angelina Jordan, aside she likes to perform and dance barefoot. In fact, there are lots of performance videos, where she takes her shoes off and throws them away, and even at one point, where she cuts off the feet of some tights she was wearing, so she can perform barefoot. I think it is just about performing with her bare feet, in contact with the ground.

Aurora is absolutely unique and, no one like her that I know of. Here beautiful vocals along with her incredible song writing sets her apart. She will never "fit in" to the MSM junk being offered but has a very strong following and devoted fan base (Warriors and Weirdos) for a reason. Have to say it once again, all the great artists and music seems to reside on YT and other steaming platforms. Definitely not worth turning on a radio anymore...
