Deck Tech: Edgar Markov Vampire Tribal EDH / Commander 2024

Love to see different perspectives on how people build Edgar decks (or any other deck tbh) and honestly love to see updated deck techs on cool commanders that got new support cards especially with the release of Clavileno, Charismatic Conqueror, and some other cool Vampires in Lost Caverns of Ixalan! you got me thinking on revisiting my edgar deck.

I missed just some cards like: Phyrexian Altar + Oathsworn Vampire combo Necropotence instead of Arena I love Descendant'd Fury line, I'll test it

Necropotence is great I just don’t have one. Fun lore about the deck, when I bought this precon, a week later I bought a mystery precon from Walmart and it was a 2015 daxos precon, so a lot of those cards got moved into vampires lol.

Great deck, highly recommend cloudstone curio, being able to bounce back cheap vamps and make a token army is awesome lol

That could be neat. I guess it depends on the amount of low drops and if it would be better than token makes like glass cast heart

@poppmagic also I'd recommended gravepact, dictate of erebos and Butcher of malakir; forced sacrifice with Tokens is just cool plus add in a sac outlet and then you just make people mad 😆

@LyonHart18555 good include but I axed butcher because he was just too much mana and too easy to get rid of. Dictate and pact are better since its harder to pop enchantments, but a 7 mana guy is just too much

Try clavileno as commander with this cards, fun too. After attacking (target creatures you choosed gets the clavileno thing) you could sac this creature, if a card on youre field allows. You get the sac trigger and the clavileno : draw a card and you have 4/3 flying vampir demon.

I run diabolic just because it’s a way cheaper alternative than demonic and the deck doesn’t care too much about killing off a 1/1, especially a free one lol

@cosmicodyssey3382 it’s a good card, but just steep for a 4 cost. My goal is to try to lower the curve so many nights whisper or an effect like that would be good as an easy draw 2 effect

As a veteran edgar player, I recommend cutting out Bloodline Necromancer with a victimize, because its that but for cheap. Cut out as much big mana cost vampires as possible too

@@poppmagic I’d also recommend sticking with one strategy, I feel as though there are too many ideas at once going on. Edgar can be played in a lot of different ways, which is good, but I feel like the deck can be brought a step up with a goal in mind. For me personally I have two big win cons for Edgar, there is the combo of Bolas’s Citadel, Top, Aetherflux Combo, and there is the Mindcrank, Bloodchief Ascension Combo. However if either or doesn’t work, good ol smacking them in the head with your dudes is good too

I like how many infinites you can do in vampires they all seem random and ppl don't know where to interrupt and cheeky things like giving Olivia a basilisk collar to maintain a strong cheap control of the board

@@_Tizoc_ its really hard to keep down too, even if you have board wipes, you can get stuff like teferi’s protection or lich knight’s conquest. I was thinking of putting in dawn’s truce in edgar too because it gives cheap indestructible and hexproof

the mana curve is way to high in this deck for Markov, use cheaper vampires with more synergy and will be way better ... the issue here is that if you got targeted or there is a BW the comback will be way too slow.

I’m off coat of arms generally because sure it helps me but it also really helps opponents. Also ideally, I’m swinging out and don’t have a ton of blockers. Cathars crusade is definitely Good but just so hard to keep track of lol

Would be better to un-sleeve the cards or put them in sleeves that didn't catch the light as much so people can see the cards a bit better

Edgar is my main and I don't think I've ever won a casual game with him! 😅 I love playing him but he's so strong that I usually only play a vampire every other turn and I run suboptimal cards like "Go for the Throat" for the flavour 😂

Can someone confirm or deny that you can get commander damaged through Teferi’s Protection? It prevents all damage. Doesn’t seem like the type of damage would matter at all.

If you have something like Questing Beast on the table, he will still take damage. His life total will not change, but he will receive the commander damage as damage can not be prevented.

U can get commder damage if they have commder that said damage can not be prevented

Hmm I’d say maybe its current value is like $700? But to be fair, a lot of the cards have way cheaper alternatives and I’ve traded for a lot of the fancier cards you see. Without all of the bling, it’s probs around $400.

Roaming throne doesnt work with Edgar . You dont technically control Edgar until hes on the battlefield

So he won’t double up vampires in the zone, but will when he is in the field and also doubles his attack trigger. Plus all of the other vamps have good synergy with it regardless
