This would be awesome! Especially if he works with Scar to design a few Hot Guy calendars exclusively for Decked Out, that would look kinda old and tattered to match the abandoned, run-down feel of the rest of the Black Mines! Scar has said that Hot Guy is past his prime, so maybe these older calendars could be from back in his glory days!

Potential idea for level 4: We currently can work out where the coins are coming from (left behind by the miners, etc), but we don’t currently know where the frost embers come from. What if you had a massive frozen entity in the middle of floor 4 that’s slowly thawing out and the frost embers are chunks of the ice it was encased in.

I’ll say it again. Tango should be allowed to port decked out 2 into the next season. I know the Hermits don’t typically do that but the sheer amount of work he is putting into this is crazy. Plus I would love to see them have an entire season to play it, I don’t THINK the other Hermits would have an issue with it.
@5pindin
@5pindin 11 ай бұрын
Agreed. It would be great to see TCG on upcoming seasons too, just because it is still evolving, but that's a bit easier to implement and it has had a decent run already. But with the sheer scale of decked out 2 and how long it will take players to reach levels 3 & 4, people are going to need to play for quite some time. I keep thinking back to when Tango did among us and it was right at the end of the season, they got a couple of games in but that was it.

I'm envisioning almost a Stranger Things vibe for level 4. Like falling through the doorway would be the equivalent of walking through the portal in the Russian lab into the upside down. If level 3 is *beginning* to be taken over by warden skulk and such, level 4 could be completely terraformed essentially into whatever spooky habitat the wardens in your narrative lived in.

I think something that could add to it for the hermits is if you tie them into the lore, instead of just using the lore as background for the setting. E.g. the mining company is hiring adventurers to retrieve valuables they left behind in their hasty exit, and the hermits are answering the call. Just something that could lore-wise explain why the players are there would be cool. When making a video on how to play, you could tie it in, like making it in an old-timey style played out like an add explaining the job.

This project is going to be amazing once it is finished! I have one idea that you could introduce into level four of the dungeon. So since the deeper you are going into the dungeon, the more fiery it is getting, where is all that heat coming from? What you could do for part of the story behind this dungeon is that the miners dug too deep and actually broke through to an extremely deep part of the overworld where heat from the depths is coming from. Wardens come from that realm, making them immune to fire and such. What I am getting to is that you could have a nether-esque block palette that is nearly completely overgrown with sculk for the bottom level. Just a cool idea I had.

What if for level four, you introduced ice and snow back into the pallet as a way of tying back into the general theme of the citadel. It'd be a cool frost-and-fire contrast, and lore-wise it could be explained as either skulk having weird preserving properties, or maybe just the weird icy magic of the citadel itself.

as soon as you mentioned Warped wood for level 4, I started thinking about how cool it would be if level 4's theme was a sort of mix between Sculk and Nether. as if the two worlds were starting to become unstable and bleed into each other

I cannot stress it enough. The fact that you built this awe inspiring game inside Minecraft survival is beyond historic! It is truly an impressive feat! It makes me think though, just how much more could you do in the same time frame if you allowed yourself to build it in creative? I am beyond excited to see you finish this project tango! This is definitely a monumental accomplishment in the survival Minecraft smp community and you are so close to finishing it!

About the black market item sorting issue you mentioned on stream a couple of weeks ago, I think I might have a solution: If for all black market items you remodel another item than iron nuggets, like bottles or non-stackable items, you can sort them by their properties, such as sorting the bottles with a brewing stand or a non-stackable item sorter.

Hey, Tango! I really love the build already. You've done a great job on it! I have an idea for level 4 if you don't already have an idea for that. Maybe you could call it "The Creature's Den" and have it have a center piece that is the creature, which is a sort of octopus looking thing made of sculk, which spreads sculk everywhere as his sort of nervous system and has wardens as his minions.

Perhaps the watervator could be in a waterfall? Light up in a way to show people that they can go up. Also the exit on level 3 from 4 could be a small pool/lake instead of a one block hole, the connection between the waterfall and the lake would be filled with watervators so that they can't cheese their way down to level 4.

An idea for level 4- a beating heart made of skulk at the center. Synch it up to the clank heartbeat and let the players realize with horror that it’s the source of the noise they’ve been hearing the whole time. Not my comment but a great idea from someone who commented at the stream - AwesomeMcCoolName.

My idea for the bottom level: underwater caverns. Imagine landing in a dark pool of water after jumping through the hole. There's a moment of calm. Then, the drowned lining the walls assault you with tridents. Pressured from all sides, you take the only option left: swimming down. The deeper cavern twists and turns until it opens up into the final large chamber. There's a forest of menacing floating balls chained to the chamber floor (ala the scene in finding nemo with the submarine mines where they meet the sharks). There are air pockets in the ceiling of the chamber, but all are guarded by drowned with their tridents, making it hard to gasp more than a few bubbles of air at a time. The other option is to watch the geothermal vents on the floor of the chamber, waiting for the telltale flash that signals a brief lifeline, a vertical jet of bubbles that can provide a few precious seconds of air. Spend too much time accruing clank in this chamber and the floating spikeballs open to reveal the guardians and their inescapable beams. Water and drowning is an awesome mechanic for decked out because it forces players to move or die. But here, we make the air pockets feel just as dangerous as staying underwater by placing drowned with tridents along the walls of the upper chamber. Swimming down just a few blocks obstructs their view, but you need air at some point. You could make it possible to get air underwater with bubble columns from the "geothermal vents", but turning the bubbles on and off with pistons forces the player to move, often not in the direction they want to go.

Hey Tango, have you thought of adding an indicator to the dungeon Map to show that there is a run in progress so other Hermits would know some one was in the dungeon. Then maybe you would set up viewing platforms throughout the dungeon? Food for thought. :)

Viewing platforms are an interesting idea but I'm not sure how you'd propose their implementation. The dungeon is huge and sprawling so any given viewing location would only be able to see a small part at a time, and the viewers would risk being targeted by vex and wardens (which would not only ruin their experience but also interfere with the run). Plus watching other peoples' runs might give away secrets and strategies that they're meant to figure out on their own. Technically anyone on hermitcraft could spectate a run with freecam, but it would spoil so many things they'd almost definitely rather discover for themselves.

The black mines have just upped the game for decked out 2! Very very smart dungeon layout. About the entrance to level 4, a little idea of mine is to only one of the floor's key barrels to open the shuttle randomly each run, indicated by a visual puzzle hint, so that the hermit can wrinkle his brain and choose the correct one from the secret or waste time collecting 3 keys and testing on the different floors.
