9:00 both T-800 and Model 101 are correct. T-800 is the exoskeleton generation and Model 101 is the human skin (Arnie's likeness). This is why the classic Terminator is a T-800 Model 101. You should know this Decker.

he would likely have secondary targets of all known top people in the resistance, and just hunt down and kill anyone with their names in any city they are known to live in, like wiping out every sarah connor. who knows how many of them there are, maybe 100s or 1000s, maybe he'd just keep going until the military brings him down with heavy weapons or something. one thing that always gets me is, lets say he gets taken down during his mission by the military, after about killing 2000 cops they realise it's not human, eventually take it down somehow, like it's not going to get away with it forever right? they realise it's a super fucking intelligent robot with all kids of tech they haven't seen. well wouldn't this start a convo about "yeah, lets not go ahead with advanced military AI, just one of these things took out cities worth of police officers", like then skynet would have way more safety measures put on it and shit.

Decker, at the risk of sounding like a complete nerd, because I am one. Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 is referring to the Arnold looking skin design. The T-800 is the model Terminator he is. So for example there would be a model 102 that looks like a completely different guy, but underneath, it's a T-800 as well.

You make a great point in talking about how brilliant "The Terminator" script is in its seamless ability to shove tons of exposition down the audience's throat without slowing the movie down. Any tale this complex, told without voice-over narration, should be the template for other movies with similar complicated exposition/back story. Why is it that other films fail in this regard? Is Cameron that talented or other filmmakers that mediocre?

In fairness not every story lends itself to such. Given the events of the film it makes sense that Kyle needs to explain things at breakneck pace while fighting as they're being relentlessly pursued and Sarah doesn't know a thing. In most stories either everyone in the story already knows the stuff the audience needs to have explained so exposition between characters makes no sense (hence voice-over) or it only makes sense that the characters would explain things in a safe, quiet comfortable place like we would in real life (hence slowing down the pacing).

I was about to point that out- not because I feel the need to point out every mistake, but Brian Thompson was literally the poor man's Arnold back in the day, even going as far as pretty much playing the Terminator in the X-Files. I agree. When he was on X-Files, he was one of the best parts of those early mythology episodes. They never really took his character any further aside from an occasional appearance doing pretty much the same thing, but initially- a Terminator-esque character who kills Alien-Human hybrid clones by stabbing them in the back of the skull who actually might be helping mankind!? That is the very definition of badass!

@felynecomrade If it were created by a superior machine intelligence (then again, 84's tech was trash), then it would at least have databanks or something that would tell it A) that it did go back through time as part of its primary mission, and B) it would know when the plasma rifle was invented because they most likely crafted it way before humanity ever gained first possession of it.

Love your show, and hate to be THAT guy, but when the Terminator buys the Uzi, it's still a single shot weapon. It isn't fully-automatic until he gets it to the motel room and converts it with tools he picked up at the hardware (both things done off screen, but confirmed by James Cameron in interviews and written material he's made public about the film and characters). The Terminator does the same thing with the AR-10 he uses in the assault on the police precinct, (along with his SPAS 12 shotgun). It was also single shot when he aquired it, but converted after the whole gunstore-murder thingie. Also, when Arnold is checking out the Uzi, it has a short barrel fitted on it, but it's a dummy barrel, only put on for display in the store. The Uzi was sold with a standard, legal-length, (even California legal at the time, if you can believe that), that it was sold with that has to be switched out with the short dummy barrel to make the Uzi a functioning firearm. The Terminator cut the real barrel to the short lenght to make it more concealable with the same tools he used to convert both weapons to full-auto. Again, sorry to do this, but I'm a self-professed gun-a-phile, and weapon related inacuraccies are my mental Kryptonite lol. Really enjoy your episodes, though. Relax watching 5 or 6 of them after work every day. Keep up the great content! (And if you have any firearm related questions, feel free to message me, enough though you do seem to be one of few the KZbin reviewers with a basic understanding and knowledge of firearm in general!) 👍

I think I heard that it was an AR-18 and not a AR-10, which as I believe is 5.56 like the AR-15 but uses a true gas piston instead of the piston that's also the bolt assembly most people mistakenly call "direct gas impingement". If if I recalled incorrectly this website is an awesome resource for people even more autistic than me(and I actually have a diagnose) about cataloging the exact firearms used in works of fiction(or what they seem to be inspired by if they are say a video game and you are going off of aesthetic designs.It's typically visual. it doesn't work as well in text unless they just tell you the model) www.imfdb.org/index.php?title=Main_Page

0:51 Even as a kid, Michael Biehn's Kyle Reese embodied everything I wanted to be as a man. Also, define "meek." That word doesn't mean what most people think it means and what most people think it means does *NOT* describe Kyle Reese. 2:48 Brian Thompson was the guy who got his heart ripped out. 4:53 That's an Ithaca 37 M&P. Its overall length would be well over 26" even with the stock cut off. The joke still works, though, since all gun laws are lame. 5:33 Clever Beetlejuice reference. Well played, sir. 8:57 T-800 is the model of the endoskeleton. "Model 101" is Arnie (based on Master Sergeant William Candy). 9:14 Fact. Also, 12-gauge slugs can bust the engine block of a Mack truck, but are still slow and blunt, so they don't do the job against an endoskeleton's hyper-alloy combat chassis. 9:55 If only they could get their hands on something in the .50 BMG persuasion. 10:57 Interestingly, both "Reese" and "Connor" are Irish names. "Reese" is the Irish version of the Welsh name "Rhys" (which is pronounced the same way). 12:14 In T2, Silberman seems to have forgotten that he'd ever met Reese. 12:48 In the extended cut, it's revealed that Traxler trusts Reese. 14:12 He's gunzerking! Btw, if you splice the Bloodshot Ramparts Combat theme from Borderlands 2 (OST by Jesper Kyd) into that scene, it fits perfectly. 15:06 The SPAS-12 weighs almost twice as much as the AR-18. Notice how the stocks are removed from both of them. 18:32 That scene right there was an homage to James Cameron's literal fever dream that inspired the whole story. 18:43 Of course, you already know that story. Why am I not surprised? 19:19 Unrelenting? Don't you mean...determined? 20:27 Remember when Kyle mentions that he always wondered what she was thinking about in that photograph? She was thinking about him. 21:18 Clever and perfectly timed pun. Sans would be proud.

Note that 1983-05-12 is a Thursday and 1984-05-12 is a Saturday. Earlier in the movie we see text saying it takes place in 1984, so that's a goof. The obvious retcon is that the police officer was flustered and blurted out 12th when he meant 10th.

We also see that it's 1984 when Sarah clocks in at the beginning of her shift at the burger shop: the top right of her time sheet says "pay period ending 5/19/84". Although that's ambiguous: she could have a 53+ week pay period. The "LA - 1984 - 1:52 am" text in the ~opening shot is a bit more unambiguous.

12:50 Yeah and also they could have just coated a weapon with flesh any way. What's to say they can only put it on top of a humanoid shape? As far as Skynet is concerned that is. Heck even the resistance could have used a purse made of fresh roadkill.

That build up in the Tech Noir scene, as Arnold brings the gun up and chambers a round, that's just of of thee most perfect build ups I've ever seen. Music, tension as Arnold brings the gun up, time slowing down, not sure about Reese (if its your first time seeing the movie)...just perfect imho

To me the scene where Kyle Reese asked about the date and year he was sent to kind of implied humans either didn't know how to use Skynet's time machine properly or the time machine itself malfunctioned and humans had to find a temporary solution.

Hey Decker, this is a fantastic film. I'm amazed that a director with little experience was able to make something so hectic and explosive on such a small budget. James Cameron proved he was a force to be reckoned with here, and somehow managed to capture lightning in a bottle twice with Terminator 2. I would like to see you review Back to the Future at some point.

The original Terminator was tough but it does get damaged, it has to do repairs to it's arm and has to mess with it's eye. When it's hit by the truck it has a limp the newer films all show a near superman level of strength and speed and resilience which makes it hard to suspend disbelief. Even the T1000 gets messed up in the T2 special edition cut after it's frozen and smashed it has trouble blending and sticking to railings etc. Fun Fact: Arnold was cast to play Kyle Reese and Micheal Biehn was supposed to play the Terminator, Arnold suggested playing the Terminator.

5:15 - I know it's a movie, but a sophisticated murder machine like the Terminator should know that a shot to the head is enough to end it's target. The multiple shots following are a waste of bullets. Deusdaecon would likely come up with an explanation for that course of action.
@chrisperrien7055
@chrisperrien7055 3 жыл бұрын
My guess, would be the Terminator, might do that because a brain-dead female's body still might be be put on life-support, and later give birth if pregnant. It has happened. Also women in a vegetable state have been raped and given birth too. So the Terminator was making sure any fetus /any ability to reproduce would be destroyed too. Those extra shots, could be said to be its priority mission. The head shot was just to immobilize , in a way. Eliminating the possibility of John Connor was it 's primary mission. As Reese said about the robots, "The Terminator was just being thorough" Deusdaecon ?

Fun fact: In the early development stages of the script, there were supposed to be two Terminators sent back, one the T-101 (or T-800 as it is retconned as) and the other being the T-1000, the liquid metal Terminator. With this, two protectors were sent back, one being Kyle Reese, and the other being a guy who didn't make the trip back, as he got stuck in a fire escape (as Cameron detailed, the weird ball that destroys stuff around it when people were sent back wasn't developed just yet) and caused him to die. However, much similar to Cameron having to wait many years for technology to catch up with his vision for Avatar, he realized he couldn't develop the liquid metal Terminator just yet and saved that for the sequel.
