You can actually make money from Culinary and Arts, that is if you're already a rich person, who can afford tools, equipments, ingredients, etc. To supplement your works. Prof here. I've been watching a lot of content from this channel, and I just want to remind everyone that college should be fun. In fact, it should be a lot more fun than your career. So? If pursuing your chosen degree just stresses you out or if it brings you no joy...can you expect your working life to be better? You don't have to be passionate about your work, but you should be able to derive joy from it. Everyone has to work, but I believe everyone who can should try to pursue a career that pays you more than a salary. So, if you COULD be studying something that brings you more joy, why not pursue it?

Having stable future and good job opportunities is far more important. What ever you do your job wont be the reason you're happy. What you do with the rest of your time is. And for that you need money.
@lilgrannyari
@lilgrannyari Жыл бұрын
@@yareyaredaz3522 I should preface that I work in the US and am speaking about opportunities that exist in that country. Individuals can grow wealth with or without a college education. There are many pathways that lead to financial stability. That many of the wealthiest individuals in our society do not have traditional college degrees is an oft-mentioned anecdote. In my experience, students often choose to pursue a college education because there's a particular career they want to go into. They may have different motivations for choosing that career, and I'm not so naive to think that only few students make that decision based on the potential financial return from a corresponding career. However, if you're working towards that degree and subsequent career and are completely miserable, you ought to consider your other options. Do you have to put yourself through decades of suffering to achieve a specific quality of life? I am so disheartened to see so many students tunneling on specific majors that only bring them despair when they might consider others that they may find more enjoyable and which STILL allow them to achieve their wealth goals. Perhaps they might have less stress foregoing a traditional college education all together and pursuing those goals through other means? And I also think it isn't necessary for everyone to pursue a program of study or career that they are "passionate" about, as passions change. Rather, finding something to study that is interesting, brings more pleasure than pain, and is ultimately satisfying would be a much better use of all that time and money we put into our college educations.

@@lilgrannyari I'd love to give an elaborate and well though answer to you because you raised a lot of very good conversation points here but I'm pressed on time so I'll make it brief. I study Physics in Greece. 4th best department of Physics in EU. I love physics its what I wanted to do. And I'm natural at it. But it's not the only thing that gives joy to life. Ultimately I'm far more cynical about work. It's a means to an end. You do it so you can have a decent income to travel, spent time with friends, not worry about bills and loans etc. Work is what helps you survive. The whole "I'm gonna be wealthy" narrative is a fairytale and completely unrealistic for 99.9% of the population. You need capital or dumb luck to make money. I've read these "entrepreneurs" stories. They did nothing spetial. They were just in the right place in the right time in history. Anyone could be at their place. Ultimately if you enjoy work that's a bonus but its not the norm for anyone. The important thing in life is when you get home to know everything is alright and that you have a place where you are happy with he right people. Chasing wild gooses trying to make millions is a sure way of wasting your life away. Because ar some point you may get sick and a few month latter you'll be drinking pints with satan. Life is short. Too bad the worldwide economy is so saturated with low income and low satisfaction jobs meaning no one gets to live before they die these days. Even in places like the US (well especially there. Even here in Greece with economic crisis people have better lives than the average american... no joke this is actualy true)

If you are really interested in sciences especially in health, and really wanna find a job after first 4 year college. I’d highly recommend looking to clinical/medical laboratory science and radiation therapy. There are colleges that offer programs in which you can graduate with your certification or get it after graduation and find jobs immediately after. These are in high demand and you can continue on w/ med school, more education, medical technology, or clinical research! Whatever ur heart desires😄

I was one of the lucky humanities majors who also wanted to go into a practical field. I studied literature and education (bc that’s where I realised I was most passionate! I started off in STEM and after a severe mental crisis I realised it was better to just do what I wanted instead what I had to). I had worked with kids and fell in love with it, fast forward to me getting a Master of Arts in Teaching and I am now a middle school English teacher! I do love it but it’s hard and definitely a field you need to want to go into !! It’s intense … If I had chosen I would have liked to study something like astronomy! But the college I went to was too intense and I truly love teaching more than anything else. Kids are tough but it’s so rewarding working with young people 💕 I remember some of my best memories are teaching 5th graders science and class novels! humanities and arts majors are not lost causes!! it’s sad that so many people are pushed towards degrees they don’t like but then. Reminds me that most of us work in things we have to more than want to. Also …. Degrees in STEM fields don’t guarantee jobs either …. I felt what that girl said about loving your major and still needing to go to grad school after !! It took a year after my BA of prep to get my teaching credentials and licenses 😬 I also did grad school do it took me two, but without a masters it would still have taken a while …

Based on this video, it seems like not many people major in anything related to the arts. I’m an Interdisciplinary Studies student, so basically it’s like learning multiple academic disciplines all at once. I’ve taken art-related courses and they seem fascinating from my own standpoint. There’s a handful of creative/artistic people in the world, and it’s amazing how those handful of people get to showcase their talents to a broader audience. I’m also aware that many other people don’t get those amazing opportunities, and the main problem here is finances, which is very unfortunate. They say if you truly want something, then there will always be a way. You may encounter challenges or difficulties, but it’ll be worth it.
