You have created a monster😂…because of you everything I touch I’m thinking “do I need it?”. I’m getting rid of sooo much. I had shut down after my daughter died and now 9 years later I am finally able to make sound decisions that I feel good about. So many people told me to have her shirts made into a quilt and honestly I would be afraid to use it and have it wear out…so I have been taking pictures of her shirts that were her favorites and I can make a photo collage of them instead and then donate. Thank you so much for somehow getting through to me. ❤️🙏🏻

I’m 58… so it’s getting easier to part with things. Especially after cleaning out my parents and grand parents home in the same year , 10 years ago. What a hot mess that was. Please adults… start decluttering so you don’t leave your kids the mess to clean up and organize.

@@cjhoward409 yep I’m 61 and it’s the first time in my life that I’m actually decluttering and getting rid of things I never would have thought. I’ve given family photos to family members that I never thought would happen. Getting rid of things that I always held on to so tight. I’m looking at my stuff with new eyes, is anyone really going to want this when I’m dead? So out it goes.

I failed at the 5-minute challenge. I ended up doing a 3-hour rage purge of fine art supplies. It needed to be done. I've opened the drawers and boxes many times to start, but always got overwhelmed before I touched the first paintbrush. Today was the day. I had a little "come-to-jesus-meetin'" with my stuff. The local high school art department will be getting a nice donation of goodies tomorrow. 😢 167 items gone just today, 380 total since the start of this challenge. Thank you Cas for the motivation.

How many reals of red does one person need? I’ve bagged them up for my neighbour who sews. 20 things gone in 5 mins. I am absolutely loving this monthly challenge. I too Cass have no finger prints. For some overseas papers I had to have my prints done, and it took weeks of hunting before I could get a good set. Finally I went to a place that makes them digitally, and after many failures I finally got one successful set! In my case it was not because of glue guns, but because I was a nurse. The fingerprint people say that often have trouble with nurses. We literally wear our fingers to the bone.

SABLE is a helpful concept to inspire craft purging. SABLE is Stash Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy. Accepting that one’s craft supplies are encroaching on SABLE status makes it easier see them as aspirational rather than practical. It makes it easier to shop my stash for what I love and donate the rest. Whatever I have I love and nothing’s looking back at me inducing guilt. It’s all inspirational. Bonus is the reasonable stash gives me joy and inspires creativity. ❤

@@djmac6088 I hadent eather till they were trying to get a finger print scan in order to register me on the system. What should have been a Quick scan and a few security confirmation questions took over half an hour. At one point the lady trying to get a scan had to call for technical help thinking her scanner was somehow broken. The tech support guy asked me a couple of questions, one of which was do I garden. And yes I do, I do lots of gardening. It is considered that the dry grittiness of the soil literally sands my fingerprints off. I suppose if I stopped garden for long enough they would become more defined. But I don’t know, and have no intention of not gardening.

If you have fabric that you want to declutter please contact your local quilt guild. Most of them have groups of quilters who make quilts for charities like women’s shelters and babies. Our group will take anything as we can donate fabric we can’t use to a local fabric store that will give us store credit for things not donated, like thread and batting. Quilts make such a difference to kidney dialysis patients who have to undergo long treatments that leave them chilled. Or fire victims who have lost everything. We also make Teddy Bear quilts wrapped around bears donated by our liquor board and these bears go to social workers, police and fire fighters to give to children and for Christmas hampers. I am loving this challenge although my craft rooms (I have 2!) will take more than one day. As I am an empty nester, I will go back to the craft rooms while others are decluttering kids toys and clothes.

Crafting has become a way for me to be creative and I’ve found I need to be creative. It brings me joy! I recently gathered my crafting supplies and decluttered by deciding that I realistically will only do counted cross stitch and painting. So I let most of the other craft type supplies go. It was so freeing because all my supplies for what I actually love to do are now organized on one set of shelves. I shop my stash prior to going to any craft stores. But I still can use an occasional declutter like this as I hone in on what I actually use and want for the future. Thanks! I’m a musician and have to develop callouses, I’m wondering about my fingerprints now!

I'm dabbling with crafting after watching you and other KZbinrs. I took a peek inside my craft box and don't want to get rid of anything as I FINALLY found time to craft. I also found the sandpaper I was looking for. I don't enjoy crafting, but am trying some simple crafts so I want to use the supplies I collected and see how I feel after "crafting" for a few months. Here are the things I discarded instead: used emery board kit from the other day, 20 emails, 1 download and about 12 text messages, 2 pieces of paper, 1 sprig of rosemary I used to make rosemary water for my hair. As another plug for my library video idea, many libraries have free craft classes and knitting and cross stitching groups if you want company.

I decluttered my fridge again this morning before going food shopping! Husband and kids are getting a good feed tonight with all the veg that needed used up! I hate food waste! Your videos have made me more aware of what I have and stop throwing money at things I don’t have want or need x

O-oow.... I thaught paperwork was hard,,,, this is even harder....Cas, you really cover everything, wich is superduper. The thing with crafting is; ou are creative and you see ideas in everything, so you keep everything..... But I haven`t got the energy or time to DO it.... so it keeps on piling up. I have to accept that I cannot do everything that occurs in my head....Big challenge for today again. Thank you!

Oh, good! I have knit 5 washcloths this week. Bye-bye, yarn! 3 are for a door prize for an upcoming event. 2 will go into my box for knitted dishcloths and scrubbies for Christmas gifts. This one was easy! And yes, I do use leftover bits for another project.

I’m currently finishing a quilt project I started in November 2020. Mostly because I’ve been adapting my skills slowly to more tactile ones as I became medically blind 8 years ago. Anytime one of my dozen or so projects gets too stressful it goes back into time out and I work on another one.

I was in my late 60's and had to be finger printed to get my hand gun permit. Several fingers had nothing! The lady doing it said they might approve me as no criminal record. They actually did! Mine wasn't due to a glue gun. I think I literally scrubbed them off. 😅😂

Cas, you really hit me where I live today. When I started this challenge, I never thought you'd go after my crafting supplies. I haven't gotten the nerve to do it yet. I'm going to have to brace myself before I tackle that particular challenge. Really enjoyed the story. Wouldn't the lack of fingerprints make your fingerprint more easily identifiable? I use to use a slicer in our country store and have nicked both of my pointer fingers so the prints there are a bit wonky.

Great video, thank you! An amazing nonprofit thrift shop we donated to that supported several types of animal rescue groups closed! I have so so many card making supplies to donate: photopolymer stamps, metal dies, so much more. But I haven’t found an alternative donation place. It’s the ONLY category that has me stumped, and I’ve searched. The only thing I can think of is to pack up a few good sized boxes and offer them to local cardmakers with the request they donate maybe $15 or more to one of a few local rescue groups I’ll list and put in each box, and trust they will if they say they will. No followup.

Omgoodness! I'm so guilty of hoarding craft supplies. I have a ton of yarn because I wanted to learn to crochet. I have stuff for jewelry stamping, wood burning, painting, watercolors, wreath making, including about 50 rolls of mesh and the wire frames! And I didn't even mention my scrapbooking stash (I use to sell Creative Memories). These are all things I really want to do and learn. Oh, I forgot about my Cricut Maker and all my vinyl! I have so much craft supplies from dollar tree i could open my own store. My craft room is so jammed with craft supplies, I can't even get to my craft table! I think I have a serious problem!😂
