I love this series! Thank you, Cass, for giving me permission to stop at 5 minutes, because what that has done is removed guilt if that's all the time I have that day to give to this - and at the same time, it's led to me sometimes going on further when time and my motivation permit. So either way, it's a win for me, and what we don't want when we're decluttering is a feeling of guilt and/or shame, which you have effectively removed. Every day I make a difference, and a small difference is still progress, which adds up to a visible difference in a surprisingly small number of repetitions, all things considered.

Saturday I cleaned out the dreaded overstuffed drawer of irrigation system parts in the garage. Threw away over a dozen old cannibalized for parts sprinklers. Sunday I tackled the bird feeders shelf in the garage cabinet. Put 4 feeders out at the end of the driveway with a FREE sign. They were gone before 2 pm. Next up is the houseplant potting shelves in the garage.

We don’t have any storage spaces really so today we worked in the kids room again and then toys outside. My 5 year old is so excited about decluttering today. He got rid of half a trash bag from his room and then a few hours later we got rid of a huuuge pile of things from outside, probably like 15-20 big toys That’s after we already did 6 bags total from the ADD so It’s actually a ton of stuff leaving today I’ve been reluctant to include him because I was afraid he would be sad to see it go, but he’s actually really aware of what’s special to him and what isn’t, so it’s so awesome to see how excited he is to make space for what matters. My husband is on board this time too. 💕

@Cas - I think the blouse you have on is one of the prettiest tops I’ve seen you in. It looks really good on you and it’s the right color and style. I bring that up to tell you that one of the biggest impacts I made on my closet was getting my personal color analysis done. Dear Cas, Your decluttering videos have been the ones that have helped me the most to get on the journey of decluttering and cleaning. I haven't been able to do the 30 day challenge due to health and fatigue issues but I watch them anyways. I especially love the tough love video podcasts. I watched the podcast video about your ADHD discovery and history. Along with ADHD I also feel I am on the spectrum of autism. I am too old to get tested but a lifetime of problems with all of this and feeling like a basket case. I just like to thank-you for the help you are giving to so many of us!! Along with your videos I watch Dr.Scott Eilers who helps me with the mental health side of things. He is a psychologist and like you has lived with the difficulty of the mental health issues and I have never had a therapist talk the way he does. Everyone just loves him. Just like everyone loves you for your expertise. Of course no one is perfect but you both work hard at helping all of us. So thanks again !!!

Next the storage room I was like I did this already but then you said to get the box that’s been sitting for 10 years and I knew exactly where to go…the box of teaching supplies from 23 years ago! Recycled, donated or threw away everything including the plastic bin! It was so easy! Don’t know why I was saving that stuff! Thanks for the motivation!

This process has really been paying off in, for me, unexpected ways. I'll admit I have blown off a couple of days and done double videos a couple of times, too. But, I getting the method of this madness. I'm seeing how 5 minute a day with super low expectations is working to build my letting go muscles and learning that even tiny steps forward pay off in making a difference. I now have a couple of drawers I don't have to wrestle to close. I get to open a closet and it looks different - not perfect, just enough different to make me happy and motivated for more. I'm letting go much more easily with even just this little bit of practice. I'm so glad I have stuck with it (sort of). Hey - progress not perfection as we say in 12 steps.

It does need doing so this is a rain check only. Talking of which I can’t get into the garage either! I will have to wait till we get a dry day…. Both need my partner’s agreement! Biggest hurdle of all , though he has agreed to chuck some of his vast collection of rusty screws! I’m staying with you though. Wasn’t able to do this basement area declutter until today - a couple days late. I got out a big contractor bag of things- about 20 things. Plus a bag of over 10 year old college orientation papers, brochures, and information for one of my children.(I asked her even though I knew she was going to tell me to trash it all. Lol) I have 4 things to donate- a camp skillet and a camp griddle, dish rack and drainer, and a votive candle centerpiece to put around the umbrella on a patio table. Was looking forward to doing this area and the garage during the All Day Declutter but I was away on Saturday so I spent more than 5 minutes today- maybe 30-45 minutes because I had to ask the “kids” about some stuff. I definitely made progress- more to come… Your Roomba story….Oooh. I can imagine that sad, horrified feeling in the pit of your stomach when you saw and then realized all you had to do to clean it all up. Yikes! The poo detector sounds like a good idea- didn’t know they had them.

CAS, I'm working on my craft room ...been doing this decluttering for days, now. Took pictures in the beginning. Will take more later....just feel a need to really downsize in here. I'm making headway...filling trashbags and donation containers. BUT, I think, it's going to take a couple of more times after this decluttering to get my space down to where I need it to be Got to STAY FOCUSED, so I can get it done. Rest of the house looks pretty good. TFS....I APPRECIATE you!😊

Had to add one more thing ...no other room in my house has as much contents stuffed into drawers/shelves/containers as does my crafting space ... INCREDIBLE!

As someone in the UK I totally passively watched. No basement or loft/attic in my home!

As someone in Germany I sat on my couch and spent 5 minutes thinking about what to do instead 😂

I mean, I'm in California, U.S.A. and we don't have basements in California. Some have attics but I don't so I'll just do another repeat area 😊

If there’s an area/space that doesn’t apply to you, choose another space that needs attention! As long as you’re decluttering 5 min a day it doesn’t matter what space you’re in!

Well it was tough. "Paralysed" through trauma and ill health ( not physically though physically) a year or two ago water coming through my ceiling in a room I was working towards completing ( and more crisis in the state of the apartment I am renting) as a bedroom for my youngest son DS26. I did go in with the mindset of 5 minutes and quickly pulled a couple of box folders and an old atlas road map easy. Then I had been meaning to fill a plastic box with my eldest son's books. Turned out to be lots of paperwork to let go of in the file boxes . and warranties.I thought I had let go years ago they were easy to do though. Another 3 hours. I microorganise. I find you helpful Cass as I like how you look at it. I know so much about decluttering. I overthink it though and it is complex. I would prefer to let it go like you do than do this. Also seems like dust in the air I am trying to get rid of HVAC doesn't help. And two apartments above flooded. So dusty mould on things? HA tries to get out of it. My bookcase and desk affected.😢 And 18 months of drying the place out on my own.

Oh that’s crazy. I never thought of the Roomba doing that but totally makes sense. I’m glad they found a way to have a sensor inputted.

Ehen you said, "I do need this bunny pillow." I fell a little more in love with you. Anything bunny is hard for me to let go.
