Please make a playlist at the end of the month!! These videos are so motivating, and it's so much easier for me - as a fellow ADHDer - to have you as a body double. 5 things/5 minutes is so doable, and at the end of the month, that's 150 items! Plus, these are areas that it wouldn't hurt to revisit on a monthly basis for maintenance!

I keep OTC (over-the-counter) meds in a clear zipper bag in an upper cabinet, so I'm checking expiration dates every time I get into it. Prescriptions are kept in a large duffel bag in my kitchen, which I empty out to fill my pill boxes every week. Everything in the duffel comes out and is reloaded on pill-refill day, which is when I reorder any Rx necessary, as well as adding needed OTC items to my shopping list, along with a photo of the front label (for better clarity). When you take a lot of meds on a regular basis, it's really important to stay on top of things. ALSO, I keep a list of meds with name, dose, reason for use, time of day, and prescriber on my computer. It's easy to print off a copy before I head to an appointment, hand it off when I get there, and update any changes ASAP when I get home.

First of all, thank you soooo much for this. I love watching you so much and love how relatable you are. I also love your stories. I have a lot of embarrassing ones too. I can relate to how you react when one of your kids get hurt. I was an RN at a trauma center and saw a lot of weird stuff and dealt with it. But when my oldest son was 9 or 10 he was fooling around with scissors and cut the top of his finger off. I totally freaked out! He suggested a towel and asked if his hand should be above his heart. I got him to urgent care and the nurse put me in a wheelchair because she was afraid I was going to faint. She said I was as white as the sheet of paper I was given. Where as my son did fine while he was stitched up. I couldn’t even watch. We are moms first, Cas.

I check my various first aid/medical areas every month or so, so I used today's episode to refill my MIL's daily meds tray for next week. When my kids were little, my husband always freaked out when they injured themselves. I was the one who stayed calm. Bleeding dim forehead like stuck pig? Cold compresses and take the wound shut. Scrapes? Wash thoroughly, bandage, give kisses and move on. Etc.

I LOVE this challenge!!! I had never before tried the "5 minute rule" before, but now, it's almost become a game. Most days, I've been able to declutter far more than 5 items. As someone who stuggles with chronic illness, this has been a game changer!!! I used to kind of give myself the day off if I had a blistering migraine, but this is SO doable, I've been able to manage it just fine. I'm so pumped after 5 minutes, I just want to keep going! It's given me JOY in decluttering rather than dread. Bring on the next 19 days!!

I think we must be related. That's EXACTLY how I react, at least that's what my husband says. On the other hand, when my husband sees blood, he faints. One time, he was on a step ladder fixing something and cut a gash in his hand, he looked at it, fainted and fell off the ladder. I got him into the bathroom and while he was sitting on the toilet, he looked at his hand and fainted again, slid off the toilet. Then I managed to get him back up on the toilet and put a washrag on it but when he saw more blood, he passed back out. I made him stay on the floor until I could clean and wrap the wound. I was afraid he was going to get a concussion from falling and hitting his head so much. Luckily, we don't have kids...just fur babies.

When my son had his tonsils and adenoids removed and was brought back from surgery. The nurse (who I knew) asked me to help transfer him to the bed. He had a tiny bit of blood around his nostrils and I had to sit down with my head between my knees so I wouldn’t pass out. I was so embarrassed.

I was having a bad allergic reaction from msg in food at 4am......I grabbed the first Benadryl I found, and finally after feeling better, I checked the box......it expired 5 years ago, and STILL workied. That made me believe expiration dates can be Guidelines😃

I have recently cleaned out meds in my bathroom and all the pills and lotions I use. But I had not looked at my RX nasal sprays - 2 unused ones had expired in August but the worst was the one I am currently using expired in May - I don’t even know how that happened. I thought I was checking them each time I started using a new one. Thank you for helping me check these things.

Dang, I thought this area was already decluttered. I was sure there wouldn't be five things. I was soooo wrong! 😅 Found a grocery bag's worth of expired vitamins and meds!

Ok, I love your videos and watch them all the time, but I definitely already did my medicine cabinet, so I just went to the end to hear your story. You should do a whole video where you tell us stories 😂. You are so incredible. Thank you Cas. Also, we have so much in common. ❤

So I'm not doing this 5 minutes decluttering like you have been because my work schedule is crazy but your videos have been helping motivate me and today I decluttered all my clothes and I got rid of 2 full garbage bags of clothes. All my clothes fit in my drawers and in my half of the closet. Makes me feel so good to be ruthless about decluttering.

I found 3 expired vitamin bottles, put all my bandages together, made a list of a couple of things we need ... And then decluttered 10 more random things from my room, plus I finally dropped off 2 bags of stuff for school, fixed my watch band, and put new batteries in my son's Brio train 😅 I'll get back on-topic tomorrow 😂

Yay 🎉 I just did this. I got rid of all those bandaid boxes and combined them into a single container. Also multiple bottles of same meds get combined. Reduced the whole mess into a very organized system. Yay me! 😆😆😆

This 30-days has finally vanquished the great-grandparent dust bunnies and the family lineage of dust in a part of the house I shamefully use daily and have said "I should dust this" for... literally, a year or more! hahaha

You can throw expired meds/scripts in the trash. In some used cat liter, preferably. lol I once looked it up, and that is the answer I found. 🤯

When it’s my kiddos that get hurt like that I am the first one freaking out! My son cut his chin when he was 6. I knew instantly he needed stitches. Next thing I remember waking up to him putting a cold facecloth on my face. 😲 🤦🏻‍♀️

CAS, thanks for these great videos. You are really helping me deal with an overwhelming situation. I am so grateful. I am 63 and preparing to move out of the house I grew up in! My parents were borderline hoarders and I have tried to keep myself in check there, but definitely have the hoarding gene. I relate to your medical obsession as I have one too. My husband jokes that I’m getting my medical degree from watching medical shows on tv. I love trying to make a diagnosis and figure out the next step ,before it’s announced . I worked as a veterinary nurse for a couple of years and it was my favourite job ever! I have undiagnosed ADHD but I’m great in an emergency, if I do say myself. I remain calm. I tell people what they have to do, I perform first aid, I ask for help if I don’t know , get an ambulance , or get someone to the help they need THEN I fall apart. Usually a big ugly cry , a headache and I feel spent! I am the person people call for advice when they aren’t well, but I’m not so great at giving myself advice. It’s a case of- Take my advice, I’m not using it.

Make sure you check with your local pharmacy *before* taking your expired meds to them! I work at a pharmacy that can’t take them back. We have to send people to the local police station.

Hey Mama Bear,🐻💕 its ok to react they way you do when it comes to your loved ones, especially the kiddos! We are 7 kids in my family, and my dad always worried that we would fall and hurt ourselves. It's the same thing with anger. I'm allowed to be angry with my loved ones, but if anyone else is, mother wolf comes out for protection!🐺❤

I got the tip out garage bins from container store, spendy but my husband and I are both visual people and I want to be able to quickly see what we have and find it quick esp when I'm nauseous from a migraine I don't have time to rummage through an entire bin. each major med or type has it's own little drawer. Game changer! There's also a little card holder on each bin that you can slip the exp dates/label etc

Staying calm in a family emergency is being a good example for our children and grandchildren, which helps them stay calm, too. Fall apart later, if you must, Clutterbugs! Once, I was called to daycare when my daughter fell off a retaining wall, which caused a gash on her chin that, of course, she couldn’t see. I remained calm, so she remained calm and didn’t cry. I met my mother-in-law at home so that she could watch my younger daughter while I took the oldest to the emergency room. One look at her, and my mother-in-law said something like “Oh, you poor thing!” in a pathetic voice, and my daughter broke down and cried! Adults have such an influence on children because children look up to us so much and trust us. They figure, “If an adult acts this way, it must be very bad!” and will react accordingly.
