I purge and declutter regularly for the last 5 years. I have a totally empty bedroom and another 3 bedrooms totally minimalist. Clothes and shoes and purses minimalist as well. I'm 80 years old widow and don't want my children to get burdened with stuff when I'm gone.

I made myself go through product about a year ago. It was difficult because of the realization of all the money I'd spent, wasted. But, once done, a relief, and determined not to be so foolish with money going forward. I've learned a truly valuable, expensive lesson. Decluttering, worth it!

As I am allergic to almost all mascara, I find the best thing to do is have my eyelashes tinted. It lasts for weeks, and no running or flaking.

I stopped wearing makeup when I went to progressive lenses at age 42. I basically have no eyebrows either and I decided I was ok with all of it because my glasses pretty much hide it. . My skin is Irish and fair. I do have lotions to look at because I have dry skin everywhere else on my body due to medications I take. I only use 3, 1 is an Rx and 1 a foot cream and the other for body. So this was the easiest day for me so far. I'm told I look much younger than my 74 years and I believe that is due to my Irish skin and no makeup. This whole daily check has been great for me because it is measuring my success at reducing my inventory over all. My art room is the most inventory I own and it is my retirement oasis. It is finally decluttered and organized and I couldn't be happier. Thanks so much for your authentic self . I have learned to forgive myself and let go of the excess and bad buying choices and how to be a smarter consumer.

Hi Cas, I only wear three products: Foundation, eye shadow and blush! No mascara because like you my eyes are extremely watery and I was tired of looking like a raccoon! I gave it up years ago! I used to love that Maybelline mascara too! I switched to the waterproof "lash princess" by essence. The lid looks like a little corset. It's worked well for me and not too $$$

You’re right, make up is expensive sometimes. And it can be hard to let it go. I am lipstick and lip gloss obsessed. So I end up having colors that don’t work for me or they become broken. I actually melt them down and create a new color that I can wear and pour it into a really pretty lipstick tube that I have And reuse it. Some of my make up, I’m able to repurpose with crafting whether it be the actual make up itself or the beautiful packaging. The rest of it goes into the garbage. When it comes to fragrances, I’m decluttering I either gift them or use them as linen and room sprays. Old make up brushes I clean out and either use them for crafting or for cleaning. They are great for getting in the vents inside of a car, and in little small areas in artwork, figurines, candles, etc. The bristles are soft and they don’t damage delicate items that you’re cleaning. Especially if you have silk flowers. Used makeup brushes are great for cleaning, silk flowers and even real plants because they’re very soft.

You need a tubing mascara. They are water-resistant and make tubes around your lashes so are great for length. You remove them with warm water.

One thing that I've started doing recently to help me save time getting ready is to have a daily makeup bag & a glam makeup bag. I don't need a palette of eye shadows, colored mascaras, all my brushes, etc, for everyday looks. But then I can easily grab the glam bag for a night out. I absolutely love not fumbling through everything when I'm getting ready in the morning ❤ This was a great chance for me to declutter my glam bag since I don't use it often 😊 Thanks! Well, I don't wear makeup so I thought this would be an easy one for me. Now that I'm thinking about it, I have a crap load of chapstick that I haven't touched in over a year and a half. I know that for a fact because that's when we moved and I haven't even opened that box as it sits in the bottom of my linen closet! I guess I have some work to do. And here I thought this would be an easy day!! haha Another benefit - makeup EXPIRES and old outdated makeup is bad for the skin anyway. You are doing yourself a huge favor and saving your skin in the process.

I didn’t expect that, but it made me emotional during decluttering. I don’t Wera make up at all. I feel like dressed up anytime I have something beside a day cream or BB on my face. Mascara is on a really special occasions. BUT I had whole box of make up produkts in my bottom drawer „just in case”. Today I looked at all of this and realize I don’t want to deal with this excess anymore. I got rid of all of this. I was like a bully clothes but in make up version. I feel liberated, thank you!!!

Cas, love this 30 day declutter so much! Use Rodan and Fields Lash Boost to grow your lashes. Then apply waterproof L’Oréal voluminous to curled top lashes. Dust bottom rim of lashes with setting powder. You will have the best lashes! Super long. No black streaks.

Cas, I suffer from the same cry when I laugh. I switched to a tubing mascara from Em Cosmetics that I really love. It won’t run down my face when I laugh. It activates with warm water and slight agitation. Essence makes one that is affordable called bye bye panda eyes 😅

Great job…. You know I’m glad you are chucking it all away because I’m TOTALLY convinced that even if you kindly pass it on …the people who receive it rarely use it if ever. You are saving them from a future declutter. They excitedly say yes to a freebie but probably wont use it. I have come to realise I dont use or wear things people give me when they are sorting out. I took 6 shirts from my Mum 6 months ago when I helped her declutter …because I liked them. They fit well. But I never wear them. So they left a few days ago when I followed your clothes declutter video. Unless we buy it or need it or go out looking for it I feel it just sits around. Ma’am, respectfully… if they have been open for “years”… pretty much everything will need to be thrown straight into the trash for safety. Bacteria and other pathogens grow in and on the products within 6-24 months of opening, depending on the product (look for the little “open jar” icon on the back of cosmetic packages, that tells you how many months the product can be open before it needs to be discarded!) Also, from what I’ve read, for whatever reason, you might be somewhat immune to your own microorganisms, but they can be rather problematic when introduced into the environment of someone else, so you definitely don’t want to pass the old stuff on to others.

I know both mascara and lipstick can both go off and i wouldn’t want anyone to use something like that, that has been used, not very hygienic. The other eyeshadow and hand cream that had been opened and used went straight into the rubbish bin.

I am pretty low maintenance, but every once in a while I will make up my face for an event. I don't think I'll be much help with personal experience or products, but I have 2 different friends: 1 who goes and gets her lashes tinted so it looks like she is wearing mascara all the time and another who goes an gets lash extensions. I know they both rave about how much time and money they save in the long run by treating themselves to this service. AND remember that you are more than your face and the things you put on it. You are beautiful inside and out! I know you like to make jokes out of things and that's definitely your personality, but I think we can all agree that we are all our worst critic and its really not as bad as we make it to be! You're doing great!

I don't wear much makeup. So I was amazed that I still had products that I should have tossed years ago. My youngest has been my go to for advice on Makeup. She was just telling me today that if you want length the mascara brush should be thin, if you want volume it should be thicker.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Volume in waterproof black is my go to mascara. As for makeup, I found 2 trio eyeshadows, an eyeliner, an old brush and some dried out wipes to go 😊 I also found some mini perfumes, which is perfect timing as my big bottle just ran out, and this way I can naturally declutter them in time too 💪I got this!

Maybelline lash discovery -silver tube teal writing. Comes in waterproof formula. Very skinny brush so you can hit all those non existent lashes. Not super wet and thick when brand new either. I swim in this. Waterparks, beaches, pools, amusement parks. You name it. Try it !!

Someone once told me if you have hair conditioner you don’t love, you can use it for shave cream instead. I’ve found shampoo works as well. No more suffering thru a bad bottle of hair products or wasting it!

Honestly, I haven’t found one that works but I’ve had a Yumi eyelash lift that makes a huge difference. They essentially separate, dye and perm your lashes. Makes you look like you are wearing mascara and lasts for 4-6 weeks.

MASCARA-I swapped from Great Lash to their(Maybelline) other line 'Lash Sensational' (waterproof) as I have oily lids plus I am going through menopause so the hot flashes are a real pain with makeup too. I used to manage for Clinique and loved their High Impact mascara, but the Maybelline one is less than half the price & works great and stays put.

6:23 have the same type of problems, with invisible lashes, and used to use that one too… now i was recommended the benefit brand, and tried their mascara “fan fest” and it works great! Even balled my eyes out wearing it with minimal damage of running and staining. **benefit - FAN FEST** 😊

I used to wear the Mabelline you showed at the end. Too bad it has changed! I let go of wearning mascara awhile ago as my eyelashes are way too sparse now. Instead, I have focused on creating beautiful eyebrows and that's where my attention goes to now.

I used to have a setting spray that would come out in big droplets all over my face, so instead I sprayed it on a beauty blender and dabbed it over my foundation before putting setting powder on and it worked well that way. Also when with the EL double wear, you could mix it with a lighter foundation and use it that way. A good drugstore mascara is Maybelline Sky high, that one works really well

Better Than Sex mascara is THE BEST mascara I’ve ever used. I’ve used soooo many and went on a hunt for the best. They have a waterproof one. It lasts a very long time! It’s expensive but I have had the same TRAVEL SIZE one I use every day for the last year. So it’s worth it!

Mirenesse Supreme mascara (from Australia) - it makes lashes look longer and you just remove it in the shower (or when cleaning). Just needs a little warm water and it comes off in tubes 👌

I traded my mascara for Flutterhabit lashes! They have tiny ones that actually (yes, really!) look natural, cost about $5/pair and last for DAYS! I apply once (takes me 10-15 minutes) and I can even sleep in them. As a busy mom who has no time for makeup, I LOVE them and love that I can roll out of bed looking put together with such minimal effort. *Not a commercial, just a happy user!

I sold skin care products for 26 years for a company that had a return policy. I loved the product! I started using it in my 50s because of my adult acne and loved the results. I did this a couple weeks ago. I have a small cute 3-tiered stand I bought several years ago for nail polish. However I still had a couple big jars full as well. I made a pact that I wouldn't keep anything in excess of what would fit on the stand. I found duplicate colors and dried colors and I only have what I love now. It worked so well that I bought a chic makeup organizer in white and gold and did the same. It was hard and both organizers are full but at least they're not in excess now! 🎉

I love my makeup it’s like the only thing I collect (wait.. who am I kidding🤦🏼‍♀️) but I have so much it’s definitely going to be hard for me but some of it is like 5+ years old and I know if I pair down it will be easier (less decision fatigue) to do my makeup plus I’m always searching through to find my faves so the old has got to go!
