Gotta love all the techs out there reading cytology’s. It’s a very valuable skill. I’m often asked to read out certain things, which if I’m busy can be overwhelming, but I was reminded by a Dr the other day that it’s a compliment. She was telling me this because she asked the room who was good at these things and the room nominated me. I was very busy but also more than happy to do it when I finished some things.

Hello Dr. Judy. This is a comment about the dog food controversy. You said there were dogs that have had multiple blood transfusion and still died. I’m am reading a book on the benefits and uses of DMSO & MSM. I don’t know enough about these products other than they need distilled water and is a solvent that can penetrate into the blood faster. So whatever medications you are using , it will strengthen that medication and enter faster. I’m reading a green book with a tree frog on it written by a scientist that has studied these products. I wanted to pass this on in hopes that it can be used to start saving animals.

Just wanted to say thank you for doing these types of videos. Being able to understand the data myself is so relieving especially when vet care is not what it should be these days. Sadly we have to be more aware than ever so we can ensure our pets are being cared for the way they should be, and that starts with being educated! Appreciate all you do! ❤

I just had a urinalysis done for the first time on a rescue dog. This video helped me decipher so much that the vet didn't explain.

TIL about urine test strips and P pole. Awesome, thank you!! I'm always looking for another item to add to my dog kit, and this could help catch something early, in between checkups!

Definitely worth a try but look up cds. It is msm already mixed snd I believe more oxygenated. I have used msm and dmso myself but hard to mix the 2 exactly as it should be

My dogs specific urine gravity was 1.020, previously 1.041 a few months prior. Trace amounts of protein founds and rare squamous epithelial cells (was previously moderate). My natural vet said the specific gravity is at the lower end and to do an ultrasound for the epithelial cell...trying not to freak out. Could these be signs he needs more water or something else? I already feed him half cooked half raw. Tia

Is it possible to get those test strips you show here and test at home?

Hello Dr Judy, you said 1.012 to 1.016 urine has gone through kidney without either been diluted or concentrated by it. if SG is less than 1.012 then kidney is diluting urine. if SG is more than 1.016 then kidney is concentrating urine. my shih tzu urinalysis returnn a 1.019 SG. is this good or bad? our vet said it has to be greater or equal to 1.030.? so confused. could someone shed some light... urinalysis was done as they suspect CKD, CRE 1.8 BUN 51.

Cant alkaline diets cause the ph to be high too? My dog has dilute urine and ph tends to run 7.5 to 8 and I'm told its the food after running tests. She also was diagnosed with cushions, but vets say they think her gi disease is causing false positives.

Hello Dr. Judy I have a dog with calcium oxalate stones he had 2 surgeries already. The second surgery was after one year he had the first one. my pet was on Royal canin urinary SO. I ask the vet why again if he was on a diet food, he told me could be the water or my dog is prone to have those kind the stones. Distilled water will be better than zephyrhills water or any other ??? I am giving him fiji sometimes.

Trying changing food, I had no issues with Hills prescription u/d besides that it made my dog fat! He is now on a homemade diet, in great shape Ann’s happy al Larry.

Is it possible that a urine sample held in the fridge for 5 hours could give a false positive for calcium oxalate crystals and a low PH?

Isn't it normal for intact males to have protein in their urine?
