21:15 This is a misconception. Think back to KH1 and you'll recall that Darksides, Darkballs and Invisibles were fierce and extremely aggressive Pureblood Heartless. Likewise in CoM and KH2 the Neoshadows are hyper-aggressive versions of ordinary Shadows. On the flipside there are a number of Emblem Heartless in KH1 and KH2, mostly mushrooms, who are not hostile at all and will never attack you. Emblem Heartless have artificial personalities that can potentially override their base instinct to collect hearts. All Pureblood Heartless on the other hand have an inherent desire to take the hearts of others. The reason why Shadows don't appear to be as hostile or threatening is because they represent one of the weakest forms of Heartless, made from those who lost their heart when they had very little darkness in them; that's why Sora became a measly Shadow instead of something more dangerous. Ansem, Seeker of Darkness was an exceptional example of someone with a strong 'superhuman' heart who was already so incredibly steeped into the darkness at the time he became a Heartless that he was able to retain sentience and his human appearance, albeit without a body - he needed to take control of another body, Riku's, in order to actually regain a physical form.

What is particularly interesting, in my opinion, is that Ansem the Wise remembered Kairi from Radiant Garden. I suppose that makes sense, since the only times we've seen her in Radiant Garden were around the castle, but why she presumably lived in the castle is quite curious.

It's possible that Kairi were of some form of royalty or nobility, or perhaps she was otherwise somehow meant to someday rule Radiant Garden. Her heart cannot become a heartless, but the body and soul are already becoming a Nobody, so clearly it must create a Nobody for that heart too? Thus, Namine is born, of 2 (technically 3) unlikely glitches: heart cannot produce a heartless, body and soul is not the same as the heart within, and the act was done willingly.

Basically, When a heart is overcome by darkness the body and soul turn onto a nobody, but in Kiari's case, her heart cant be taken by the darkness, (Due to being a Princess of Light) And so when sora heart was overcome, her heart thought it was being taken too. but there cant be a heartless for her, and there cant be a nobody without a soul and a body, so Namine was Born of Kiari's Soul in Sora's Body, While Roxas Was also born with Sora's Soul in Sora's Body.

Nobodies aren't actually that much of an abnormality. Conceptually it's just the person who became a Heartless having the force of will to continue existing when normally the fade away despite the lacking a heart, to varying degrees of selfhood. It's a consistent enough event for it to be as normal a law of reality as people becoming Heartless. So Namine is just an exploit. Kairi can't normally go through the Heartless process so she can't have a Nobody. Ah, but what if you cheesed that by putting her heart in someone else and then making a Heartless. Boom Namine. The real glitch is Roxas. The process of willingly becoming a Heartless would normally leave a Ansem SoD and Xemnas situation, but Kairi used her hax powers to restore Sora's Heartless back to his normal self, and despite this Roxas still exists. This means that there are now two versions of Sora's body and soul existing simultaneously (three if you count Namine too). It's even more ridiculous when you include what's learned in BBS.

Namine and Roxas are both interesting. Basically it all started because Kairi's heart was inside Sora and when he brought her back he lost his heart in the process, then later was able to get his heart back thanks to Kairi. Makes me feel like he put his heart in Kairi when he brought her back and she was able to give it back. I don't know but that is what I like to believe.

Ah.. He finally hit the reports and the growing headache induced from figuring out WHAT Namine is. Basically, to help out. Person/Somebody = Light + Darkness = Heart + Body + Soul Darkness consumes - Heartless. If Heart is strong - Body (Now Sans Heart) is Nobody. Memories of the heart (Person) goes to the nobody (Cos the heartless are creatures of pure instinct and aggression). BUT. Now. The contradictions begin. (And this is only till KH2 mind you. HOO BOY). Sora spent Veeeeeeeeeeery little time as a heartless before Kairi restored him> Which is kinda why Roxas didnt know about him, till Namine started messing around like an IT person with no experience in IT: "Have you tried turning it off and on again? Oh you did. Okay. Then cut the red wire. What do you mean theres no red wire?!" Technically, everything you do as Sora after the first fight in Hollow bastion is Sora's Heartless, Restored. NOT Sora on the WHOLE. But thats a whole OTHER can of worms that we dont have time to unpack right now. Kairi - Possesses no darkness. Therefore No heartless. But also in losing her heart - the body remains in the realm of light (Which then becomes a huge thing in phase 2 of KH1). So... Technically Kairi's BODY lost its Heart. But there was no Heartless formed. But the body belonged to someone with a strong will. So it "reanimated" itself and became Namine. BUT Kairi's heart didnt join the darkness (Instead going to Sora) - So Namine had no memories of her own. BUT since Kairi was joined to Sora's Heart for SO LONG (literally after the events of Destiny Island's Collapse), she got some weirdo powers to alter HIS memories and those that had to do with them. So.. Namine technically isnt even a "body" at this stage. THAT is what Diz was freaking out over. An analogy if you will. When you bring an object close to a curved mirror and you position it juuuuuuuust right (See google, depending on convex/concave mirror for exact conditions) - You get an "Imaginary" image that doesnt really exist, and cant be caught on a screen. That is Namine. In a nutshell. OH. Also. Xemnas/Xehanort's Nobody wasnt the one who discovered Namine - HENCE No X in her name like all other nobodies. I wonder who named her then... Maybe she did herself. Or maybe it was Marluxia when he went in riiiiight before COM. And this is only considering the events of KH1, Re:COM, and KH2. NOTHING Beyond that - Cos THAT produces its OWN set of cluster headaches in itself.

This is why I've been sucked into this series, never to leave again. I could only play KH3 and the game that come after, so I was bound to let's play all these years. Yet, the story kept on fascinating me time and time again. It may be convoluded, and sometime silly. But it's so damn good I can easily forgive it. 358/2 days already make your hurt bleed, but BBS is my personal favorite. And even these games doesn't compte with what 3D introduced, and the road we are taking after KH3 and the Union Cross stuff. May your heart be your guiding key, my friend !

If you still have some questions, it might be worth looking up translations of interviews with Tetsuya Nomura from the Kingdom Hearts Ultimania books. Let’s see if I can actually explain this, as I have only the same amount of info Deebee has. 1: Sora and Kairi’s hearts are separated Simultaneously. 2: Sora turns into a heartless. 3: Namine is born and uses Sora’s body and soul to come into being, a.k.a. combining with Roxas. 4: Kairi’s princess heart purifies Sora’s heartless, removing the darkness and restoring Sora back to his human form. 5: Roxas loses memories due to Sora returning from being a heartless, cutting his connection to Roxas, and Roxas doesn’t have the same drive to find his heart because their is no heartless for him to find, and because Sora already has it and isn’t searching for him. From what I’m getting here, Sora no longer technically has a body and soul for a while until returning to Roxas, but is a fully functioning heart held together due to Kairi’s body and soul. Meanwhile, Kairi loses her body and soul, but her heart is held together using Sora’s body and soul as Namine combined with Roxas. This means they are literally holding each other together. If one died, the other would likely die too because of how entangled they are. Their fates are literally intertwined in a knot.

I've been a kingdom hearts fan for many many many years now and thus know almost all of these things already, but I've never really been able to read through all of the Ansem reports (combination of not having the actual games and adhd brain not letting me read through them carefully) but the way you do this makes it so easy to follow. 11:09 To give some clarification here: In the vanilla _Kingdom Hearts,_ there were just 10 reports, and in the original Japanese version, the reports were numbered 0-9. Final Mix added 3 more reports, making it 0-12(1-13 in English version). Thus, when Secret Ansem Reports mentions "Report 0", it's referring to first Ansem Report we get in first _KH_ by defeating Genie Jafar. 25:16 Ansem's referring to his DiZ-outfit(a "DiZguise", if you will).

The easiest way to explain Naminé is that, according to the rules of Kingdom Hearts' world, if a heart is lost from a complete person a Nobody is born. That is something that must occur. Under normal circumstances, the person who lost their heart has what's left of them (their own body and soul) become the components of a Nobody. Kairi's heart left a body. That was the condition for a Nobody to be born, according to the rules of the world. But Naminé was a special case for three reasons. 1. Kairi's heart left someone else's body, not her own. 2. Kairi is a princess of heart, an already very rare and special kind of person, and as such Naminé's creation didn't involve darkness. 3. Kairi's body and soul weren't available to be reincarnated into a Nobody since Kairi remained a complete person. This was pretty much the same with Sora. As such, a different body and soul came together to create Naminé, or rather, a new body and soul sort of came into existence through the natural magic that governs the world's rules. Naminé was such a special case because the basic conditions that force a Nobody to be created were fulfilled, but none of the other normal conditions under which a Nobody is born were fulfilled. She's pretty much the most unique person in KH lore because she's such an anomaly. She's a little bit Kairi and a little bit Sora (the "heart leaving a body creating a Nobody" was her heart leaving his body), and was born because the rules of the world were bent but not broken.

Hey, Dee? I’ve sorta been following along with you with the KH Story (I know the majority of it just not a lot of pieces in the middle). I found out why Sora has Anti-Form. When Sora sacrificed himself to bring back Kairi’s heart, he became a Heartless. Kairi knew that Heartless was Sora and brought him back using her own Pure Light from her Heart. Sora is very…special. He returned to his original form without his body (because his body/vessel was used to give life to Naminé). Whenever Sora overuses his powers of the Keyblade, the darkness in his Heart tries to take over. That being his Anti-Form.

I know it's been some time since you read these reports so you likely understand now, but on the off chance you don't, about Namines situation. Here's how I came to understand it. First with the Nobodies themselves, when they come into being they use the memories of their original bodies as a sorta blueprint to reconstruct themselves into a new being. Kairi is a unique situation, being a Princess of Heart she's literally incapable of producing a Nobody on her own, because her body still sticks around after the heart is gone. So, in order to even have a Nobody, it needs an outside party to produce one. AKA, Sora. When Sora released his heart, not only was Roxas born, but Namine too thanks to Kairis heart being released too. One issue, Sora ain't Kairi, and he already got a Nobody, so how does this new Nobody get a body? Extract from the memories. Soras memory of what Kairi looks like is used as the blueprint for how Namine looks instead of the usual method, the body itself. Which probably explains her power as she's closer to Soras memory that way. At least that's how I understood it after some thought. Hope that made sense :/

All I have to say in regards to BBS critical is I hope he gets at least a little help when it comes to melding, otherwise who knows if he'll ever get Second Chance or Once More 😅 I personally never play without a guide because the trial and error to get certain abilities is just tedious

So timeline of play order for the games. And this does include what you played: KH 1 - Re:Chain of Memories - KH 2 - 358/2 days - Birth by Sleep - Re:coded - Dream Drop distance - Birth by Sleep 0.2 - KH 3 - Melody of Memories For the Important lore: Back cover - KH Union X - Darkroad(Ending is delayed) The Union X stuff takes place thousands of years in the past. And Dark Road takes place a few decades in the past. Plus both are mobile games but are important. All the while Back cover is apart of 2.8. Which has Dream Drop Distance HD and 0.2 in it. It has some important information that helps with the lore. Also Back cover has no game play, you can watch the cutscenes of Union X and Darkroad on youtube. And Melody of Memories is a rhythm game.

Unlike regular people who lose their hearts... Kairi did not lose hers to the darkness since she had no darkness in her heart as a princess... instead her body stayed there... not being able to produce a nobody since the soul stayed in her actual body... then Sora came and unlocked his own heart to give it to kairi to wake her up... hence connecting their hearts and souls together... there sora provided what was lacking to start the process of creating Kairi's nobody... Namine... That procedure allowed connecting his heart to naminee too while she was being born... which gave namine the power to have access to peoples hearts/memories... AT THE SAME TIME Sora's own nobody was created... Roxas... then when Kairi gave sora's heart back she went back to not being whole since she did not have the piece from where namine was created anymore... just as namine was incomplete since kairi did not completely lost herself and sora got his half back... So both Namine and Kairi are unstable beings... That being the reason why namine had to disappear for them both to become one whole being again... At the same time since Sora became a Heartless for such a short time... Roxas managed to be born... but the memories from sora did not manage to set in to the newly created roxas before going back to sora... Hence roxas was a memoryless nobody and Sora's memories had a hard time returning to sora after namine extracted them because of Roxas existence...

Sora does have a small amount of darkness, which is why he became a sentient Shadow heartless from turning the Keyblade "Dark Riku" aka Ansem Seeker of Darkness made from the other 6 princesses hearts on himself. Because his life as a heartless was so fleeting however, his Nobody didn't have time to gather Sora's memories and was basically a newborn with a blank slated mind. When Kairi's heart was returning to her body Namine was born in Castle Oblivion.

Also because of Kairi bringing Sora's body back with the power of her shining heart. He was basically a Pseudo-Heartless since Roxas was walking around with his real body. Sora became complete from absorbing Roxas. As a result of Roxas joining though Sora has become a lot more emotionally aggressive. You noticed throughout all his fighting I'm sure. DiZ to Roxas, "You should share some of that hatred with Sora, he's far too nice for his own good."

I'm so excited for you, I love watching you play this game series. I've got a special spot in my heart for the next entry Birth By Sleep. When I was a kid I only had the PS and only played KH 1 and 2. I was totally lost and because of stuff in life I fell off KH for a few years. BBS reignited my love of the series, it remains my personal favorite story.

To clarify something from the Secret Ansem Reports regarding Roxas and Namine: Both Roxas and Namine was created when Sora used the Keyblade of People's Hearts in KH1 to release his own heart along with Kairi's. Kairi's heart retuned to Kairi's body and soul while Sora's heart fell to darkness and became a Heartless. When Kairi brought Sora back, his heart, once a Heartless, transforms into Sora's human form, but he still lacked his real body and soul. Roxas and Namine has Sora's body and soul. In other words, when Sora's and Kairi's heart left Sora's body and soul, Sora's body and soul created two Nobodies, Roxas and Namine. Roxas possess half of Sora's body and soul while Namine possessed the other half of Sora's body and soul. Interesting Fact: When Roxas returned to Sora, his half of Sora's body and soul returned as well, but when Namine returned to Kairi, her half of Sora's body and soul went inside Kairi. A fact that is either forgotten or not well-known in the Kingdom Hearts community. A fact that even Nomura seems to ignore.

I'm glad somebody noticed that the pureblood heartless don't seem malicious. I noticed that even since the first game that the regular ones are hostile in a way, but they don't have that "evil" aspect to them. But the emblem heartless always seemed so much more aggressive. Even the weakest of them seemed so deliberate in what they were trying to do

He was banished to the same Realm of Darkness that Sora and Riku found themselves in after Xemnas was defeated. The same Realm of Darkness Mickey was in during the entirety of the first game, as well as Riku found himself in to close the Door with Sora. The same Realm of Darkness where Xemnas told Roxas that he had been to see Sora and that he looks a lot like Roxas. Its a popular place and there's a lot we've seen of it.

DiZ is refering to the fact that both Xehanort and Sora retained a sense of self as Heartless (remember Sora became a Shadow in KH1) There is an indirect connection though, the fact that Kairi shortly after restored Sora to a humanoid form meant that his Nobody Roxas had none of Sora's memories (as they remained with Sora's now humanoid heart), and that's why Roxas developed a sense of self seperate from Sora. In contrast, other Nobodies have the same sense of self as their original human forms i.e. Xemnas talks to Ansem the Wise just as if he was still his apprentice Xehanort. Additional thought: I think these reports suffer a bit from awkward translations in English too (the first US English translation even got the names of Ansem's apprentices wrong), and this ends up making honestly pretty simple concepts sound more difficult than they need to - but I appreciate you trying your best to understand anyway ^^

It didn't get to come up when you watched Days (it was mentioned in dialogue during gameplay) but only Emblem Heartless give out hearts that can be used to form Kingdom Hearts when defeated. Purebloods don't release any hearts. Never have, actually, even in the original game, CoM and this one. Still haven't even now, all the way up to 3. This was actually a mechanic in Days, as a Moogle shop was open to sell you items in exchange for Hearts taken from Emblem Heartless.

Ansem the Wise meant, that Naminé not only messed around with Soras memory, but also with people that knew him from Kingdom Hearts 1, like Leon, Yuffie, Kairi, Selphie, etc. They all say "that they remembered Sora again" in Kingdom Hearts 2

Re: Roxas and Namine: Basically, (kind of....?) his first theory about Namine being created when Kairi lost her heart was wrong, she still had her body, her heart was inside Sora. Sora, not knowing how to PROPERLY do what he was trying to do when he tried to free Kairi's heart from his body, accidentally freed his own too creating Roxas, BUT because Kairi's heart left Sora (who ISN'T a pure heart of light i.e "The Princesses of Heart"), her heart reacted to leaving Sora like any non-pure heart would. By spitting out a nobody. Personally i think Namine and Roxas were both created from the body of Sora, but molded by different hearts. Kinda like twins. but not really, but still.......sorta. I know that last sentence will anger some Roxas/Namine shippers. I mean....they're both blondes. I'm just trying to figure out if Sora was running around as a Sora-shaped heartless during the 2nd half of KH1 and COM....again, kinda....sorta....?
