If you're wondering how newly-awakened, 3-Heart Link is side-swiping all these Blights, it's not just the Royal weapons he snagged, look at his stats - all that food he dropped with Amiibo was to make that triple-attack boosting food, and he wolfed it down right before the cutscene for the first Blight.
@Nat_the_Chicken3 жыл бұрын
Royal Guard's Claymores and Bows and Edges of Duality certainly don't hurt though
@kuroser3533 жыл бұрын
I see you a bit confused, so I'll give you a quick explanation on why certain things work: 3:00 *Shrine of Resurrection Skip* This glitch works by abusing one funny quirk about the Sheikah Slate's scope. It puts Link facing the direction the camera was facing, which moves him quite a bit of distance if it happens to be a near 180º turn. Link clips through a very specific part of the corner that is thin enough for the scope turn to give him enough distance. The clip right after that to get back in bounds is abusing Link's height after he gets up. In a very specific spot, he can just clip out of the ground and go on with his life. 4:14 *Whistle sprinting* One of the many exploits in the game. By holding the whistle button and mashing the run button, Link starts running without using any stamina while regenerating any lost stamina. It's essentially running without using stamina. Usually requires to play with clawgrip to move the joystick and press the whistle button at the same time. 5:05 *Shield clipping* Since the tower hasn't been activated, you can't just enter a shrine normally, so you have to clip into it. By shield surfing and immediately ending it(Either by not having enough speed to shield surf or unequiping the shield) you get a "skew", which is a fancy way to say that Link is changing his body's angle quite fast. This quick turn allows Link to clip into walls that face the same direction as the slope that he shield surfed into 7:21 *It's not a glitch. That's an intended mechanic lmao* 7:36 *Bullet Time Bouncing* To keep the physics from behaving unaccurately(Ironic, I know), when you enter bullet time, the physics effects are multiplied. Bouncing on enemies' heads is something that you can do, but it only works on red or frozen enemies. By bouncing on an enemy during bullet time, you get launched at unbelievable speeds. 7:50 *Fall damage cancel* For some strange reason, if you throw a weapon and change any of your equipment with quick-swap(A shield or a weapon. Bows and runes don't work), the game treats Link as if he's grounded for a single frame, which is enough to reset the fall damage calculations. 10:28 *Swag strat* By abusing the same principle from before, you can jump, unequip the shield, and jump again. You have a single frame to do so, but it skips the shrine. 12:17 *Wind bombs* When two bombs are far enough from each other, the one you don't detonate gets launched. That bomb acts like any projectile, which, when combined with bullet time physics, can launch you into the stratosphere. 19:27 *Windblight skip* So... Have you ever noticed how the cutscenes play within the game engine? Yeah, objects that aren't needed for the cutscene just turn invisible, aren't affected by physics and can't despawn nor move. They conserve every other property. That includes damage dealt. By shooting exactly where the eye will be and not skipping the cutscene... Well, you saw what happened. Windblight gets obliterated before his cutscene ends *Ganon loop* I have no idea why that works

Clipping out of the shrine of resurrection and as a result skipping the cutscene that has Link looking over the massive landscape with the title card means that the clock with never start moving and there is no day/ night cycle. Its permanently 5:15 because they wanted that cutscene to be viewed with a very specific lighting. Always being the same time makes it so a few quests can't be completed or started. Tool assisted speedruns are an artform in themselves as long as they declared as tool-assisted. While they do not require good reflexes, it takes many more hours and lots of patience to create a pixel-perfect frame-by-frame speedrun. Most of these people make it a part of their livelyhood to get minimal viewership and an entirely arbitrary number on a scoreboard, and thats absolutely NOT an insult in any way. These people are just doing a labor of love for these games and what you see is the tip of the iceberg, their finished product. Anyone could do it, but many don’t dare to. Just wanna say I’m glad I came across your channel man. I actually found it after purchasing BOTW just about three weeks ago and getting back into Zelda. Awesome content.

13:14 that's a wind bomb, boomy zoomy, or bomb impact launch. Basically dropping a bomb, entering bullet time, dropping a second bomb, then detonating the first (make sure the bombs are aligned with Link). This launches you because the first bomb hits the second one into Link, launching him.

I don't believe he's a French player. Usually speedrunners pick a certain language to run the game in because it's slightly faster than the others (less text to skip past, shorter voice lines, etc.). IIRC, for BotW, that's French. BotW is a great example of a game with a lot of helpful glitches that can speed up play. The first one was escaping the Shrine of Resurrection by clipping through the wall. The downside of that is you're immediately thrust into a cold area of the game, but the biggest upside is that skipping the intro sequence freezes the time and weather effects of the game. So no night, no rain. The trick where he jumped through the side of the Shrine is called a skew clip .if you notice, he shield jumped on the side of the Shrine first before jumping through. That sets a "skew", where Link tilts a certain direction during shield jumps. If you time it right and in the right direction, that skew will push you through a wall if you jump towards it and shield jump. It's actually not too difficult a trick to do, as I did it myself in order to cheese the Trial of the Sword. He has to do it in order to get into the Shrines because he hasn't activated the Towers yet. The jumping off of Bokoblins is called a bullet time bounce. The game's physics are pretty broken during bullet time, which allows you to bounce wildly away at high speed if you shield jump onto a ragdolled enemy while in bullet time. Similarly, the windbomb technique lets you drop two bombs in succession (one round, one cubic) while in bullet time and explode the first one, knocking the second one into you and pushing you forward even faster than the bullet time bounce. The tree ride is something anyone can do. People were doing it within the first week of the game coming out. I'd recommend checking out speedrunning techniques on KZbin. A couple good ones to check out are Mety333 and Limcube. Very informative.

Point by point comment-commentary reaction/explanation to this whole video. I'll be explaining the gist of every trick I know and making banter remarks, along with time stamps. TL:DR Games are math putting on a puppet show and that math is held together with paper clips and chewing gum. Here we go. *Cracks metaphorical knuckles* 2:58 Slate clip. Exploits some odd physics properties of the character transitioning to the first person slate/map screen to push link through the wall. This also skips the opening cutscene, meaning the game's time and weather systems never activate. It's a fairly temperamental trick to perform. 3:14 Whistle sprinting. Running while whistling doesn't take stamina, lets your stamina regenerate, and is faster than walking. Albeit uncomfortable to do on the controller. 3:50 Ignoring the tower. This is a massive detour away from the closest shrine, but ignoring it means the shrine doors can't be opened, hence later tricks. 5:00 Tilt clip. Link's shield surf animation transition it a bit wacky, when you enter that animation, link's model sometimes flips to a "tilt" angle, and if that puts his feet on the other side of a wall, they stay there, and so the rest of him does too. (First shield bounds sets the tilt angle using part of the shrine, second roll has the wacky frame that clips through it) 5:06 The interact option for the elevator extends through the shrine floor, so you don't actually need to clip back in. After all, the walls in this game are "Backface solid", so you can't just walk back into bounds. 6:14 Shield jump. Fun fact that most people miss, link can double jump in this game by transitioning into a shield surf at the peak of his running jump. You get a lot of distance and height form it. 6:37 This is typical game event flag jank. That cut-scene plays any time you beat your first shrine, whether you're spoken to the king or not. If you had to speak to him first, it's possible you may never actually get the paraglider from him at all, even in normal gameplay, so it's fairly normal to favor function over continuity in game design. Video games are just choreographed numbers after all. 7:20 Stasis fling. Admit it, most of us tried and failed to do this when we got stasis, then limped away when we couldn't make it work. 7:31 Bullet-time bounce. Bonking off a bokoblin while simultaneously ending aerial-archery bullet-time causes the physics to screw up the amount of speed you get from it. As a result; YEET. 7:47 Fall damage cancel. Ling can't take fall damage if the game thinks he's on the ground already. For whatever reason, throwing and unequipped a weapon in rapid succession (so fast you never actually throw it) makes the game treat link as though he were on the ground, thus, ignoring any fall damage. This one is tricky because it's got a narrow time window for it to work. 9:35 Another tilt clip, again, because the shrine doors are locked. But this is a speedrun, so walls are just a suggestion. 9:55 Most of the devs pain is down to the animators and the physics library, as is the case with most speedruns. No code went into that door. Just 2 slightly different models, and one animation to ease the transition between them. 10:26 More shield jumping. Remember how a tilt clip puts link wherever his feet wind up? Same deal here. Feet on top of rail? Well then Link on top of rail now. 10:32 Shield bounce. More physics jank. Link's shield surfing physics combined with how fast cryonis pops up makes it work like a bit of a catapult. 11:01 Another bullet time bounce. I guess it's worth pointing out that they look up so there's less stuff on screen for the game to load, so they fly faster. You can SEE when the game freezes to load. 11:28 Failed fall damage cancel, but another good display of character states. Link's movement is massively hampered while trying to throw something, so he basically stops dead in place and just drops. 11:32 Another tilt clip. Nothing really to explain here. 12:12 Bomb launch. Pretty simple concept. Drop one bomb, jump, drop the other midair, then explode the first. The second bomb gets yeeted into you and sends you flying at cannon speeds. Most painful form of commute. 13:14 See previous note. 13:26 Another Stasis bounce. Long story short, they do all these yeet tricks because walking is really slow, and yeeting is fast. 13:43 This is what happens when you give people 4 years with the 4th of which being mandatorally too much free time due to a global pandemic. Someone will eventually compile every known glitch and trick and beat a game in ways purely not intended, and that's what speedrunning has always need. So yeah, it kind of IS bulls***. Fortunately things kind of even off from here on. Other than the yeet marathon that is hyrule field. 14:33 Sanity pringles. 15:34 Another bullet time bounce. I mean, imagine being that bokoblin. Guarding that door for DECADES, then some asshole you didn't even know *existed* whistles at you, whiffs a bow shot, then rockets into space off your forehead. Talk about getting dunked on. 16:00 The fact that this game LETS you just face the final boss immediately, buck naked and unarmed is a testament to how outside the established formula, and better for it, this game is. 16:30 Behold the glory of hyrule castles interior in all it's not-quite-fully-loaded-yet splendor. 16:51 Game finally realized he was in hyrule castle and loaded the area far enough to play the cutscene. 17:06 The amiibo don't give you anything you couldn't find an equivalent of in the castle as is, and as a result, they're a "fair" alternative, with a few exceptions to go out of their way for anyway. 17:30 Not sure if this has a technical name, but taking the weapon out repeatedly works the same as whistle sprinting. Running without using stamina. 17:55 DISTRACTION BOMB! (Backstab) 18:11 Another slate clip, this time FULLY out of bounds. They use this instead of a tilt clip because there's nowhere nearby to get the correct tilt angle from, like how they used the shrine walls before. The castle is very... angular. 18:18 Another Bomb launch. The fact that you can do these easily midair so long as you have the HP means they're an EXTREMELY versatile way to yeet around. 18:26 Getting back in bounds far enough to stand on the ground, but not so much they'd need to clip back out again. A fairly common tactic across many games that use out-of-bounds movement. 18:36 Here's what I meant when I said you have to clip back into bounds. The pile of rocks they're in is solid from the inside too, so they can't just walk out of it. However, yet more animation physics jank to the rescue. Link ignores collision with the rocks while standing up, then steps up onto the rocks the moment he starts walking. 18:42 DISTRACTION BOMB 2! Whistling boogaloo. (Backstab) 19:06 HE NEED SOME MILK! 19:17 Bomb launch escape. Never assume a speedrunner is screwed. That's like assuming a squirrel is "calm". 19:27 Preemptive shot. He fired the arroe into where Winblight's face was going to be, timed PERFECTLY to put it right in the crit spot. Entities like enemies and projectiles (that arrow) persist through cutscenes, and the game logic still runs during that time (hence Windblight twitching like that) but becuase the game is in a cutscene, it won't let the arrow despawn. As a result, Windblight spawns in and instantly gets blasted, because that arrow is hitting him EVERY. SINGLE. FRAME. One arrow hitting like several hundred. 21:45 Double hits. This is why they grabbed a bunch of heavy weapons. The spins can hit more than once if you hit different parts of an enemy. This is like hitting both of a Hinox's legs. It makes the damage output SKYROCKET, but also breaks your weapons fast. Hence ditching the lumber axe earlier. 22:37 Stunlock. Do I really need to explain this? Enemies in this game have a set amount of damage they can put up with in a short time before they get knocked down. The attack up buff he has, combined with the SINGLE HIGHEST DAMAGE WEAPON IN THE GAME, makes short work of Foreblight's stun buffer. Which is good because fireblight is an asshole. 23:43 Thunderblight is honestly the most vanilla fight out of all of these. Thrown weapons break his shield instantly and deal a lot of damage, but that's a normal gameplay thing. 25:51 More double hits. These are really effective here and you can even triple hit CG if you're in the right spot. 25:32 CG Stunclock. You can actually break that barrier if you burn through CG's stun damage buffer fast enough. That's why parrying a laser back at him breaks it. Those do enough damage to stun him. 26:10 The horse's name is "plot convenience". 31:04 Speedrunning in general is a fever dream, any characters controlled by speedrunners are simultaneously on all the drugs, and any characters watching them instantly realize their reality is a stageplay only there to humor the whims of this super-powered uncontrollable lunatic.

Windblight skip hurts my brain too. The Blight spawns with the arrow inside it and takes MASSIVE damage, helped with the meal Link just ate. All the hops that happened when Link came in the room are to exactly line up with the pixel-perfect shot you need to take to pull it off (and have the cut scene trigger when the arrow is in the right spot). It dies as soon as the fight starts.
@skyemoore4283 жыл бұрын
5:03 that was skew clipping. Basically, sheild surfing onto a slope "resets" Links default position. So sheild surfing then unequipping your sheild midair snaps Link to the side. Sheild surfing towards the shrine then unequipping your shield snaps Link to the side then snaps him back to normal, pushing him into the shrine. You can see that at 6:13, when he sheild surfs and unequipped his sheild, he snapped to the side really fast. That's skew. I recommend checking out a video by Kleric to learn more.
