If you liked Andrej there is a part in the book 'Blood and Fire' that he and Grimaldus talk again,it goes like this: ‘Vox link established,’ came the bridge servitor’s voice. Using the Eternal Crusader’s communications array had been the only way to amplify my transmitter’s signal. A hololithic avatar started to form, ghostly blue, above my palm. Grimaldus: ‘Colonel Ryken,’ I greeted the flickering image. Andrej : ‘That is not the case,’ the hololithic ghost replied, in a voice husky with flawed vox. Details of the soldier started to drift into resolution. It was not Colonel Ryken - as if the man’s reply had not revealed that already. ‘This link is not so good, eh? I have no visual feed. Also, forgiveness please, but Colonel Ryken is away doing other soldierly things. He is not here. He is gone.’ I took a breath, inwardly counselling myself to be patient. Grimaldus: ‘I need to speak with him at once.’ Andrej : ‘As do I, I assure you, for the colonel owes me money. A serious matter, yes? If he dies before paying me back, my temper will be terrible to behold. I am Captain Andrej Valatok of the Legion. How may I be of serving use to you?’ Grimaldus: ‘Have your adepts relay this signal to-’ Andrej : ‘What is wrong with this vox link? Mountain bears growl less than you, I am thinking. You sound like a Space Marine.’ Grimaldus: ‘I am a Space Marine.’ Andrej : ‘Aha! I am, if not good friends, then at least well acquainted with Reclusiarch Grimaldus of the Black Templars. The Hero of Helsreach, you know? I saved his life one time. He even thanked me.’ Grimaldus: ‘Andrej,’ I replied, making every letter a slow threat. ‘This is Reclusiarch Grimaldus.’ Andrej : ‘Hail, Reclusiarch! You sound angry.’

Yeah. But I saw this masterpiece from different angle. When I watched it first time I cant understand why first quarter of movie was so primitive and ascetic while at second quarter it looks more comlex and detailed in comparison. Yeah, definitely there is nuances with resourses and skill, but on my opinion he doesnt even try. After watching it second time I was enlightened. Its a book!!! When you start reading book you cant understand what you must imagine. And this understanding came to you while you reading. And while you finishing book after main events you mostly loosing all details because you have great emotions. Abstract and uncertain > understanding and shaped > overall and straightforward > reflection and abstrac. Autor not only cut graphics because of lacking he did that like he reading book for us. Intentionally or not. Also, primitive graphic steals most of full scale scenes like hive city or orks fleet. We have almost no detiled terrain, fog and walls is all what surround our characters. It was perfect. White and black abstract scenes of industrial city almost perfect. For my taste this part must be more monumental and and have more scale. But in reality its real masterpiece.

@Brutalyte61623 күн бұрын
No, it's perfectly understandable. The idea of something as large as a Titan moving around, plus the implications of such a weapon of war, which is that the Titan was created to fight something that only a Titan could fight, is difficult for the human mind to process in person, as the gravity of it all doesn't really set in until you're there, watching a skyscraper walk around, shaking the planet beneath your feet and deafening everyone for miles with the sounds of its war cry and weapons. It's quite common for Guardsmen deployed near Titans to go into fits of hysteria and madness as a result of this, so much so that the phenomenon actually has an accepted name in the lore: Titanshock. Similarly, there is another phenomenon called Post-Human Dread, whereby the human mind has difficulty accepting what augmented soldiers like the Adeptus Astartes, or other superhuman creatures are able to do. The phrase 'Nothing that big should be able to move that fast.' comes up fairly regularly in that regard, and Astartes combat doctrine actually relies on Post-Human Dread as a foundation of its shock and awe tactics; a second of hesitation as a heavy gunner's breath hitches at seeing an 8-foot tall humanoid tank sprinting at the speed of a car towards them is a perfect example of low-grade Post-Human Dread.

12:03 Jurisian would occasionally pause and examine some of the Mechanicus’s abandoned technology. ‘This is a magnetic field stabiliser housing,’ he said at one point, walking around what looked to Cyria like an oversized tank engine as big as a Chimera APC. ‘What does it do?’ she made the mistake of asking. ‘It houses the stabilisers for a magnetic field generator.’ Her fear of the Astartes had dimmed some way by this point. She fought the urge to sigh, but failed. ‘Do you mean,’ Jurisian enquired, ‘what application does this have in Imperial technology?’ ‘That’s close to what I meant, yes. What is its purpose?’ ‘Magnetic fields of significant size and intensity are difficult to create and a struggle to maintain. Many of these units would be required to work in synchronicity, stabilising a powerful field of magnetic force. Such standard constructs as this housing are used in anti-gravitational technology, much of which is kept sealed by Mechanicus secrecy. More commonly, the Imperial Navy would use these units in the construction and maintenance of starship-sized magnetic accelerator rings. Plasma weapon technology, on a grand scale.’

The underlying 3d models haven't changed from the first episode, or the animating of those models, Boylan just shifted the overlay filters as the story progresses from that very heavy B/W juddery one, to something less jarring. I'm not sure if he planned it all along, or started toning it back after feedback, but he ended up using that shift to represent Grimaldus' state of mind...from feeling purposeless and disconnected after losing his mentor, everything washed out and b/w to then becoming engaged and filled with purpose, when the colour starts ramping up in saturation...to empty again (but less than in the first episodes) after losing so much again at the end

Orks absolutely have Titans. They're known as Gargants, and they're constructed as idols to the Orks' gods, Gork (who is cunningly brutal) and Mork (who is brutally cunning). Whenever a large enough group of Orks get together and start getting restless, the Mekboyz - Ork engineers and scientists - start having dreams that lead them to start building Gargants, whether the regular ones, the larger Great Gargants, or the colossal Mega-Gargants, which are similar in size to an Imperator Titan like Storm Herald. During the Third War for Armageddon, the Orks deployed over a hundred Gargants of various sizes, classes, and configurations to the planet.

The quality/amount of color in Helsreach mirrors Grimaldus's emotional state. At the beginning of the story, Grimaldus is struggling with depression and survivors guilt and so the animation is very black and white. As the story progresses and he begins to move past his guilt, the animation gains clarity and color is introduced. By the climax, Grimaldus has come to terms with his grief and the animation reflects this; but then his squad is killed in front of him, the depression and survivors guilt returnand the animation returns to back and white to showcase this. I prefer the interpretation of the general mood of the final, heart-wrenching last stand within the temple in the Helsreach fan-made movie than the novel. In the novel, in true Templar fashion, there's almost a sort of insane levity, what with Artarion laughing his final words and Grimaldus echoing that. I can see why people would approve of either interpretation, but I prefer the movie's. The tone is far more somber and heart-breaking, as it should be, I think. The Black Templars are known for the incredible zealotry that most rears its head in moments that would make most consider a retreat. Their attrition rates are atrociously high. Dying gloriously on the field of battle, against overwhelming odds is seen as the highest honor...as it should be. I feel sometimes it's portrayed with almost too much levity, though. The Helsreach movie did it right; it showed us something far more somber. It showed us that even amongst warriors who see a violent death as an inevitability, who feel no fear, who seek to burn twice as brightly still experience the pain of loss...and it is crushing. Not only that, the deaths of squad Grimaldus all showed their true, beautiful and terribly honest, colors at the end. Nero, a competent apothecary and warrior no doubt, was far more prone to outbursts of emotion, especially grief. Amongst Templars, one might call him soft...I think he was simply the most human. Within meek, gentle Nerovar beat the heart of defiance; as he was hoisted onto a spear by his midriff, he pulled himself down lower upon the spear whilst still being impaled...and for what purpose? So that, in a final act of defiance and raw courage, he could stab his killer and take him down with him. In his final moments, we see gentle Nero shine brighter than all as a true warrior. For such a death Bell of Lost Souls upon Holly Terra will rang and the Emperor drop a single tear, embracing another soul of His finest. Priamus was young, proud, haughty, and immensely talented. Quick to anger, quick to misinterpret. Proud to a fault, he refused to show weakness; arrogance was his default trait, though it did not come from a place of malice. In his final moments, the overwhelming pain of missing a limb, amongst a myriad of other injuries, finally showed in his voice. It was heart-wrenching. "They're bringing the temple down!" is said with such desperation, yet he continues to fight. The implacable pain of witnessing the brutalizing of his battle-brother Nerovar and the futility of trying to save him is palpable in his delivery when he cries "Nero!" Not least though, is when Priamus, finally succumbing to fatigue, takes a blow across his face and falls to his knees. In his final moments, proud and boastful Priamus looks towards his brother-chaplain and says "Grimaldus...brother." with such pain and trembling voice, the rest of the scene I watched through blurred vision. In his final moments, despite being a zealous Templar, despite knowing he would die violently, despite a lifetime of battle, despite knowing that his death in glorious battle would earn him a place beside the Emperor of mankind...he wished only for the comfort and presence of one of his brothers. He did so much, yet so little. He didn't want to die alone. None shall find him wanting. Artarion...dependable, sturdy Artarion. I don't have nearly as much to say, but it doesn't soften the blow any less. Banner bearer of Squad Grimaldus. Stalwart. Gruff. A pillar of strength, to be sure. In his final moment, before decapitation, he looked towards his brother, Grimaldus, and somberly said goodbye. He was going towards the Emperor's light, he was saved...his honor and his memory intact. He was to die a warrior's glorious death against impossible odds; this is akin to the holy grail, practically, for Black Templars. Yet, still, in his final moments, he laments having to be separated in life from his brother. The sheer weight of loss sets itself upon him so solidly, he cannot hide it when he says "Goodbye, brother." Perhaps he knew. Perhaps he knew that he alone would die and Grimaldus would live. Maybe his deep, audible pain was in knowing, in feeling that somehow Grimaldus would live. That wherever Artarion was going now, in the afterlife, Grimaldus will not follow...not for an agonizingly long time. And so he grieved because he would miss his brother, simply put, and Grimaldus would miss him. How soberingly human. Were I Grimaldus, I don't think I would have wanted to survive, either. The pain of living through that may very well dwarf whatever temporary pain he would have felt from death. The final guilt of living, he must bear it like a mantle, like a scar on his heart - until the Emperor call his soul too. "The Hero of Helsreach...as if there was only one." - none could say better.

The last stand at the temple hits like a hammer every time. The aftermath, with Andre and the empty Thunderhawk are bittersweet reminders of what was lost. Helsreach is a perfect example that 40k is the story of The Long Defeat of humanity, not its triumph. And it hurts. So much is lost, and yet to be lost - but it will one day be lost. In 40k, Humanity as a whole fights for just one more day. But the last day will dawn, and those bright moments that came to that point will be lost. Helsreach reminds you of that, in what you mourn. So, don't be ashamed of that emotion. Its the whole point.

These are three of the four Titan classes the final being the Reaver class which is not shown in Helsreach. Also for more clarification a dreadnought is specifically from a chapter meaning whenever you see one they will have their chapter's iconography on them. And they're probably two and a half Space Marines tall. They're not that large when put right next to a Titan.

1:08:29 the Order of the Argent Shroud is my favorite order of sisters. Their whole stick is that they are shock troops who move in quickly with overwhelming firepower, and fight in complete silence. They unitize transports such as Rhinos, Immolators (tanks with stained glass turrets such as heavy flamers, multi-Meltas, and heavy bolters), and Repressors( Up armored Rhinos with heavy flamers and a siege shield) to rush across the battlefield. Most iconic units being Seraphim, sisters with jump packs that duel wield bolt pistols, hand flamers, or inferno pistols( Melta pistols)and Dominions whom are battle sisters with special weapons such as Storm Bolters( two boltguns strapped together), Flamers, and Melta Guns. Their patron Saint, Silvana was one of Alicia Dominica’s bodyguards back when the church had a corrupt Ecclesiarch. They fought against multiple space marine chapters to a stand still until the Custodes intervened and convinced the sisters that their Ecclesiarch was corrupt. Which then lead to Dominica executing him. Btw please react to If The Emperor Had a Text-To-Speech Device cause they show this bit and it’s 100% word for word what happened. Afterwards Silvana would die before starting a crusade. Her body covered in a silver veil until one day her body disappeared, leaving only her veil with an imprint of herself. This is where the name of the order, the Argent Shroud, gets its name. TLDR Silvana started her own order, The Argent Shroud, with their main idea being “Deeds are louder then words,” as they will fight in complete silence until the mission is complete with overwhelming force.

As many has said, the animation is related to clarity of memory and also depression. Fun facts. The Chapter at the start with wolf symbol isnt the Space wolfs, is the shadow wolfs chapter. This chapter only appears in this book and the reason behind this is that the wife of Aaron, the writter, at that time was reading about the Luna Wolfs and Sons of Horus legion, and she loved the Luna wolfs and its loyalty, Aaron being the gentleman he is, created the Shadow Wolfs specialy for his wife as a love letter to her. The couple that kissed, both survived the battle. Andre lived enough to see once again Grimaldus and be funny and friendly towards him. I another part of the war, Grimaldus fought along side the last meme er of another Chapter, Ekebe Dubaku from the Celestial Lions, they are like african culture in a way. Oberon is an ordinance destined to the world of Armaggedon for its defense, was urried and forgotten because never recived the sanction of the ad. Mech. making it almost Heresy and traitorous in a way its usage. All important words have a ordinance like this but they vchange in a way, they are handcrated for that specific world. The pilot of the Thunderhawk is none other than the youtuber/streamer Chapter Master Valrak.

There are animated series by Games Workshop. They have multiple Warhammer series but I recommend watching their three episode mini series called Pariah Nexus and The Tithes.

Hi there ! Someon already told you in another comment under the previous episodes but the animation style variations is voluntary : the further we are from the time of narration, the sketchier and blurrier it is, as in Grimaldus' memories. When we are at present time, at the very moment the action takes place, or a more vivid memory (some memories are clearer than others even though they are further back in time), the animation is more precise, more coloured and more acurate ;) So in the end, when Grimaldus recollects an old memory, it gets sketchy again ;)
@eXpriest24 күн бұрын
I,was told that it doesn't reflect his memory but his attitude, in the beginning he's dealing with the death of his mentor and his belief that he'll never measure up to mordred, then it gets clearer as he hits his stride and starts winning little victories, then at the end he's wracked with survivors guilt and returning doubt.
@antoinebeaulieu201723 күн бұрын
@@eXpriest Aaah, interresting ! It could be I suppose. But one is not incompatible with the other : we could say that his most traumatic memories, wether they be old or recent, are represented by the rougher sketchy look. And there is also the fact that some sequences are shown from another person's PoV and he is not even present (Storm Herald's fall for instance), so theses sequences are portrayed in a more "neutral" style...

1:09:40 Not a dreadnought. Dreadnoughts are the entombed astartes mechs you saw in Space Marine 2, and they only reach 2-3 times the height of a Space Marine. Then you have mechs like Imperial Knights, which work like titans but on a smaller scale with only one pilot. These range at heights between small and medium buildings. What you see at this point in the movie is a Warhound Titan, which is one of the "smallest" mechs to classify as a Titan. Faster and more agile than larger titan classes, they usually operate in "packs" or supporting larger Titans that are vulnerable to flanking. Warhounds are roughly double the height of Imperial Knights.

Something really cool to note about Grimaldus' tabletop model is that the servitors with him are carrying relics from his final battle in Helsreach. One of them is even carrying part of the temple itself. XD

While regular 40K is 28mm (approx the height of a standard human model) the lore and background for Armageddon is closely linked with Epic, the 6mm version of the game. The Ordinatus (there are many types) appeared in Epic around 20 years ago, which is why the model pic is..... a bit dated, plus, it's 6mm scale. The third war for Armageddon, Commissar Yarrik, etc is the backdrop for the 4th edition of Epic, Epic Armageddon.

at the beginning of the show, grimaldus said he would die on hellsreach, as the story progressed the animation became better and better to show he truly began to change and care about the people who in the beginning he wanted nothing to deal with and after he survive in the end it all return as it started. Grimaldus was right, he died in that planet and came out as another person

Not a video recommendation, but if you want to see brotherhood on the chaos side of things, I recommend reading or listening to "The Talon of Horus" and "Black Legion" also by Aaron Dempski-Bowden, they cover the founding of the Black Legion and the ideas surrounding Astartes rejecting the concepts of the Emperor and even their own Primarchs.

If you want more, watch Angels of Death. Same people who did Helsreach, except with more budget, runs on Unreal engine instead of Source FIlm Maker, and multiple voice actors (the one who did Grimaldus also voices the Blood Angel chaplain), animation is still about the same in how rough it looks but the voice acting is *chefs kiss* and the story is still pretty interesting. Unfortunately its only available on WarhammerTV, along with some other Warhammer animations, but its not too expensive and you can binge watch all the shows in a month, if you plan on doing one month full of Warhammer stuff.

So to go over some small things which the animation doesn’t but also helps for context. 1. The Armageddon Steel Legion (the lads in the gas masks and trenchcoats) are the local imperial guard regiments of Armageddon. They are well known for being one of the few trusted planets allowed to create combined arms regiments within the guard and they are also extremely well known for their mechanised warfare formations - mostly using chimera’s. If you want an idea of how mechanised specialised these lads are, during both the second and third wars, when the factory’s that produce the local brand of chimera were invaded by orks they were actually mounting them up and using them inside the factory’s as they came off the production line. And how large are these factory’s? They would have known artillery duels within them. Yes artillery duels would be fought inside these places. - note Andrey is a Steel Legion Elite which are Elite Storm Trooper formation created by taking a mix of high level veterans and troopers from regiments across the world as well as schola cadets. These guys are known as Stormtroopers and are essentially the Elite of the Imperial Guard. 2. If you wish to known about Hades Hive look up the 2nd War for Armageddon. But in short, after the local governor of the planet completely screwed up its defence early on in the 2nd and got that majority of his loyal troops butchered at the Hemlock river, Yarrick essentially blocked him out and took mostly direct control of the guard forces he could and focused them around Hades Hive, completely stalling the Ork invasion there and refusing to let the city fall. As such when the Astartes elements finally arrived to relieve them, Hades Hive became the great place of the Orks first failed invasion and Gazgul knew this as such destroyed it early during the 3rd War to prevent its use to Yarrick and as a symbol of morale to the people. - if you want to known what happened to that governor. Let’s just say he comes back in the third… to help the orks, but his fate is left up to the Last Chancers (good set of books to read, essentially the Imperial Guard version of the Dirty Dozen) 3. You actually semi-seemed to understand/catch what was happening with Princepts Zarhar before and when she was claimed but I can illuminate more. A princepts besides essentially being the primary human pilot of the Titan with the moderati helping managed and coordinate the titans systems with her own actions, the Princepts essentially is more than just the pilot, they essentially become the titans second soul. Like the Mechanicus likes to say, the Machine Spirit is an actual thing, and when a Princepts melds themselves with a Titan for the first time they are essentially melding themselves with the soul of said Titan (alongside the soul of every other burned up princepts before them). They are essentially the human element that helps keep the titans own soul from completely doing what it wants. And that is how Princepts die. As the Titan and them age they are essentially fighting a battle of domination, and sadly the titans machine spirit has much more life to it than its human competitors. As such over time the Titans own soul will slowly consume the Princepts throughout the years and battles, each scar ever bonding them closer together until eventually…. The Titan just takes that last bit. Most moderati and operators of a Titan will understand when its starting to get worse and happen, as like shown the blend of the Princepts and machine start becoming very notable and indistinguishable - and as even noted, sometimes the Princepts isn’t even in control always, sometimes the machine takes control too especially after/during extended battle and campaigns of heavy fighting, going berserk itself against the enemies fighting it as if an animal unleashed. Sometimes a Princepts can wrestle back control after such an event, with the Machine Spirits own blood craving satisfied. However, a lot of the time this is when a Princepts will be lost and usually the Titan too as they will usually be lost in such battles. - and yes Grimaldus essentially called Zarhar back from the dead. 4. So Ork titans come in a few classifications like the Imperiums but much simpler too. Their mini-titans in equivalent to imperium super heavy tanks like the baneblade or around the size/strength of a war hound scout titan (the baby one you saw) are known simply as Stompa’s. The larger ones above that on equal with Riever and Warlord Titans are known as Gargants. And the big one you saw fighting Stormhearld, a Super Gargant. As for how do they make them. Well as you saw in episodes 6 and 7 orks don’t land troops on the planet in nice and orderly fashion. Nope they just crash said ships onto surface. Yes a few millions orks die. But they’ll get than back by tomorrow. However, said strap from said ships can now be used to create all the vehicles and machine shops and equipment orks would need for a war by their mek-boys. And as you properly known/have heard, orks don’t need stuff to run for it to run. If they believe it works it works. 4.5. When it comes to the Titan Legions there are essentially 4 main types of titans and a couple more specialist ones I can’t remember. But the main 4 are: Warhound Titan - scout titans. Will work in pairs and will usually help to either support larger titans within the legion or will be used to scout for enemy Titan formations ahead of the larger ones. Warhound are usually also the most numerous amongst a legion. Think 2 of them for every Reiver Titan Riever Titans - the middle ground between the Warlord and Warhound. Best could be dear as the trooper Titan. Essentially your basic line Titan. More numerous than others, think 1 of these for ever 2 warhounds. Warlord Titan - a proper good war titan. These are heavily armed and quite bulky and pack a punch and can take one. Not as rare as Emperator Titans but also quite rare themselves. Think one of these for every 2-3 Reiver Titans. Emperator Titans - the largest and most powerful of all Titans. They come in many different shapes and forms but all of them are extremely powerful. To have one within a legion is quite the statement. You will usually find maybe 1 Emperator Titan for every 3-4 Warlord Titans in a Legion. Maybe. - and to note when it came to Zarhar herself portion of her own legion, I think it’s noted she had around 25-28 titans at the start. When they left they had around 5-6 left.

Ork titans are referred to as Gargants and are gigantic piles of cobbled together scrap that make even imperial titans look small. Look up the "big 'ed bossbunka" which is an actual model GW sells - that is, for all intents and purposes, the head of an Ork gargant, and it is the size of a building just by itself, it's used ingame as a fortification/terrain piece.

Helsreach is a great story. If you want some further insight into the character of the space marines, I would recommend two books, Dante and then Devastation of Baal, both by Guy Haley. And ofcourse, pretty much anything from Dan Abnett. You could also check out some of the official works, on warhammer plus. Angels of Death, Pariah Nexus, The Tithes. All are pretty decent.

And by the way, no, it was not a dreadnought : it was a Warhound Reconnaissance Titan. The smallest class of Titans, bigger than Imperial Knights, and so much bigger than dreadnoughts. Operated by three crew (one princeps, a moderati and a helmsman typically) and maintained by one techpriest and a few servitors in the back section. ;)

If you looks at the Thunderhawk in Space Marine 2, the dual heavy bolter turret on the wing has "No Pity! No Remorse!" written on it. which is a Black templar thing, not an Ultramarines thing 😉 "No Pity! No Remorse! No Fear!" as Grimaldus shouts in the final fight. The black and white hazy animation in the first episodes is meant to represent the boring and colorless life of Black Templars when they are not at war. as the fight starts, color and beauty start showing, and it becomes clearer and more beautiful as the warriors do what they are meant to do... Fight and Die for the Emperor. that's also why it returns to black & white haziness when the fight is done.

Okay this is the third time I'm commenting this (and hopefully you see this a thirs time because you've hearted the first two But GW does do official animations. It kinda ticked me off when you asked why GW doesnt do official animations when I commented it two times (and you hearted both) Here are official animations from Warhammer, literal shows or short films, they're all.on Warhammertv. Please react to them because they're good 1. The Exodite - 3 episodes, T'au PoV fighting against Imperial Guard, Imperial Titans, and Aeldari (Best Writing imo) 2. Iron Within - 1 episode, Imperial Guard and Iron Warriors vs Drukhari 3. Pariah Nexus - 3 episodesm, Sororitas, Imperial Guard, Salamanders, Ultramarines, vs Necrons (Great Animation) 4. Broken Lance - 1 episode Imperial Knights vs Chaos Knights and Chaos Daemons 5. The Tithes - 3 episode anthology, Salamanders, Ultramarines vs Necrons, Custodes, Arbites, Sisters of Silence, Space Marines vs Tyranids, Imperial Guard, Aeronautica vs Orks. (Best Animation so far) 6. Angels of Death - 13 episodes, follows a group of Blood Angels 7. Hammer and Bolter - haven't watched it but it's an anthology with both Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k episodes. Now pleasr put this on a notepad so ypu dont forget again
