It's a video about cancer, medical negligence, discrimination and rude staff during what could have been a life or death situation, it can't be negative. It's only true. I immediately loved this because it was someone with cancer being normal for once and not trying to act all "positive". I haven't saw your other videos but I hope you just keep being real.

@@francisjohnson665 being positive doesn't do anything. Stop shaming people. If you want positive go watch my little pony or something and leave real life to the rest of us. Being forced to be positive through shaming (if it's not happening naturally) is actually extremely harmful for people's mental health.

As a nurse, and stage 4 colon cancer patient, at the age of 30, i want to thank you for sharing your story. Advocating for yourself can be impossibly difficult, especially when your nurses, whose number 1 job is to advocate for their patients, don’t seem to be on your side. Never stop standing up for yourself! You’re an inspiration, truly.

You did not deserve that treatment. I am so sorry. Stay strong. Your story, about the chest pain, spurred me to do a self exam where I found a lump which turned out to be cancer. My biopsy results came in today. I have breast cancer. Your story is not at all negative and may have saved my life. Many thanks.

Your story had me in tears. My dad was diagnosed with stomach cancer this past week, we are starting treatment in a few days chemo/radiation and he will be going for surgery - my mom passed away 3 years ago from Lupus complications so I am his primary caregiver and I know what is to come. To make matters worse my husband has been sick, it took me calling our doctors repeatedly telling them something is very wrong with him. They are finally going to check him for bowel cancer. He has every classic sign (blood in every movement and lots of it, extreme fatigue, bloating, cramping, anemic) and I just know in my heart something is really wrong. I am devastated but trying to hold it together for our daughter, him and my dad. I just wanted to say that you are so brave and you look so radiant. There is something about people battling cancer that they glow, something about cancer changes them for the good. You are beautiful - seriously

And my husband is now stage 4 too. 😪 it spread to his lung, they removed the nodule - tested positive for rectal cancer, and another one grew. Its attached to his hilar lymph node in his thorax so they cannot remove it. Weve been trying to do house renos to bring our house up in value so when the inevitable happens if I have to sell the house I'll make alot of money from it. I also had a rapidly growing unilateral lump and my OBGYN rapidly took action. I start chemo in 2 weeks- waiting for insurance authorization and port placement. My breast cancer story is sooooo similar to yours. I too was having chest pain that felt like a heart attack day after day, with it being worst at night, and I was doctoring for that when one day I was watching tv and found the lump on my breast under my underarm. I ended up doing an echo and 48 hour heart monitor that showed my heart rate running extremely high at all times. I did get clearance from the cardiologist to have my double mastectomy and when I was leaving that appt, he did say he’s had people with cancer have heart issues that resolve once the cancer is gone. After my surgery, guess what, no more heart palpitations and chest pain. It was simply my body trying to tell me something was wrong. Ours bodies are amazing and we have to be our own advocate in regards to our health. The dr that I initially saw told me my lump was mostly nothing due to my age etc (I was 36). She told me to just wait and see if it grows, thank God my mom wouldn’t let me brush it off because I would’ve just listened to that dr and waited. Thank you for sharing your story ♥️

As much as a crap show my home country, The USA, has become in 2020, I can say that I am grateful that at least getting medical needs met in a timely matter is something I haven't had to worry about (or at least that has been my personal experience). I have been listening to stories like yours in recent days and I cannot believe how many say it was so challenging to get the help they needed. It is so hard to hear and breaks my heart. My 14 year old daughter was diagnosed with Cancer December 14th, 2020. We got in the same day and our GP found it right away and it a rare form, Ewings Sarcoma. We were then referred to and seeing an expert the next morning and her medical team has been nothing short of amazing! Blessings to everyone battling cancer. I do hope the system for the urgent care of these things can get better.

I went in for a regular mammogram, my Doctor called and said they saw a shadow on my film. Went back. Had 6 more mammograms, same day , plus an ultrasound . All were inconclusive. Next day biopsy . Dr called and said you have cancer . I said , Oh shit. Had surgery next week , 33 radiation treatments and chemo pills for two and a half years. Supposed to take them for five but, i just quit because of , in my opinion, unbearable side effects. My doctor told me later that he'd never had the Oh shit reaction from anyone, and he knew then that I'd do fine . My mother died from breast cancer at 55. She was diagnosed at 44 . I'm a 10 year survivor. It's called life , we can't go around it , have to go through it. Hope the lady in the video is doing good.

I’ve watched all of your videos and just want to say how beautiful and what an inspiration you are. Your strength is something I admire so greatly. I’m 28 and have had issues for months. After being dismissed by my GP twice because I’m “too young”. I finally received a referral to a breast clinic. Appointment is still a month out even after basically begging to be seen. It’s so frightening knowing that something is off and having no one believe you thinking your just too young. I lost my mother 2 years ago to Metastatic breast cancer which makes all of this all even more terrifying, but watching you and all you’ve gone through makes me think that no matter what comes my way I can fight it. I had no trouble getting whatever test I needed and In fact appointments are quick. The one lesson i took in your heart felt video, is the need to be persistent seeking answers, that is the true success story here. Persistence over the status quo in the medical field. Often the front lines of the medical field are so overwhelmed that they lose empathy, this is something common anywhere, thus the need for persistency . Thank you for sharing

I live in Western Australia, thought I was born in Dublin. Your story is heart wrenching and I wish you the very best on your journey to finding a cure for your condition. Unfortunately, it highlights the incompetence in your Medical Care system. What makes me so really sad is I enjoy wonderful medical care in Australia but I estimate 20% of my Doctors and nurses are Irish trained we even have two GP's in our practice from Ireland. The Irish health care needs to look over its shoulder and take action to try to stem the loss of valuable medical staff to overseas regions.

I’m 55 and going through chemo for breast cancer at the moment. Mine was found through mammogram and was a big shock. I am so concerned and saddened for younger women who are not covered by the routine check and suffer this ageism and discrimination when cancer does not care who is over 50 or 35. I've had cancer twice (last time about 5 years ago, I'm fine now), and I've had experiences with some wonderful professionals and some incredibly rude jerks. I tried calling my specialist after getting some confusing news and his exact response was, "I have hundreds of patients...I don't have time to talk to everybody who phones me". My GP (a GOOD doctor) said, "He's an ass...but try to tolerate him because he's a great surgeon." True. He was an ass and a great surgeon. I just wish these people understood how SCARY this is for regular folks. Too many of them treat it like another day at the office and we are just annoying customers.

Dee what an ordeal for you, I sat and listened and got so angry and upset for you, how could they treat you like that and others I'm sure. I had a lump and was seen within 2 weeks up the hospital. Your perseverance finally got you seen, but others may not have bothered and had to wait even longer. This is not a whiny vlog, it's giving others out there the push to go and fight for the appointments they need. My friend is going through chemo at the moment and started the same day as you, hence how I found your vlog. Sending lots of well wishes to you at this time.

People say it’s only hair and it was grow back ... but it’s kind of like saying “I’ll cut off your hand ... but don’t worry it will grow back.” :( My head scarf isn’t particularly adventurous but tell her there’s loads of tutorials on KZbin and she might actually enjoy playing around with a new look! Same exact thing I am going through right now. I am still being sent all over the place and no one will take me seriously even though I have swollen lymph glands ALL OVER THE BODY WITH NO OTHER SYMPTOMS. I have ruled out on my own with my own money (while waiting for my insurance to kick in) HIV, BREAST CANCER, ORAL CANCER, HEAD AND NECK CANCER CERVICAL CANCER AND OVARIAN CANCER, LUPUS. The only thing left is lymphoma and NO ONE WILL PUT THROUGH an order for biopsy of nodes. So I know I am sick and no one will help. Still begging for a biopsy months later even though my nodes are still swollen after a month of antibiotics. The medical community so far has been rude, dismissive and unconcerned with saving my life and I feel like I will die waiting on a diagnosis. Thank God you finally found the lump on your own, but in my opinion one of the Dr.s should have thought of that. I know how scary it is and glad to hear you didn't give up. Guess I will have to do the same.

I don't know you personally, but I thank you for this very candid video; my daughter went to doctor after doctor, multiple walk in clinics and hospitals when she was pregnant, telling them she was in such pain and something had to be wrong... tests, x-rays, ultrasounds,... all said she was ok, and every one of them sent her home. Some were very rude, as you experienced too. She tried not to give up, going wherever we could think of, looking for someone to help. Long story short, her baby was born very early, and only lived an hour because something had ruptured and he was living in bile during the months she/we pleaded for help. I am so happy they finally listened to you, I have already said a prayer for your full recovery. And may God bless you every day! Oh. And I started watching you because I was looking for cute head wrap ideas as I am newly diagnosed with BRCA2 pos breast cancer. One side masectomy (genetic testing wasn't back yet), and one round of chemo down (second one tomorrow)... my long thick red hair is almost gone. And you put more real helpful info in that first video than I've seen anywhere.. thank you, thank you, thank you!! ♡♡♡

I also got, you are too young for cancer. Besides, cancer doesn't hurt. This was at age 34. When i went back, right before I turned 36, she said very angrily, is this the same lump you conplained about before? Of course I said yes, she said she didn't think it was anything, but I will give you a mamogram to keep me from worring. I am just as pisses off as you. And then what suck is after I actually beat my cancer almost the same exact thing happened again with this current cancer. And just so that you know your video did help me. It helped me realize that I am not the only one in this situation.

I've never met a rude doctor- I've met a grumpy doc but she tried her best to be polite to me. Maybe you guys and girls need to go to another clinic/hospital. Seeing a lot of patients who usually end up having hypochondria makes some docs...aholes but they don't mean to downplay anything usually. At the time, this woman must have had doctors who were too stupid to realize cancer can show up at any age so that is on them and their education. My grumpy doc even told me if my symptoms don't go away with the medicine she gave me(for constipation and stomach pain) she'll do an endoscopy. I am sorry you all had uninformed docs.

Regards from Poland. The health care system in Ireland is medieval as in the UK and the USA. When I was under 35 and felt under my hand that I feel sth in my brest, the appointment w/ the specialist was NEXT DAY. The nurse hearing at the front desk that I only think there is sth abnormal in there, she RUN w/ me (in POLAND, small town!!!) and excused all patients, so I went to the doc FIRST. Plus: Two of my friends in Dublin gave a birth in massive pain for 24 hours. In Poland the hospital gives the C section in all similar case and when a woman is 35 or over 35 the C-section is No Question (too high risk that the baby will have episepsy caused of bad birth etc).

Un effin believable! A very similar situation occurred with my sister some 7yrs ago when she was being tested for breast cancer .. lumps etc. My sister was told that as it was 3 weeks prior to Christmas then after that new year hospital referrals only really worked at the bare minimum. My sister finally got her results back in the 2nd week of January informing her that she did indeed have breast cancer! My sister was one of the VERY lucky ones though because all her tumour material was encapsulated so that was removed 2 weeks later along with most of her breast tissue and some under arm limp nodes. In all honesty as much as I am extremely grateful for our NHS system there are still MAJOR flaws in the system where life and death are concerned. Sending you love and hugs Dee xxxxx

Thank you for sharing this, how insightful into the irish medical system. The american system is full of flaws too. Isnt it weird though how that inner voice kept pushing you to get it checked out despite the road blocks? That is how mine went too as far as 'knowing' something was wrong. You were talking about the dr dismissing the lumps and it reminded me of my 'worst' treatment. I was sent in for an upper GI about mid way through chemo and I was at that point of I can barely think because Im so sick in that cycle. Im told to go straight to the hospital so I do, they check me in and have me go sit alone on the table in the mostly darkened room where they do the procedure. I wait in this ice cold room, bald with no teeth (autoimmune disease caused me to lose them young) wearing just a gown, shivering.. for a good 20 minutes. Finally the specialist storms into the room and starts speaking to me in the most venomous angry voice. Apparently his receptionist told me wrong, I was supposed to go to the office first then meet him at the hospital. Because I didnt show up there they had assumed I missed the appt and he was half way to the golf course (yes he told me that) when he was informed I was waiting at the hospital and he had to turn around and come back. He was so freaking angry and the only response I could give was to hang my head down in exhaustion and silently cry. Cancer is hard enough, the medical system and those working in it can make it easier or worse for the patient.

lol, yeah Im sure karma was already ,even back then, always knocking him on his ass. Just a guess, I mean how can someone be mean to another human being in need like that? Hi Dee, I haven't even finished watching yet but I'm finding this deeply moving and disturbing. I'm sorry that the system there does not seem to support people to urgently seek diagnosis and treatment. I truly feel for you, I was panicking that I had waited 6 weeks to follow a referral which eventually led to a breast cancer diagnosis. I’m so very sorry you had to experience that, people have no idea how good we have it here in America. So much so that they take it for granted. About to start my chemo journey on January 11th. Very nervous but I’m going to embrace the bald as you said!

American health care system is better than the U.K.’s. I live in the U.K., and because it’s government funded through taxes, we have limited rights, huge waiting list for many things. Takes me two weeks to see a doctor. Thank God my company pays for me to have private insurance. I got my breast examined, scanned and biopsied in one day. If I went with the U.K. NHS, (government funded) it would have taken months months months... anyways, I wish you all the best with chemo xx

I feel your pain & journey. I too had the same sort of experience. Was diagnosed with breast cancer last month. After going to the breast clinic for the past 4 years, many times. Only to be told I had cysts every time. Even though the symptoms of the the boob was getting worse over the last 4 years. Because of the lack of care. I have stage 3 breast cancer. Just had my first chemotherapy on Friday. Thanks for sharing
