The only way one can read this document to be in accord with Catholic teaching, is to limit such blessings to people who actively state that they wish to have a blessing so that they may live their life COMPLETELY in accord with God's law. That would mean they specifically ask that they be freed from the temptation of the gay lifestyle, and they want the strength to reject that lifestyle. But since the document specifically tells priests they may not even ask the gay people if this is the case, the document is so self contradictory as to be totally useless.

Francis cannot change church teaching otherwise he could be deposed .so to me it’s obvious he has to find a different route to do just that -- watch how this evil document plays out .

Do you have any opinions on the 'Reason and Theology' video that is titled "But the Gay Blessings Document Says "Couples""? That video contends that the blessing is effectively for the individuals and the document is very clear about it.

I think that Mr Lofton is desperate to find an answer for everything Pope Francis does. The fact that Fr James Martin approach a gay "married" couple the day this came out and blessed their "union" shows that Mr Lofton's argument is nonsense. If it walks like a duck, etc
